Which choice best describes your opinion on AFW Championship Belts in general?

Please explain to me. Exactly why did you people see this:winner3 wrote:3) I don't think people failing to reaching out to any specific people is a valid claim for anyone to miss out on opportunities regarding belts or other accolades. Especially with no rules stating so.
And leap to the defense of the title holders as if I assigned blame to them? Someone please enlighten me.
It's not a valid claim on the basis of the fact that there is no pre=existing forum rule that denotes this. I don't understand what the difficulty is here with accepting that.

You're basically saying it's not the fault of people that don't reach out when they don't get belts or titles. You're shifting the blame from them to others, so yes, that comes off as a bit of an attack.
I'm sorry if it came across as an attack. It wasn't meant to be. And I'll try to be more prudent with word choice and phrasing in the future. My logic was that one person or group being absolved of blame doesn't immediately shift blame to anyone. The assignment of blame was never stated to belong to anyone, but if it felt like it was, I'm sorry.

They do ask possible contenders though. They just tend to ask their friends and people they get along with and can work well with, because those are the people they know and trust and potentially know want a title shot.

There should be a line though. (Again, ZERO forcing of threads) But ideally they could at least take into consideration those they may have not worked with before, that have been spending their time building towards an involvement. Yeh, it's natural we just want to work with people we get along with, or owe. But we shouldn't use that as justification for outright leaving people out.

Re: We Should Talk About The Title Scene
See, I feel like this is more of a common sense issue than it is a rule issue. You're correct, there is no rule regulating this, but since there is no rule, it comes down to what makes the most sense.Winner3 wrote:It's not a valid claim on the basis of the fact that there is no pre=existing forum rule that denotes this. Here's bad example. An employer doesn't go out and randomly call people and ask if they want a job. That responsibility falls on people who want the job. The same logic applies here. If people want the chance to go for the title, then they HAVE to express interest, otherwise (and I know it sounds mean), then they are shit out of luck.
Everyone deserves an equal shot, but to have that shot, you have to point out that you actually want a shot.

Apology accepted. No hard feelings dude. I understand you're just trying to help out the site.
Let me try explaining this another way though.
There's no rule because...there's never needed a reason for there to be one. We don't have an official ruling on how belts work because we're a rules-light freeform RP and the methods of moving belts change as needed.
Sometimes people with belts decide to pass them on to their friends or people they think deserve them. Sometimes, Tat stepped in and helped people he thought deserved a belt get it by setting up a match between them and a title holder. There's no hard and fast rules on how to get a belt. We've never really had set rules on it and it's almost always worked out fine.

Re: We Should Talk About The Title Scene
The freeform nature of AFW is what makes it such a good place where a lot of people can go and have fun on.
It's why we've been able to stick around so long and have so many people. IMO

Re: We Should Talk About The Title Scene
The above.
Seriously. I know my rant was a dick move, but I brought up the same point.
I can't just randomly put my finger on a character and go "YOU WIN!"
You have to let a title holder know your interested in doing something with them, or else how are they supposed to know?
MAYBE they'll ask, if they already wanted a match with you. Otherwise, they probably wouldn't if you don't get their attention.

Re: We Should Talk About The Title Scene
Just because theres no rule denoting it doesn't make it a valid claim. I don't understand how that's supposed to make sense, this a forum were a community communication shouldn't need to be written down to be something we do.Winner3 wrote:Mystery Dragon wrote:You said it yourself, failing to reach out isn't a valid claim, so what is a valid claim? I don't understand this "Well there's no rule" thing.
Like, does this seriously have to be spelled out in an official rule that "Hey, communication is good! Do that!"

Look, I don't think there's any one thing I can say change the minds everyone who commented recently. If you think it makes sense not to denote this rule, or any rule for something like titles, then that's cool. It works for you. Do you.
