Re: Ideas Moving Forward
Why is it hard for two people to do a storyline? Plenty of people do it. I don't really see how to stepping stone that kind of thing.
As for what Acuya said, that sometimes ideas just die from the start, well...yeah. It happens.
I've had plenty of matches and ideas I wanted to happen die. Hell, I had a whole big, multi character Tension storyline I spent forever crafting last year, and guess what happened? It got a couple steps in, then completely fell apart, and I got shit on for it in the process.
Not trying to be mean, but that's the reality of the situation.
TL'DR Version: Shit Happens. Deal with it and try again.
So, as long as your all still trying to get Tat's old job, anyone got any other ideas?

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
Ok, so for a second ignoring how unsuccessful this thread was:
If you want to help new people off in their storylines, but you don't want them facing off against veteran wrestlers. How about creating a new belt below the Entropy belt. Something specially for beginners almost.
For that matter, i wouldn't mind seeing a Friction 24/7 belt either.

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
We don't need a new belt. There are plenty of ways for new people to get attention.
Be more proactive in messaging people to ask not just for threads, but for help getting started. Write a nice promo thread that shows what they're capable of doing and how well they can write. Make sure their profiles look good. Use proper punctuation and grammar and such (not easy for people who's first language isn't English, I know, but still).
If a new person puts in the effort to look good and get noticed, trust me, they'll get noticed.

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
The biggest problem (in my experience) in getting bigger and better plotlines and experience for my wrestlers has been booking matches period. Like Sleeper said, it's been an uphill battle finding people who will actually agree to even a standard match.
How can I ever hope to boost my characters to where they'd have a reasonable in-universe shot at a title match when I can't book anything? I can't force people to RP with me, so I end up only ever doing things with a select few people.
And when I only ever RP with the same people (who also aren't title holders mind you), how can I ever achieve the "experience and accomplishments" necessary that Tai and others has talked about? I've literally given up on ever being considered for any sort of title and consigned myself to just enjoying what I can.

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
We have people that do that. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
Could depend upon a lot of things too. Maybe said new guy has a character that isn't appealing, maybe new guy doesn't have an appealing writing style for some people, maybe the idea itself just isn't all that interesting.
Or if they are brand new, others might want to wait and see what they can do and if they seem interesting to work with before offering them anything.
I mean, I guess you could force people to make stories with people they normally but that might not be the best idea...except apparently to all the people who want to be mods.
@Jake: Thats more less what Entropy and Softcore are for, newer characters/players. Most of the people who won it were only here a couple years at the time they won it, though I'd say by now it has progressed to a good mid card belt. Still, softcore is a good opening character belt, if you HAVE to go after a belt right off the bat.

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
Everyone wants shots at the title match. I joined knowing I didnt need it. Usually I just rp with the same people, and then others who want to have a match with me usually message me.
Thats not to say I don't message others from time to time, but it takes a build up of courage for me. Its not easy. Its networking.
You shouldn't want to go for a title tight off the bat. The reason I dont because it seems like a peak. You won it. Now what? You lose it sometime later. Nothing wrong with it though, just saying

Re: Ideas Moving Forward
As were on that now, let me give you a little insight in my personal selection process of people.
I came to AFW because the site had everything I was looking for. Hentai if you want, just wrestling if you don´t want hentai. But in realitiy, that isn´t so easy as it reads. I don´t care if people have 10K or 200 posts, one of my fondest memories of a spar was with someone who has around 200 posts and then sadly vanished.
I have several people on my mind I would like to play with because i like their writing style, but I rarely find a point to connect with them:
*Some of these are Tension players. I have no problem with Tension in general, but I don´t want to do it often because that is not what I came for here. I still do sometimes and write at the best of my abilities if the argument is really convincing, but the inititive for something like this never comes from me.
*Some of these people love tears and humiliation. That is ok, but it is not for me. I don´t want one of the girl to be a broken mess at the end of a match. Sexually exhausted and aroused from being taken in public yes, but not actually humiliated and crying.
*Characters do not fit. Not because they are ugly or something, it just does not look promising to ask people for a match with them if they are narcist humilation specialists.
*Some of them also don´t want to play with me because they don´t like my own writing style.
*I have several ideas of mine listed in my blog entry, but nobody ever approaches me with doing something of it, the initiative nearly always comes from me. That means to me that either my ideas are not good and I actually have to convince people into doing them, my requirements are too harsh or nobody is curious enough to read blog entries.

Uh...I don't have a 'little clique', thank you. I've done threads with nearly everyone on the boards. Don't be so accusing. Thanks.
