Off the World

"I don't know, Clyde." Mercy said when Clyde got defensive.

"You did think it was ok to just pop back up here and bring me coffee. How do you think that conversation would have gone if I hadn't have called you?" She said and crossed her arms. "I guess it's nice to know that if you slept with me while I was black out drunk, you'd be nice enough to be there in the morning..." Mercy added. She really wasn't sure why she was being so hard on him, but she was a little scared.

She turned her head and chewed on her lip. She couldn't be mad at him. She wasn't. Whatever happened was entirely her fault and she knew it, even if it WAS weird that Clyde just HAPPENED to find her and be the one to take care of her.

Mercy sighed. "It's ... fine, I guess." She said, waving her hand at him as she pressed the other one against her forehead. "Thanks, Clyde." She said and looked up at him, pursing her lips and lowering her eyes in apology.

Clyde frowned when Mercy pointed out his mistake of sorts. He didn't think about that and lowered his head slightly. "Well..." He tried to say before going quiet. He knew he was no saint, but he wished she trusted him. But maybe it was his fault for not handling things better.

Mercy apologizing however made Clyde's eyes shoot wide open as he looked at her and saw her genuine remorse! This was a rare thing!

"Hey... Nah. It's fine." Clyde said with a smile, putting his hands on Mercy's shoulders. "I... I'm sorry I didn't leave a note or something I guess... Or call you before I asked to come over but still, Mercy...." He struggled to say what he wanted to say, he didn't want to be too forward.

"I know I'ma lil rough 'round the edges, but c'mon. Even this cowboy got a set of morals..."  He mused to her while flashing a wink and a smile.

"...Especially when it comes ta you..."

Mercy shook her head. "It's fine." She said and looked over Clyde. "I don't think you're a bad person or anything but sometimes I think that you still think that because we used to date you can still act like together. That's all." She said.

Mercy turned her head and blushed. "I shouldn't have gotten that drunk though. That's my fault and the best possible outcome of so many horrible outcomes happened." She thought aloud. "So, I dunno." Mercy said and looked around. "Um... How have you been?" She asked.

"Huh... Never once considered that." Clyde said, a bit curious. He didn't consider that he acted like he and Mercy were still together. He was still having the occasional date.... Or abandoning them.

"Well good thing it all worked it!" He beamed to Mercy before hearing her question.

"Uh... Well... I been okay. Working out, competing, helping Bonnie and Duffy against Allison and uh... I guess goin' to trance clubs now, heh." He mused while honestly thinking about Keiko.

"What about you? I heard what about what happened. Lukretia sucks." And she did before that too!

"Oh, yeah, I guess that woman is still around." Mercy said and turned her head to stare off in the distance. AFW problems weren't really her problems anymore. She didn't mind that, sort of.

"Ah, yeah, well, it's fine. I'm finally free of the company, kind of. I'll get a wrestling stipend, but I'm NOT getting in the ring again." She said, furrowing her brow and shaking her head. "I can find a job in a real law firm." Mercy said. "Or, I dunno, maybe I can move back to New York. That might be nice." She said, thinking it over. "I guess I kind of forgot I missed it... I remember I used to hate Japan..." She said thoughtfully and then realized what she was saying.

"I still do!" She said, furrowing her brow as she redoubled herself.

Clyde shifted his feet and bore a noticeable frown that carried a hint of worry. He didn't know what to think of Mercy going back to New York. But sometimes he missed the quiet life and tall grass in Liberty too.

"And here I thought you loved Japan." He said, honestly amused and raising a brow at her. It was a little disappointed, he got into Japanese culture more after they went to Harajuku.

"Look on the bright side. You're the first woman in AFW ta' retire undefeated!"

"I do not love Japan, Clyde." Mercy said, looking at the Texan with a frown. She then turned her head and blushed. "Heh, I don't think that's very comforting. I'm not really, anyway. There's lots of girls who win a match or two and then just drop off for whatever reason." Mercy shrugged.

Mercy then looked at Clyde. "I... really tried to do all those things?" She said. "Man, I can barely remember anything that happened last night..." She said, pressing her palm into her forehead. "I really need to ... stop drinking..." She said and closed her eyes. "But, it's not like I TRY! It's just one cocktail turns into two and then I'm buzzed and want some more and then... You know, I only really do this when I'm feeling really bad or feeling really good.."

Mercy sighed. "And here I tell you not to do it and I'm probably worse. At least you didn't go around trying to give blow jobs in a taxi when you got drunk you just..." Mercy paused and turned her head. "Had sex with a stranger. No." She decided. "You're worse." She looked at Clyde seriously and then smirked a bit.

"Yeeeaaahhh..." Clyde looked to the side and scratched his cheek nervously, knowing some details he left out so he wouldn't embarrass Mercy. She didn't remember her constant drive for sex, her kissing him or saying this might be his last chance.

He tried not to smirk when Mercy spoke about herself being bad when she was drunk... Only to turn it right back on him!

At first, his face drooped but then he saw that smirk and blushed, guilty as charged.

"She wasn't just any stranger though. She was a real firecracker. I honestly couldn't turn her down." He said through a wide smile as he shrugged in a joking manner. "I dunno If I'm worse though..." He teased looking off and rubbing the back of his neck while grinning.

"She's pretty bad. I don't mind her sloppy drunk kisses either." He added while looking at Mercy, chuckling softly.

Mercy rolled her eyes at Clyde. He was still the same goofy cheeseball he had always been. She couldn't help but smile a bit though. "Yeah, yeah yeah." She said and waved him off.

She took a sip from her coffee and then set it down. "So other than picking up super hot sknanks from clubs and bars, how have things been going?" She asked. "Have you been being good? Staying safe? How's school coming along?" She asked genuinely.

Clyde saw Mercy smile a little bit. Seeing that made him smile widely.

"'Course I been good!" He beamed proudly, he really had been. But safe?

"Uhh..." Clyde rubbed the back of his neck. "Well I been okay and school's alright. I've been taking it slower, right now I'm attendin' night classes to learn Japanese." Said Clyde, knowing his schooling had suffered since Mercy left him and that if he wasn't getting tasered by Emily he was getting thrown through tables by King.
