Makie Akamatsu vs. Armando 'Army' Rodriguez - Let's You and Him Fight, Part 2

And down she went.

The crowd jumped back after the impact, and if Army had been in a position for it, he might have, too. Makie landed hard. Damn hard. No movement, no fight to be seen in her. It wasn’t the prettiest sight, especially after the crazy fight she’d put up.

But that wouldn’t stop him from taking advantage of it.

He reached over her body, hooked her leg, pulled it up and went for the pin. The referee dropped down beside them and started the count, not missing a single beat.

"1...!"

The crowd watched, and waited, anxious to see if Makie would somehow break the pinfall. The Akamatsu girl was renowned for her energy, determination, and her never-say-die attitude, and many in the audience were certain that, somehow, Makie would find a way to recover from that brutal fall. As Army arched her leg for a pin, however, Makie didn't respond-- her eyes remained closed, and her only movement was the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed lightly.

"TWO!" the ref girl, and the crowd, continued.

Army almost thought Makie might rise up, like some sort of movie villain right before the climax. The girl was like a living, Japanese Terminator. She just kept coming and coming and coming, and at this point, it wouldn't have surprised him too much if she kicked out. It would only be the latest unbelievable thing in a string of unbelievable things.

But, no. She didn't kick out. She barely even moved. As the  referee's hand came down, she couldn't do a thing to avoid it.

"3...!"

The crowd cheered, loud and wild. Army sighed, quiet and calm. It had been a long, grueling day.

"Fucking..." He flopped on his back and stared at the ceiling as his music began to play over the crowd's roar. "...finally."

The ring of the bell, and the roar of the crowd, were all lost on Makie, however. The Japanese girl remained lying on her back, eyes closed, breathing only the faintest of breaths. It looked like, after all of the pummeling she had received at Army's hands in this match, she had finally reached the limit of her endurance.

In an instant, the ref girl was leaning over the two downed wrestlers, checking to see if either of them was badly injured. A tap on her cheek elicited a tired groan from Makie, but not much else in the way of response.
