Blonde on Blonde

In a strange way, Valley was almost jealous of Chris’ size. While she was happy with her size and loved using her agility to dazzle the audience and enemies alike, she always wondered what it would be like to have raw power on her side. Just to be a giant, for one day.

She would never know what it was like to be so big that you could send someone to the floor with a simple shove for the shoulder, like Chris had just done. The blow was as basic as it could be and wouldn't have amounted to much from a regular wrestler, but from the Phenomenon, it had incredible force, knocked the wind out of Valley’s chest.

But again, Valley had agility working for her. That agility let her roll back with the momentum, popping off her shoulder and getting to her feet in a smooth motion. She hadn't even touched down for a split second before she launched herself forward into a somersault, letting her legs swing up and over towards Chris’ head, in one of the more unorthodox moves in her arsenal - a Koppu Kick.

Nimbleness, agility, whatever you wanted to call it, Chris knew that she was lacking in that department. She always watched in wistful envy as other girls took to the top ropes, or performed acrobatic tumbles and flips across the mat. So when Valley turned what should have been a knockdown into a backward roll that brought her back to her feet, Chris felt that old pang of jealousy.

But she didn't have much time to dwell on it. As soon as her feet touched the mat, Val was in motion, rolling back towards Chris. She thought that Valley's somersault was simply a way to try and tumble towards her, perhaps looking to try and close in low to the ground and attack one of her legs. Chris bent low, thinking to catch Valley out of her roll and perhaps hurl her to the mat with a bodyslam.

Oh was she wrong.

She may have seen that kick twice in her whole life. Once, a long time ago when as a rookie she had spectate Wrestle Angel matches as part of her education, and just now, when Valley's legs and feet drove into her head, sending her reeling back before going down to one knee. Even with the headgear on, that impact was vicious. The blonde shook her head vigorously to clear it....

Valley earned the nickname ‘Chick of a 1,001 Kicks’ back in her Slamazon days, and while she found it to be a clunky sobriquet, she did her best to earn it. Always picking up new moves, trying to improve on old ones, even learning the occasional oddity and saving it for a rainy day. In her humble opinion, there was a kick for every conceivable situation in a match. Just a matter of picking the right one at the right time.

Chris would likely agree. If she weren’t busy being stunned and all.

Valley landed on her butt after the kick, and thankfully, the bigger blonde wasn’t in a good position to capitalize. With her still reeling, there was an opportunity, but she’d have to make the most of it.

Moving in, she grabbed Chris hand and pulled her up, getting her just high enough for Valley to work with her. She ducked under the Wrestle Angel’s shoulder and put her in an arm wringer - nothing too serious, but Valley would need to sap away her opponent’s massive strength advantage, and this was a good way to start.

Chris was still shaking off the effects of that kick when she felt Valley seize a hold of her arm and apply a spinning wrist lock. The move caused her to groan out in pain as she looked around at her friend.

"Oh...augh...so that's how it's going to be?" she asked sardonically with a raised eyebrow.

It was one of the more basic holds, but it was also certainly effective. Also, Chris lacked the agility to perform almost everyone's favorite roll through. But, the Californian had her own way of doing things. She turned into the hold and then fell onto her back so that she would be lying lay crossways in front of Valley. The motion would hopefully pull the former Slamazon forward, as Chris reached out with her arm to wrap it around Valley's near leg. If it worked, Valley would fall forward onto her chest and face, tripping over Chris's prone body, leaving the long haired blonde with a hold of her leg.

Rolling into a kneeling position behind Valley, she would try to convert her counter into an ankle lock, looking to grind away at one of those shapely, yet lethal legs, trying lessen her mobility and kicking power. However, the fall forward would leave Valley within a short crawl to reaching distance for the ropes...

Valley knew it wasn’t the best idea to get cocky when dealing with six-foot tall wrestler with over a decade of in-ring experience, but she couldn’t resist a quick little quip as she worked the arm wringer.

”Oh, yes.” Valley smirked and gave the wringer a sharp twist, putting on a little more pressure. Not too much. Not quite. Didn’t want to hurt her too bad.

She had little time to revel in the advantage, though - Chris Morgan was a pro, so a basic move that most wrestlers learned in their first week wouldn’t stop her for long. Valley squawked as the situation was suddenly and abruptly reversed, with her on the floor and her opponent tightly gripping her ankle.

”Okay, okay.” Valley managed to squeeze a quick laugh in before she hissed at the pain. ”Good move.” She slowly started to push up off the canvas, trying to alleviate the pressure. ”But can you-”

Valley tucked her head and tried to roll forward, hoping to pull Chris in as she tumbled and force her to let go in the process. Kind of a gamble, but a worthy one.

Chris eased back some on the pressure of her ankle lock. It was just a spar after all, no need to go full out, right? But she wanted Valley to know she had indeed been caught, keeping her hold on the leg firm.

"Thanks...don't know if you'd fall for that one again, but thanks." she replied to Val's compliment.

Valley pushed up on the mat, trying to relieve the pressure that on her trapped leg. As she did, Chris was treated to a view of said lovely leg stretched out, leading to the firm curves of Val's rear. Although the view was nice, Chris was really on the look out for a kick backwards from the other leg, ready to move her head or body to the side slightly to avoid the worst of a blow from that angle.

However, Val's escape plan was, again, something from outside the box. Her friend suddenly tumbled forward, yanking the leg out of Chris grasp as she rolled away from her. The suddenly pull also made Chris pitch forward, making her catch herself on her hands and knees, unable to pursue Val. Instead Chris would have to elect to get back to a standing position, not wanting to be in a vulnerable position against the Doll's devastating kicks...

Getting out of an ankle lock like this was always a gamble, but then, the vast majority of Valley’s better moves relied on some degree of luck. She just had to cast the die and hope it came out in her favor. Which it did. This time, at least.

Valley tucked and rolled as Chris was thrust forward, and her daring was promptly rewarded - for a brief flash, she was behind the taller blonde, with a back that was begging to be targeted. She’d only have a little time to work with it, but Valley could inflict some good damage in a couple of seconds.

She rose back to her feet and moved in, only slightly slowed by the twinge in her right ankle. It hurt, but not enough to stop Valley from winding back and delivering a sharp shin kick Chris’ spine, targeting the small of her with the whipping strike.

Chris gave a short yelp of pain as she felt Val's leg crash into her exposed back. Arching her back against the pain, she staggered forward into the ropes catching the top one with on hand, the other pressed to the point of impact.

"You know, I don't remember you being this much of an acrobat...." she said grinning over her shoulder at Val, but then hissing in pain as she rubbed her stinging back. "Kicks still hurt just as much though..."

Against someone else - and not in a spar - Valley would’ve kept pouring on the pressure, tried to work Chris over even harder. But here, she’d made some good moves and seen what her foe had to offer. They were at a good pace, tuning moves, working a little outside their comfort zones. No need to go full steam.

”What can I say?” Valley started to hop back on her toes, moving to the middle of the ring. ”There’s a lot of new talent coming in. More of you Wrestle Angels, bright young stars, lot of new competition. Really had to step my game up last year.

She raised an eyebrow. ”Not going too fast for you, am I? Can slow it down if those old joints are bothering you a bit.”

"Oh?" Chris raised an eyebrow back at Val's verbal jab. "And here I am just getting warmed up. If you're getting winded, it's ok to say so. You're not getting any younger, you know."

The taller Californian gave Valley a wink to let her know she was teasing. She would then come out of the ropes, heading to the center of the ring.

"Hey, how's Valentine doing, anyway? I haven't heard anything about my favorite feline refugee.." Chris asked as she gave a few stretches, referring to the time she took care of Valley's tabby.
