Ah good old Bile fascination[/url:13e4xtrq]. Nothing like looking at something bad that leaves a smile on your face. " title="Very Happy" />

I watched Dragonball Z about ten years ago as a kid. I liked it. I only just now started watching Dragonball Abridged, and holy shit, it is one of the funniest, most well-done series I have ever seen. So much better than the original show.

Watched DBZ as a kid as well, good show but in retrospect I laugh at quite a few things about it. Guess that's part of the charm. " title="Smile" />

A lot of parts of DBZ still hold up pretty well, especially a lot of the fight scenes from the Cell saga.

To confess, I honestly only watch DBZ now to imagine what the voice actors was going through during recording.

Sean Schemmel (Goku's voice actor) actually passed out in the recording booth during the Super Saiyan 3 transformation. He just couldn't maintain that scream at first.

Re: Your Guilty Pleasure? (Not as bad as it sounds)
DBZ is all kind of awesome if you don`t have to watch it on TV where you can't escape the nearly endless filler stuff and don`t mind the fact the the Z group is basically useless with the exception of Picollo and Tenshin Han to a much lesser extend. My favorite guy in that series is actually Captain Ginyu, the only henchman ever to defeat the super hero, and at a point where 180K battle power was actually high.
I also feel for Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants. He is a snob, but all of his neighbors and his boss are morons of the highest degree.
My own gilty pleasure is Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs. The main character is stale, the young gun is rather boring and the interesting character is not heavily featured, filler episodes are basically the same with only names of bad guys changing. But the concept itself is great, and the series massively picks up with the introduction of Jesse Blue.
A lot of parts of DBZ still hold up pretty well, especially a lot of the fight scenes from the Cell saga.
Cell Saga was by far the best saga on the show.
There's a video on youtube, 10 minutes long, of the final beam struggle between Gohan and Cell. It's basically 8 minutes of intense, back and forth suspense (Beam struggle, Supporting cast attacks), 1 minute of despair(Supporting cast falls, Gohan wavers), a 30 second hope spot (Vegeta's attack making Cell stagger/distracted), and final 30 second victory (Cells death)
I've personally labeled it as the best 10 minutes in Dragonball Z history. Part of that is because its the last time the supporting cast that wasn't Saiyan were important. Even if they weren't ultimately effective, the fact they all got to team up against Cell was a powerful moment. It was, for its time, pretty edge of your seat stuff. Having it wait 9 minutes in before the Hope spot just made the hope spot itself that much more powerful, same with finally witnessing Cells defeat.
My main issue with the Cell Saga is that Vegeta was a fucking idiot the entire damn saga. The guy is shown that, when he puts his ego aside, his intelligence and tactical side comes through. Buu Saga had Vegeta showing decent amounts of intelligence and what qualifies for tactics in DBZ, mainly during the Kid Buu phase when he finally ends his little fued with Goku.
In Cell Saga, the best damn saga of the show, he was full on ego, all the time, and did the dumbest shit possible, pretty much creating about 40 percent of the issues they had to deal with.
Namek Saga though, where he walked in knowing he was outclassed and outmatched by a vast majority of his opponents, and was therefore was humbled and realistic about his ablilites? Holy fuck, the guy was a goddamn genius in that arc!
Even when his moves backfired (having Zarbon transform), he kept his cool and played it completely to his advantage. Hell, Goku hadn't arrived yet, the Nameks were mostly killed, and Gohan/Krillen were barely seen by Frieza until his actual fight, meaning Frieza called in the damn Ginyu Force solely to take down Vegeta!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk2Ici4gG1QI'm such a nerd I actually searched it up to confirm. I think I have a new favourite voice actor.
