I take it that was suppose to be your crown before deciding to be a crownless king. :3

OH! There was Kamen Rider Skull Crystal, too!
But an Indiana Jones movie involving a crystal skull of some sort? You're all mad.

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
Vaguely on-topic response ahoy!
Is anyone else really quite confused about how much backlash there has been towards John Boyega (the black guy in the stormtrooper armour right at the start of the teaser trailer), because the Empire is meant to be modelled on the whole Hitler/Nazi/"Master Race" idea and they feel a black stormtrooper goes against that?
Did those people forget that the Empire was built by the massive army of clones who were all distinctly NOT white? Jango's actor was Maori.
Personally I'm cautiously optimistic for these films, but can't say the teaser trailer left a huge impact on me - I didn't hate it, but it didn't get me all that hyped for it either.

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
I think what the main critical reception will be is:
"It's a good film, but it isn't Star Wars, because this isn't the 70-80s anymore"
fan reception will be:
"OMG THEY RUINED IT ALL HATE HATE HATE HATE LUCAS SHOULD DIE A DEATH OF A THOUSAND STD'S"
and Lucas's reception will be:
"LOOK AT ALL MY FUCKING MONEY! I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT FOREVER! LETS REMAKE AMERICAN GRAFFITI TO GET MELS DINER MORE BUSINESS!"

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
People that actually understand things will know that Disney isn't going to mess it up. Many have the attitude that it can't be worse than what Lucas would do anyway.
I personally find all of it a bit on the overrated side. The movies are pretty good, but I never found them to be OMG this is so epic!
But, I wasn't living the moment and that's a lot of what a lot of things in general are about.
The reason the second trilogy didn't do as good as the first isn't necessarily because they were bad movies it's because it's almost impossible to recreate something organic. The reason the first trilogy was so successful was BECAUSE the fandom for it was sprung from organic roots.
People want to relive that sensation of awe and the cynicism of age as well as nostalgia make it hard for the original fans to reclaim. Combine that with the attempt to manufacture something and you get a new generation that's more or less "eh, what's the big deal?" because the magic simply wasn't there.
I think that the new movies will most likely be much better because there's really no expectations. If they are bad, so what? People will just say that the second trilogy was bad and that's that. They still have the first movies and all the other stuff they've invested in to fulfill what they need to fulfill.
The new movies can take chances again too. In part because they aren't constrained by previous movies as much as the second trilogy. They don't need to set up anything. I think that's why you see things like the hilted light saber and the bouncy ball robot and the "black storm trooper." (whatever it means ~.~)
IN SUMMATION.
Just sit back and relax and enjoy the ride. Maybe you'll find some new magic. :3

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
I do plan to watch it when it comes out, if it's bad no surprise whatsoever. If it's decent then holy shit. I just hope they don't try to use the original cast of characters, and no I don't mean the actors since obviously Mark Hamel and Harrison Ford cannot do their roles as Luke and Han again unless it was some voice acting. The best part will be finding out if that rumor of bringing Darth Vader back is false.

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
most of the original cast CAN do their original roles and I think are o.O
the back three have always been about rebuilding the force. It takes place 20-30 years in the future, if I remember correctly. So, they are almost all perfectly aged.

Re: TAI HAS NEVER SEEN STAR WARS
This thread should not be this popular....
I have no interest in seeing the new star wars. I just don't care. I never saw the originals, I didn't care for what I've seen of the prequels, and about the only thing I've liked is the Force Unleashed games.
I also have no interest in seeing Annie....because Annie is stupid. It was stupid when it had white people in it, it'll be stupid with black people in it, only now we get to have racists yelling about it on twitter.

The internet is filled with racist, sexist assholes. It has nothing to do with going against anything, it just has to do with people being morons. ~_~
Most of the major cast members from the original trilogy have already been confirmed as returning, so...CybeastGregarX wrote:I do plan to watch it when it comes out, if it's bad no surprise whatsoever.
