Grudge Match: Captain America v Winter Soldier (Cosplay)

Dave recognized the armbar from his previous match with Jean. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to escape this time. The pain caused him to grit his teeth, holding back a shout, while his other arm reached for the nearby ropes, which were his only chance to escape.

The Winter Soldier continued to work the armbar, tightening the grip he had on David's wrist and forearm. The gloves assisted in providing good traction against the material of David's cosplay; he wasn't going anywhere any time soon. He also knew that should David reach the ropes, that he'd have to give up the armbar and that simply wasn't an option.

The Winter Soldier began twisting David's arm and jerking it the opposite direction of the ropes, so that he would fall back away from them. Letting go momentarily with the metal arm, the Winter soldier bent his arm and drove his elbow harshly into David's forearm.

David cried out in pain as he felt his arm being twisted. It didn't help when he felt the Winter Soldier dig his elbow into Dave's arm either. Gritting his teeth, he managed to get a hold of the ropes, forcing his opponent to release the hold. Thanks to the padded material, his arm felt really sore, but no permanent damage. Getting up, he aimed a high kick, knocking down the Winter Soldier, giving him enough time slip out of the ring and scoop up his shield. Jumping back into the ring, he readied his shield, not wanting to give his opponent the advantage.

The Winter Soldier kept holding on and working the armbar on David even after he reached the ropes. It wasn't until the ref warned him for the second time to release him that he complied, but not without kicking him in order to push away.

The high kick narrowly skimmed over the top of his head as he ducked right away, but getting back to a ready position, he found his opponent slipping out of the ring. Sensing a moment of opportunity, the Winter Soldier scanned the ring for his own weapon and found it in an adjacent corner. He dove and rolled dramatically to get the crowd going as he grabbed his taser, looking up to find that his opponent was climbing back into the ring.

The Winter Soldier stood and faced down his opponent, they had reached a standoff where they both had a weapon at their disposal. Even so, the Winter Soldier was at a disadvantage; while a taser was an effective offense, it had limited defense capabilities compared to a shield that could defend and strike.

The Winter Soldier decided to take initiative and attack first. He charged at David and jumped high, aiming to drive his knee down into David's chest. However, he fully expected to be blocked by the shield, which is why his arm was also swinging, aiming to drive the business end of the taser into the shield arm after.

Dave saw the taser in his opponents hand as he jumped at Dave. For a split second Dave had to choose to be hit by the knee or the taser, and in the end, chose to let the knee hit him, using the opportunity to bring the edge of the shield crashing into the Winter Soldier's skull. Using his free hand, he grabbed his opponent's wrist, keeping the weapon from coming in contact with his body.

Dave letting the knee strike him him was not what the Winter Soldier had planned for, and he received a strike to the skull from the edge of the shield as a reward. As David grabbed for the Winter Soldier's taser arm, he reached for the shield arm so that they both had a hold of each other, struggling for control. Their arms bulged through the fabric of their suits as they fought to prevent the other from further attack, seemingly at a stalemate once again.

Despite the Winter Soldier's best efforts however, he appeared to be losing the struggle to Captain America. In an exciting display of dexterity, the Winter Soldier salvaged the situation by using David's strength and effort against him; the Winter Soldier suddenly stopped resisting and dropped the taser and in fact tugged backwards. Falling down onto his back, the Winter Soldier planted his feet into David's waist and catapulted him over onto his back with a monkey flip.

Dave was caught by surprise by being flipped into the air, but tucked his legs in, somersaulting in midair before sticking the landing a few feet away from his opponent.

'Whoever he is, he's good. Better than good, all things considered.' Dave thought, thinking back to them struggling over their respective weapons.

As the Winter Soldier was getting to his feet, Dave slid under his guard, twisting his arm away from his body so he could connect his shield in another brutal bash to the brains. For good measure, Dave caught him with a kick to the chest, putting his weight behind it.

The Winter Soldier took a little bit longer to get up after the most recent bash to the head with the shield. It was made of real metal after all, and it's effects were pretty much the same as being hit with a chair from under the ring. First he rolled back to his chest, rubbing the top of his head before heaving to his knees. He stumbled a bit but made it back to his feet, assuming the attack stance yet again, but chest moving more quickly as his breathing rate increased.

The Winter Soldier threw himself backwards into the ropes to increase his speed and launched himself across the ring. However rather than striking at David, he feinted and bounced into the ropes again and jumped to dropkick David from behind if he didn't react fast enough.

Dave was prepared as soon as the Winter Soldier had dodged him to rebound off the ropes. Spinning around in a 180 degree turn, he slammed the shield into the man's head and chest, putting his weight behind it and knocking him back. Trying once more, he performed a spinning kick, knocking his opponent into the nearby corner post.

Seizing the opportunity, he closed in curling his fist and punching the man square in the jaw with all his strength.

The Winter Soldier gasped when the shield was smashed into his chest before he could do his dropkick, clutching at his chest. The spin kick blasted him into the corner post and almost knocked him clean off his feet, and the final punch smashed into his jaw, throwing his head back with the impact and knocking him to the ground. The goggles that covered the Winter Soldier's eyes flew off of his face and into the air, revealing at least partially the identity of the other cosplayer. Despite the smoky eyeshadow used to obscure his eyes in true homage to the movie character, it was clear that it was Jean Richards once he opened his eyes.

Jean glared up at David with hate and pain in his eyes. Jean ripped off the muzzle facepiece as well, gasping as he sucked in a fresh bout of air. "Surprise" he said bitterly, grabbing the ropes as he pulled himself up. Even if David realized how wrong he had been, it was too late for Jean to care.

"Believe me now?" he yelled, charging low at David's waist and tackling him to the ground. He quickly mounted him and grabbed his collar. Jean raised a fist back fueled with emotion and drove it into David's face. "This was all for you!"
