Alicia Wells vs. "Amazon" Alaina Sanders

Alaina had been having a very rough month. She lost her title to someone she felt she needed to defeat to essentially validate how far she had come in her career. Or how far she thought she came before being proven wrong. She won a few matches since, and had also lost some... drawing heat for hitting the proverbial glass ceiling.

She wanted to show everyone tonight that the amazon had no ceiling. She wanted to show everyone that her title loss was just a setback. a setback she could overcome. Tonight she was facing a beast in Friction, Alicia Wells. Alaina heard that this woman was a terror, but that didn't dissuade her at all. Alaina wanted to be known as a terror as well. Alicia had been given big matches and opportunities very early in her career. Opportunities Alaina had to scrap for after over a year of being relegated to the undercard.

As her music played, Alaina smiled as big a grin as she could bounding out into the arena to the roar of the crowd! She high fived fans on her way down the ramp stopping at the bottom to pose. She flexed her arms for the crowd and slid into the ring underneath the bottom rope. Inside the ring she held her arms out, drawing in the cheers of the crowd. Cheers that were more comforting than ever.

Alaina stood in the center of the ring, staring back up the the ramp and waiting for Alicia to join her.

This was going to be Alicia’s first match since Avalanche, as well as her first match of 2017.

And she’d been put in a match with none other than the woman Valley Doll had beaten at Avalanche to take the Entropy title – Alaina Sanders. Alaina was a powerhouse of a wrestler in her own right, a former champion and someone with an impressive win-loss record to call her own. As a result, Alicia was looking forward to a good fight, something to take away the bitter taste of what had happened at Avalanche.

It was anyone’s guess when she might get her hands on Wright again but Alicia had a New Year’s resolution of her own regardless. It had nothing to do with the smug WAR member, no. What she wanted to do was get her rematch with Valley Doll and, while it had nothing to do with the title the blonde now held, beating the former champion couldn’t hurt.

Mostly though, Alicia was just looking forward to a good fight.

In the arena, once Alaina’s entrance was done, there was a brief pause and then the lights went out. There was no music, not even a single chord, only silence until the lights came back up again to reveal Alicia stood opposite Alaina, grinning.

The big redhead was clad in her usual battle gear, sports bra and tight shorts in black and grey with the Union Jack on the waistband. Pausing a moment to adjust her fingerless gloves, the British woman stepped up to join Alaina centre ring, offering her a hand to shake.

”Saw your match with Valley,” She offered in her throaty contralto, ”This should be fun.”

Alaina was a bit surprised to see Alicia's different entrance, not what the amazon was used to. She raised an eyebrow but smiled at Alicia, happy to see a show of sportsmanship. Alaina shook her hand firmly and nodded, not saying a word.

She was in need of vindication after Avalanche, a ein against someone most women on the roster shyed away from facing. Alicia was such a woman.

As the bell rang Alaina moved it to grapple, locking up with the slightly bigger Alicia. This was going to be quite the battle of power, ability and will. The roaring crowd cheered louder as these two women kicked things off! Alaina would try to force Alicia back into the corner initially, as a show of strength and to deliver a bit of pain to Alicia's back as she crashed against the turnbuckle.

For once, Alicia was being the chatty one although, once she’d said her piece, that was it for her as well. She returned the firm shake, returned the nod and backed up to wait for the bell.

Once it rang, the British woman moved right back in with her usual eagerness to get things started. Alaina wanted to grapple and, for once, she was of a mind to oblige.

Alicia took the lock up alright, linking her hands with Alaina’s as if she was planning to go for the test of strength. In fact, for a moment, she did indeed strain against the smaller powerhouse, digging her heels in to prevent herself being driven back. On the other hand, Alaina’s upper body strength was definitely superior and the redhead could feel her hands starting to be pushed down.

Well, she’d never meant to let this go too far. It wasn’t Alicia’s style, and she certainly wasn’t about to let herself get shoved back into a turnbuckle this early.

A few seconds into the lock up, the big kickboxer simply went to drive a sharp knee into the pit of Alaina’s belly before she could be pushed right into the corner. If it worked, she’d disengage from the lock up and skip back, before going for a second brutal knee to the former champion’s face – if necessary going to pull Alaina’s head down with her hands.

For a second Alaina thought she had Alicia right where she wanted her. However, the sharp pain in her abdomen proved otherwise! Alaina let out a groan as the knee struck her abdomen, and she doubled over. Worst of all was the second, hard knee she took to the face!

Alaina let out a howl as she fell back onto the mat, her hands covering her throbbing face as she laid on her back, kicking the mat in agony! This was far from the start she had hoped for to this match. She felt like she played right into a trap. Alaina had to be smarter than that from here on out, however she felt she had far more pressing concerns at hand.

If Alicia was to pick a common flaw among wrestlers she’d fought so far, it was this idea that people were just going to stand there and go through with a test of strength. Even if they were losing. As far as she was concerned, it was a pointless move even if she won it and she certainly would not stick around in a losing one. Hence the knee to the gut, freeing her up to take the offensive in her preferred style.

That shot doubled Alaina over nicely, putting her in perfect position for the follow-up strike to the head. That in turn levelled the former champ flat on her back, clearly not feeling too good after that big hit. Nor was she clear of the woods yet. Alicia didn’t pause to give the brunette time to recover.

Instead, as Alaina thrashed, Alicia stepped to the side and forward, swinging her leg up in a kick aimed to take her opponent square on the chin. She’d got Alaina down but she felt it wise to stun the former champion a little more before she tried for a submission hold.

Another kick to the head ought to be a good start.

Alaina was down and her world rocked again as a swift kick connected to her chin! Her head whipped back as the foot caused her to bite her lip a bit, saliva and a couple flecks of blood flying as Alaina's head whipped back! Alaina was surely behind now, and seeming to fall even further into a deficit as Alicia kept up the attack.

She groaned as she rolled to her side, trying to slowly roll onto her hands and knees to make her way up to her feet ever so slowly. Given Alicia's movements and tactics it was highly doubtful that Alaina was going to be afforded any time to get that far.

Alicia’s boot slammed home bang on her opponent’s chin, right where she aimed it, cracking Alaina’s head back hard. In fact, the redhead saw a bit of blood fly as a result but nothing to be worried about at this point. Still, she felt it best to at least pull back on the headshots. If she kept them up, she might run the risk of knocking Alaina out already and – while she didn’t really care about that as a possibility – it’d be pretty damn disappointing if she ended this already.

Instead, with Alaina rolling away and trying to get up, the kickboxer decided to show her opponent why that was a bad idea. Taking a step back, she then came right back in to blast a soccer kick right under the side of Alaina’s ribcage. Short on style and finesse it might have been, but it ought to do a good job of keeping the Amazon down and chipping away at her strength.

Ideally, it would also knock Alaina onto her back again, where she would be left open to Alicia’s arsenal of joint locks.

Alaina was almost up when the sharp kick brought her crashing back down. She rolled onto her back kicking the mat in agony as she cradled her ribcage. This match so far had seen the amazon look like a glorified punching back. She could still taste that lovely copper taste of blood in her mouth but just a bit, she had a cut but nothing that was gushing blood everywhere.

At least she had that to be thankful for.

Well, credit the former champion with an impressive reserve of stubbornness at least even if so far fighting ability wasn’t equally apparent. Still, she’d given Valley plenty to chew on and Alicia was convinced that it was just a matter of time before she got to see the same Alaina.

Still, she wasn’t about to go easy on her in the meantime.

With Alaina down flat on her back, Alicia could have just kept on kicking away until the former champion stopped moving. Well, or Alaina stopped her but, either way, it wasn’t a tactic that really appealed to the kickboxer. She’d come here looking for a fight and, while stomping the brunette flat might be a valid option in a street fight, she was still hoping for something a little more fun.

So, while Alaina tried to curl up, the redhead didn’t go for any more kicks. Instead she dropped to the mat on Alaina’s right side, sliding right up to drop her legs across her opponent’s chest on either side of that arm. Leaning in, Alicia went to wrap her hands around Alaina’s wrist so that she could fall back, looking to hyperextend that elbow in a simple but agonising armbar.

If she could secure the limb, she’d cross her ankles and squeeze her thighs against Alaina’s bicep with crushing force to further punish the arm.
