Boys and Stuff

Talia bit her tongue rather hardly. She could taste blood but didn't care. It was clearly a sore topic for Cassie and she didn't want to push the topic any further. Even if Cassie didn't want to admit it, she could see the care in her eyes, in the way she spoke. Talia didn't want to point it out. It wasn't really her place to tell people about what that really felt. She was a horrible model for self-acceptance.

When Cassie showed her the picture of Shinobu, it struck her as an odd thing for Cassie to say. She suspected it was all just talk to try and force the two pass the topic before it. Nevertheless, Talia smiled and nodded. "Yea, he is." She knew she had to be a good friend before anything else. As much as she wanted to help Cassie, she didn't want to overstep her limits. Especially when it involved Mamouru. She wanted what was best for Cassie. Not necessarily that dirtbag.

"A Hollywood party, you say? Excited?" she feigned interest, not convinced of Cassie's sincerity. "I haven't really gone to something like that in awhile. I think my last party was for my birthday two years ago. You know...my birthday's coming up in a week. Do you want to umm...I don't know...do something?" She felt at a loss for ideas. Birthday dinners were fun. But they required more than 1 guest.

"I am excited!" Cassie said with a pleased little smile. Her eyes lingered on the picture of Shinobu for a moment before she put the phone away. "He's a sweetie. I haven't really seen a sweet guy who wasn't married in... a long time. And going to a party like that, it's so exciting! Except that I don't have a thing... to... wear."

She took the change in subject as a great way to push Mamouru completely out of her mind. "Of course! We could... I dunno, was there anything you wanted to do? What day is your birthday?" She put a pensive finger to her lips while she thought, and then raised it up in front of her. "We could go shopping! For date clothes!" Eureka!
