Moment's Respite (For HighFly)

The evening following a resounding beating, Blaise has found himself shuttled off to the hospital. Mako pounded away at his torso like a piston drilling for oil, and Blaise's everything hurt. Though the doctors checked him over extensively, they fortunately found nothing broken - but insisted he remain overnight to ensure there weren't any unseen complications that may arise.

That isn't to say Blaise is itching to do breakdancing, feeling the way he does now. Aside from the persistent physical pain (fortunately dulled by a generous dose of acetaminophen), Blaise is a confused, jumbled mess. He nearly lost his career tonight. He didn't, because Amy ran in to make the save. But Amy called him a loser and didn't seem like much of a friend. The teen's head is numbed.

It's late. Blaise's bed is propped up at a 45-degree angle. The television remote is in reach, but he seems content to stare listlessly at a Japanese gameshow currently playing out; a trivia show. Get the answer wrong, you get a slap. Normally, the effervescent Blaise would guffaw at this, as if he knew the answers the contestants didn't. But for now, he can't focus.

Once Suzumi heard about Blaise being crazy and entering a loser leaves type of match, she did her best to hightail it to his side. Unfortunately, she was a few hours away at the time and when she got to the Tension arena the match was already over, with Blaise having been at the wrong end of a nasty beatdown.

Suzumi rushed to the hospital, filled with guilt for not being there. A good girlfriend would have been right there with him to prevent this. Suzumi was a bad girlfriend. She rushed past people pausing only for directions to Blaise's room. As soon as she entered Suzumi stood over Blaise, bending at the waist and grabbing him in a hug!

"Blaise, I am like soooo sorry for not being there! I didn't know you were going to get into a crazy match and I didn't make it in time! Please please please please forgive me for not being there, it won't happen again! I will take care of you and we'll get back at those dumb bitches Blaise!" Suzumi rattled off at Suzumi-panic-speech speed.

Suzumi bursts into the room, earning a quick look from Blaise. But before he manages to get out a meek, "Suz-," before he yelps in her arms. It's mostly out of pure reaction than pain; those meds are doing a solid job.

"Easy, easy," he offers with a mild, subdued smile. "It's okay. Things happened. I'm okay. Nothing broken. Doctors just wanna make sure an eyeball doesn't pop out overnight." He wriggles a little, uncertain where or what to do with Suzumi attached to him. Does he make more room on the bed? Squirm to try to reciprocate? He opts to try to solve their problem with a less subtle, "Wanna sit?"

Suzumi was happy that Blaise hadn't initially screamed at her for not being there and he didn't seem mad at her, that helped put the nervous young woman at ease for sure.

Suzumi nodded and sat in a chair next to the bed. She held out a hand and grabbed one of Blaises hands. "I just... you know, I like totally let you down. When you needed me at your side the most I wasn't there." She stated meekly, in an apologetic tone. She let out a sigh as she waited for Blaise to respond. She looked him in the eyes, doing her best to smile despite feeling like she had screwed up in a big way.

Blaise's disappointment in her choice of seat is made clear when he tugs on her hand. "No, no. Up here. With me." He doesnt turn her loose, though. He may feel like no one believes in him, but he can settle for having someone who assuredly cares. That counts.

"This was something I needed to do. It's... it's okay. I'm okay," he reassures. His tone remains at the south side of the proverbial levy, the weight of the evening unshakable. "I'm glad you're here now, at least. They have me nice'n doped up, so it doesn't even hurt that bad. But I tell ya, if you wanted an easy win on me, now's the time to go for the pin. Hah.. hah..." His eyes shift awkwardly. "..Heh."

Suzumi was happy that Blaise wasn't mad. Even if he was loopy the reassurance was comforting. She snuggled up against as much as she could given the setting. She wanted Blaise to recover after all... making her earlier bearhug seem that much more ridiculous.

"Blaise, we'll get through this. Just think before you act next time, and totally include me in your fun!" Suzumi said, her smile now beaming and voice back to its usual upbeat happy squeal. "Once you get discharged I will stay with you so you can take it easy. Just let good old Suzie-girl make everything better." Suzumi said as she gently stroked his forehead wither her free hand.

Think before he acts? That sounds like Amy-talk again. Enough so to make him suspicious that she may have talked with the blonde before coming to see him.

"I did think," asserts Blaise, his voice taking on a huff. "I thought I could end it all right then and there." He draws in a slow, composing breath before submitting, "I'm apparently the only one who thought that."

Suzumi's back to her old self, it sounds like. Blaise is still a ways off. The beating he took was a sobering one - the sort that makes one's life flash before their eyes. Not for nearing death, but for seeing everything they'd wanted to do with their life going up in smoke. And there wasn't a thing he could do about that. He wasn't even in the right mind when he entered the ring. Nothing about tonight went well.

Suzumi could hear the pain in Blaises voice. It was so bad that it hurt her too. She wanted to make him feel better, but outside the ring she was struggling to think of what would make him feel better. Suzumi knew Blaise. He wanted to step back in the ring and win some matches. Right now that wasn't an option available to them.

Suzumi stayed silent and did what she felt was most natural. She gave Blaise a nice, big, kiss. If that didn't begin to cheer him up, or at least make him a sort of loopy-happy while on his painkillers, she didn't know what would.

Blaise's glassy blue eyes set on the television screen suspended against the wall again. The room is silent, but for the sound of a gameshow host's righteous slap upon contestant face. He feels the bed shifting as Suzumi rolls towards him, and finds himself once again taken by surprise. Her lips seal to his in a kiss, suddenly bringing him to focus. It takes a second for reality to sink in, but once it, does, he breathes a soft sigh against her face through his nose, and returns the kiss with a gentle affection.

Blaise releases her hand in favor of looping her waist, attempting to get her cuddled in closer to him. Her ploy has worked, if at least to some degree. "At least tell me you whipped some chick's butt tonight. You had a match, right..? Was it before or after we talked on the phone?" He's making a lot of assumptions here, he's aware. But he wants to think about something else for a moment. And no matter whether or not she believes in him, he's still one of her biggest fans.

Suzumi looked down at Blaise after the kiss with a nice big smile. "Nope, no matches for me lately but thats gonna change soon! I am gonna go up against Teddycat Hori soon, and I am pretty sure I could arrange for her to meet ya afterwards..." Suzumi said, hoping that would get a positive reaction from Blaise.

Suzumi knew how much he loved the Wrestle Angels ladies... well, she had first hand experience of that. She already had an idea formulating in the back of her head to have Mikoto on hand backstage for that match as well... maybe Panther Risako too. Whatever it would take to make Blaise feel better about his last match Suzumi was going to do it.
