Goto Tension Natsu

Goto stropped in front of the door and lifted his hand up to pinch his nose. Never in a million years did he think that he would be doing this with his life, signing up for a mixed wrestling league. He was a proud Japanese warrior and now he was going to spend his time having to go easy some girls pretending to be wrestlers, all for the sake of his sister.

He turned and looked back. Natsuko was fiery in her own way. If she had been born a man, maybe she would even surpass him in skill, but for a girl, she definitely was impressive. She did make him proud, in her own way. He smiled very faintly as he looked at her. She was coming to this league whether he have his approval or not. That was why he was here. Even if he was confident that she could beat any of the other girls, what would happen when she finally came across a guy? He had seen how big some of them were. Some of them might even give him a run for his money. He had to be close by, to make sure nothing happen to her.

'To my Imouto-chan. My little...'

"Natsuko-chan." He finished his thought aloud.

"There's no shame in attending a university, you know. You don't have to do this. It would be better if we went home. Takashi-san has a brother about your age. He's very nice young man."

Staring skyward in starry-eyed awe towards the towering stadium before her, Natsu's sneakers felt bolted to the pavement as she remained transfixed on the imposing structure. It was more daunting than she remembered from biking passed it practically everyday after school in her senior year. But that trembling in her clenched fists and and those fluttering butterflies in her stomach weren't so much from jittery nerves...and more from how frigging stoked she was that the day had finally come!!

Eventually that boundless energy would free her from being a statue and have her hopping on the soles of her sneakers in jubilant anticipation, grinning wildly as she fantasized about how much fun she was gonna have throwing down with the premier talent of the wresting world. Sneaking off to practice under her families nose while the premier mecca of the sport was practically in her backyard was maddeningly tempting. But now she would be free to actually compete...INSIDE!!! Her WHOLE life led up to this point!! She couldn't belie-

...went home. Takashi-san has a brother about your age. He's very nice young man...

Eventually some echoing words would pop her ballooning fantasy bubble, turning to jog in front of Goto with a beaming smile. She may not have caught the majority of what her big bro said, but it was a speech she had heard enough times that it was practically ingrained into her subconscious.

"Ah ha!! Well that's where you're wrong big bro Fujio, cause this university is where I'm gonna learn all I need to know!!" Natsu would extend her arms wide to her sides to emphasize both her statement and the buildings grandeur before placing her clenched fists on her hips. “Just call it the University of Hard Knocks~...And you’re gonna have a great time here!! I just know it!! The competition here is the best in the country!! Or maybe even the world!! But at least the country!! Now quit trying to play matchmaker and let’s get inside already!!” Spinning in place to merrily jog inside with her headband fluttering in the breeze, Natsu would turn her head to yell some parting words that were less audible as she ran onward to wait for him in the lobby. “ And Takashi-san’s brother picks his nose in public!!...That’s gross!!…”

Goto pinched his nose again as Natsu spoke and dashed off into the lobby. He picked up his pace and followed inside, trying his best not to scowl at his youthful sister. "I've told you not to call me that, Natsu-chan." He said, mildly scolding her. "You should address me properly as Nii-san." Natsuko's manners, however, were certainly the least of his concerns though.

"And saying it like that doesn't put my mind at ease one bit!" Goto shook his head. "I'm sturdy, I'm a man." He said, touching his knuckles against chest. "And, I know that you've become quite a young lady, but what if something were to happen to you? How would I be able to face Okaasan or Otousan?" He suggested.

He stopped and looked around at the lobby. It was definitely a professional looking place. He was paused from his mild scolding to consider her words. HE was definitely interested in facing real competition, but that was another matter entirely.

"Moshi-kun does no such thing!" Goto said suddenly. "He's a good young man, who is going to be accepted to the finest university in Kyoto!"

Pressing her cheek against the side of an expansive aquarium to more intently examine the vibrantly colorful sea life inside, Natsu was already drawing an uncomfortable amount of attention to her from passerby's and the people behind the reception desk.

"Wonder how they got the fish in there...Hm?...Well...that's sounds swell for Moshi. I'm sure he'll have a blast in that snooty old school and have girls falling all over him in no time..so long as they don't catch him mining for gold..." Natsu mischievously giggled before stepping back from the aquarium and strolling back to her overtly worried brother nearby.

"Heeey, buck up~...That's, like, the whole reason I'm here anyway. So that something could happen for me..." Natsu exclaimed brightly to cheer up her gloomy bro, lightly punching him on that muscled arm of his.

"Listen...I appreciate how you've always had my back growing up and all, but, like, you're not gonna always be there to protect me, ya know? Birds gotta leave the nest and all that junk, right? And what better way to show you how strong my wings are than by knocking some heads around!!" Natsu smacked her fist into the palm of her hand, sufficiently hyped up before running over to wait on the line at the reception desk. "Now let's go get officially registered...I was up all night picking out our entrance theme songs and I wanna make sure they play the right ones!!"

"Natsuko!"

Goto yelled as the girl bounced around and carelessly pressed her face against the glass. She was just too full of energy, but even so, she needed to mind her manners! He groaned at her and shook his head. "No." Goto said as Natsuko bounced up to the reception desk. "Even if you need to leave the nest, you do not have to fly into the sun." He said, scolding her. "Staying nearby and starting a family would be honorable enough!"

Despite the fact that he knew he was fighting a losing battle, he kept up with it. It was as important to him as it was to her, even though he may have been the one to have instilled such enthusiasm in her.

"Nnnnn." A chesty groan escaped Goto's lips. "Even still, even after all of it, you still had to join this place?" He motioned around the lobby. "That is what makes it feel intentionally defiant. Even if you must wrestle," Goto said the words bitterly, "there is a women's division in Tokyo. Couldn't you have joined that? At least then I could possibly support something like that."

Goto's voice softened. "Natsu-chan, I'm only looking out for you. There's men who are bigger and stronger than I am. How do you hope to compete?"

"Aw come on...you act like I'm gonna be totally defenseless out there. It's like you always say...It's not the about the size of the dog in a fight. It's about the dog that has the biggest...size...fight in the dog...Y-You know what I'm trying to say." Natsuko groaned at her own fumbling of the analogy. Her brother was always better at remembering those wise old sayings. "Besides, I'm already like, five foot nothing. It doesn't matter where I go, I'm probably always gonna be swinging up at the guy. May as well learn how to do that against the best in the business, ya know?"

Balancing on the tips of her toes to peer over the shoulder of the guy in front of her, Natsuko surmised from her limited vantage point that they were about three people down from the front desk. "You mean that Friction division? Well...I spose I could have signed up there, but you know what would have happened? I would bust my ass day in and day out to make a name for myself...an people would just call me a great female wrestler...not a great wrestler." Natsu flopped down from her tip toes to glance over to Goto with a scowl and raised eyebrow.

"And SOME people around here, who shall remain anonymous, don't think the ladies have what it takes to throw down with the guys. And maybe a certain lovable younger sister wants to prove that certain lunkhead wrong~..." Natsu's grimace lightened up to a mischievous sneer when a deliciously satisfying thought crossed her mind. "Saaaaay...you're not getting all wound up on me about goin home cause you're nervous about possibly losing to a guuurl...are you?"

"There is a difference between defending yourself and fighting, Natsuko-chan." Goto said sternly, crossing his arms. "And your height is even more of a reason for me to be concerned about you! You're my Imouto! I wish you would choose to do something that didn't involve fighting one bit!"

Goto continued to scowl at his energetic sibling while the two exchanged words. Something they had done on many previous occasions. This was the time when Goto felt more like a father than a brother. He longed for the days when Natsuko was just his younger sister and looked up to him. Seeing her grow into a young woman, especially one determined to follow in his footsteps was difficult for a lot of reasons.

"I don't think there's any dishonor in being a great female wrestler, Natsuko-chan." He said. Natsuko's persistence was difficult to deal with, but Goto felt like he could handle it. That was, until he saw Natsuko's smile. It was always harder to deal with that than her stubbornness which he was certain he could match or surpass.

However, the last line bolstered his crumbling defenses and reinvigorated him. "Please!" He said, waving a hand at her. "Don't be ridiculous, Natsuko-chan. I'm certain after one or two matches, they will be matching me up with men exclusively." Goto shook his head. "Don't worry about me, Natsuko-chan. I will, of course, be fine!" He said and puffed out his chest.

"Uh-huh~...SURRRRE you'll be fine~..." Natsuko playfully nudged her elbow into her stalwart brother's arm, her impish grin indicating the girlish glee she was having from ribbing on Fujio. "I dunnoooo~...maybe I'M not the one who's gonna be needing to be rescued and getting the damsel in distress treatment. Well don't you worry, I'll keep those big-bag ladies from picking on ya...*giggle*..." Natsu gleefully continued to imagine just how much crow her brother would have to eat if that scenario actually came to pass.

Inwardly, Natsu appreciated the levity all this good-natured teasing was adding to the conversation. Her brother was kinda bumming her out with all of his constant concerns for her safety, but Natsu knew deep down it was all coming from the heart and with nothing but the best intentions. Being under his guardianship and tutelage for practically all of her life had left an imprint of him as more than just her brother...

"Hey..." Natsu stepped in front of Goto and glanced upward with as warm-hearted a smile she could muster. "I'm not totally clueless as to what could happen to me out there. I know...I won't be the strongest. Or the fastest. And I know how south things can go. But I didn't spend the last few years twiddling my thumbs while you were off doing the whole...martial arts prodigy thing. I've been watching all your bouts and trained and trained and trained some more to get ready for this. Besides, the guys here wouldn't have given me the time of day if they thought I couldn't hack it." Natsu scratched the back of her head and winced slightly before continuing, hoping she was making some sense here.

"...this is something I need to do...and, sure, I'll probably bust my ass a few times...but that's when I'll need my big bro to dust me off and pick me back up, right?..Nii-san?" Natsu folded her hands and spoke much more softly towards her brother with a hopeful look in her eyes, pleading for her brother to have her back on this one. Idolizing her brother's strength and confidence was what mainly had compelled her to sign up for Tension...and his approval in any facet would mean the world to her...

"Nnnnn."

Goto kept his arms crossed and looked at Natsuko as she teased. His gaze remained stern and unimpressed. However, as his sister continued, he felt himself softening a bit. Unfortunately, she knew how to tear down his walls and melt his heart. Now matter how he thought or felt about things in general, he loved his sister and he didn't really want to control her life. He just wanted her to be safe and happy.

Goto finally sighed when she finished. "Na-chan." He said softly. "You may have boyish dreams, but you've certainly developed a keen sense of the guile possessed by women. Heh, it's too much for any man to handle." Goto said and shrugged. "A woman's trickery and a man's stubbornness? It's impossible for me to keep going." Goto reached out and ruffled Natsuko's hair and then turned away. He sighed softly again and then crossed his arms once more.

"But." He stated firmly. "If I ever think for a moment that you're in real danger, I won't hesitate to step in and if I think you can't handle it, then I'm pulling you from this league and you will go to university like a proper girl your sage should. Understand?"

Tugging at her big brother's heart strings was a deceitful tactic Natsu had honed over years of begging Goto to take her with him whenever he was going out with his martial arts buddies, or if she was ever hankering for some ice cream. Though her puppy-dog eyes and referring to him as "Ni-san" were arsenals in her repertoire, she couldn't have been more soulfully honest with everything she had said. Natsu was hoping beyond hope that Goto would redirect some of that concern for her well-being into actual encouragement for what she loved to do...and scuffling up her already ruffled hair was always a good sign!!

Natsu perked back up with a shining smile and wrapped her arms around her admired brother for the closest thing resembling an affectionate bearhug she could manage considering their major size difference. "YES!!!! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!" Natsu ecstatically cheered, not paying any mind to his mentioning of her going to a university. She omitted the parts she didn't like and basically heard what she wanted to hear, namely that her brother was all in and had her back through thick and thin!!

She released her bulky brother and stepped back to place her fists on her hips as if she were a posing superhero, beaming proudly that she outlasted her brother's grumpiness. "And don't you worry one iota about me, big bro Fujio!! I promise I'll be super careful from here on out. I'll take things reeeeal slow, ease myself into things, and make sure not to get in way over my head with this-"

"Next..." The receptionist said to get their attention and keep the line moving.

"Ah, one sec..." Natsu spun in place to approach the front desk, placing her I.D. and a thumb drive containing their respective entrance songs on the table. "Natsuko Arisawa~...Reporting for duty~...Oh, has my request for a tag match been approved yet or are we still waiting back on the other guys?"
