Breaking the Tension! Episode 1: The Takeuchi Siblings

Patty was unpissable - years of rigorous journalistic training had prepared her for the absolute worst Ami could dish out. She could put up the stop signs, barricade the roads, but no matter what, Patty would get through. Like a smuggler...for the truth!

Ran made sure to circle around and get a good shot of the room when Ami mentioned it - big rule, always show, never just tell. Patty took pride - she had trained her little Japanese understudy well. "Now, about your matches, isn't it true that you've also participated in Friction? One of the common complaints is that Tension has no dedicated female roster, that the girls are always moonlighting between factions. Don't you feel that's adding to the problem? Will this friction forays be frequent?" Ooo, alliteration. Bonus points.

Patty was getting down to the more technical stuff, from asking questions about Ami's future plans and her past to AFW's style of rosters and the problems that surge around from readily switching from Tension to Friction. Truth be told she thought this whole thing was silly, the AFW was so diverse,so multi cultured and many different match types. Ami thought it was odd that Tension should be restricted to just Tension etc.

"Mhm yes its true actually. Well here's what I think honestly, the Tension female roster should automatically be included as Friction ,so they can have female vs female matches purely against Tension or Friction. I mean it shouldn't make a difference right? Its female vs female wrestling techincally. Tension girls have the opportunity to wrestle Tension guys,Tension girls and Friction girls. So thats three pool of rosters they can choose from,while Friction can chose from two only and Tension guys only have 1 to choose from, unless they want to wrestle men, then they too have two options. So I guess you can say, Tension girls have the toughest job here with competitors flying from anywhere". Ami said all that in a more straight face, she liked that question and was happy to answer it. Although as she did she lost her ditsy moe attitude along the way, " Erm- I mean....like, like, atleast thats what Ami-chan thinks *giggle* she said with a forced smile.

What was that? She got all serious and legitimately answered the question. What the heck was that all about?

She gave herself a hard inward - Patty should have seen that coming. She had her guard down and paid for it. Ami was playing the fool! Playing it so well that it was hard to imagine it was all just a play, but all the same, expertly done. Patty had to take a moment to rethink her strategy. Stick with this line of questioning, and if that didn't work, hit, run and hide, like the highland way.

"A fair point. She conceded."However, as you pointed out, that leaves the male wrestlers somewhere in the cold - the female roster is only a fraction of friction's already, and with them switching sides, that makes it even harder to find dedicated opponents. And while you certain have more to deal with between brands, one could argue that it presents more opportunities as well - more opponents means more matches, which gives you more money. Not to mention more titles to challenge for, more PPVs to attend..."

Excellent recovery. She almost patted herself on the back.

Nice.Fucking.Try. Just like Patty, Ami wasnt going to drop her guard for the second time as well. She got a bit excited and loosened up a bit to answer that one question which she actually felt was a worthwhile question to answer but she was quick to realize she was on camera and couldnt afford much slip ups and risk showing her true nature to her fans.

To be fair she did try to answer the question in her own way, "Weeeeellllll I suuuuppppoooseeee so! In that way I guess the guys are a bit unlucky, sowieee all you guys *pouts* *winks*". Patty made a fair point as she continued on with the interview and Ami agreed with it, *giggle* Well yeah, but Ami-chan doesnt need money. I just needed to show my family that Ami-chan can keep up with the tradition and like, wrestle as well. So I dont go for the money, just for the competition, PPV and championships" she replied with a huge smile on her face.

Why did she keep referring to herself in the third person? Patty had never met anyone who did that in real life, only wrestlers.

Well, whatever - this had been a good venture, all around, but one of the keys to a successful interview is know when to end it, and this one had just about run its course. Patty had all the footage she needed for a primo video - this was front page Youtube material. At least for an hour or so, until someone put up a video of a cat doing karate or something stupid like that.

...though, now that she thought about it, that wasn't a bad idea. Maybe. "This might be a little bit of a non-sequitar, but...do you have a cat?"

It looked like the interview had almost run its course, Patty had probably run out of questions or perhaps even if she did had some questions left she must be realizing that this interview might get a bit too long. Well, lets wrap it up!.

Then it came......really? that was random, out of the blue. "Ummm....what? Well, we dont actually own any pet. Why?"Ami asked with a puzzled look on her face. Maybe Patty was looking for some extra view points by putting a cute kitty in the video I mean, everyone likes cat videos, right?

Drat! Double drat! Well, that was easily solved - they'd stop by the pound later and just take some shots of a random fleebag. A little creative editing, some voiceovers, and viola! Say hello to the Takeuchi's pet cat, Mittens. Unless they ate cats in Japan. Did they? Or was it dogs? Whatever.

"Well, folks, there you have it!" She spun around to Ran started a slow walk her way, making sure to put a little extra strut in her step. "The Takeuchi siblings are set to take Tension by storm. Who's going to stand in their way? How far will they go? Who know. But when they get there, remember where you heard of them, who gave you the inside look!" She bent over and gave the camera a long wink.

"This is Patty O' Malley with Breaking the Tension!" She did a quick spin on her heels and threw up a peace sign as her hair jiggled all about. "Holler at your girl!"

"Annnnnnd...cut." Ran closed up camera, and thus ended the show.

"Scene!" Patty rushed over to give the footage a quick preview along with Ran, watching through the viewfinder as she rewound.

It looks like the interview was finally over- good thing too because Ami did not know how long she could put her up act. As she heard Ran calling it "Cut" she let out a sigh and relaxed her shoulders a bit while ceasing in making that forced smile she was doing during the interview. She saw Patty go over to the camerawoman as both of them previewed the footage, she began to fold her arms and tapped the floor with her foot.

"Ok ok you two, interview is over. You can do...erm, whatever is it that your doing at your house. So get out MY house before I call the cops on you for trespassing on private property" she ranted on while pointing to the main hall entrance, where the main door was and from where these two nosy brats came in from.

Ha! That showed the difference between Japan and America. In America, freedom of speech was respected - the public had a right to know the juicy details, had the right to see the nitty gritty, go where certain people didn't want prying eyes to be. It was time the land of the rising sun had a real journalistic awakening, and Patty would be the one serving them bacon and eggs.

...minor note, she would have to check and see if they had an IHOPs in Japan.

"Watch it, missy." She wagged a finger Ami's way. "The camera only adds ten pounds, but with Photoshop, I can add a lot more." She turned her nose up at Ami as best she could and strolled out - she had a long night of editing ahead of her.

Ami shook her first at Patty when she talked smack back at her, she stomped her foot on the floor in anger while watching Patty strolling out of the west wing and out of the mansion eventually. She calmed down and breathed a huge sigh of relied before taking her cellphone out and using the "front camera" function to check her face and body out.

"Hmph! Who's that bitch calling fat? I'm not fat....I dont look fat on camera either" she said pouting and flicking her hair back behind her ear before finally getting back to her daily scheduled. The Takeuchi siblings wonder what this interview will bring- new opponents? new rivals? title shots? PPV opportunities? Also, whether they would get to meet Patty again someday?.
