Hmmm thats odd, I thought the very purpose of fan service was indeed to....well, cater for the hot blooded male viewers. What other purpose can it serve? none, having alot with a good story is acceptable actually. Fairy-Tail seems to know the idea about using Fanservice ( for the record I dont like FT but most people do). Hmmm fanservice.....has a weird touch to it....fanservice....fanserivce....lol. Serving the fans with erotic scenes....

Also, Ikki Tousen is just... awful. The damage a character has taken is based on how clothed they are at the end of the fight. Basically the character's strength is determined by how much of their opponent's clothes can they destroy in one punch. As for a plot, it barely has one.

And V, THAT kind of transformation scene is obviously fanservice. It's fanservice for the sake of fanservice. So... what good does that do anyone? "MY BOOBS! LOOK AT THEM AS I TRANSFORM! IT'S RELEVANT TO THE PLOT! SOMEHOW!"

Im a huge fan of Fairy Tail, I dont mind the fan service but, Im a huge fan of mages like (Black/White Mage- Final Fantasy, magicians in MMO or whatever I see), but I also like the artwork a lot like its super clean and smooth to me, I didnt realized the heavy fanservice until someone pointed it out hah. But really, I like Fairy Tail for their mages theme and the type of powers, helping me with the ideas of my own story and such.

Fanservice is great. How else would girls know which anime to skip?

Hmmmm well for Kill la Kill, its not over yet so there might be a purpose of why its so skimpy XP, I mean it have powerful transformation uniforms so there gotta be a reason for it. Heck it have fanservice for girls too.

Anyway, I guess it just depends the setting and the type of anime it is to enjoy the fanservice or not.

Fairy Tail is a fairly decent anime, but has more fanservice than it needs. It suffers from the problem that it feels it needs to have it at this point because it's been running so long, it needs to fill in those empty points in the story with... boobs. At one point, they decided to have Lucy lose her clothes in a match, only to have her put something else on that was far more revealing. Why? Because... why not? It didn't do anything to change the fight by any means. It just happened to happen. Fairy Tail does this A LOT.
