We Own the Night (Train)

Mercy had contemplated a lot of things in the last few days. After arriving back in Tokyo from a trip down to Kyoto, Mercy was still as busy as ever. Aside from working out more details with the upcoming Tension PPV, Mercy was asked to help work out a promotion for Friction. With winter beginning to break, AFW wanted to do a few on-site promotions in various parts of Japan. An often overlooked portion of Japan, the large northern island of Hokkaido.

Rally had let her pick out the person she had thought would be best for this little trip to the north and when she was looking through the books, she considered one particular name long and heavy. She had just come off a recent spectacular Avalanche match and a great win against a Tension guy in what was retroactively billed as a Tension Vs. Friction preview match.

Not only that but it was someone she had also considered a friend. Though the two hadn't really spoken in a while, Mercy knew that she had a lot of things to say to her. After checking schedules and figuring out appointments, she put her finger to her phone and dialed Heather Sunderland.

She had caught the girl when she was in Kyoto. At least, she had SAID she caught her. Really, she knew the girl's schedule quite well and told her that there would be some photo ops being made ready for her up in Sapparo, the capital of the Hokkaido Prefecture. Mercy made the plans so that she would go to Kyoto and take care of some business. Then she would pick Heather up and travel with her up to Sapparo where she would take care of any of the event stuff while they were there.

She thought it would be great logistically as well as give the two some time to catch up. Mercy had had a lot of things on her mind and she wouldn't be satisfied moving forward until she had gotten SOME answers. She just hoped she could. In her mind, this trip was definitely a little bit of an excuse to take care of some personal business but she was pretty sure that nothing could possibly go wrong.

She had given Heather instructions and made her way to the train. It was well into the night and they would have a long ride ahead of them. Thankfully, working for a giant corporation like the AFW had its perks. They were able to ride together in a double luxury suite that amounted to basically a hotel room on wheels. It was fabulous and a whole host better than the trains she usually took. She wondered if it was just because of Heather or if she could possibly get accommodations like this in the future.

Right now sleeping was the last thing on her mind. Really, that wasn't even a thought on her mind in the least as her foot tapped tot he beat.

Heather was coming off quite the long day herself as she was in the Kyoto area. She got word that her brother Dante and her friend Alessa were scheduled to represent Tension in the upcoming PPV, something that was quite a big deal. She just happened to be scheduled for a tension event, able to be in the area to visit them in that time as well. It was then that she got that phone call from Mercy.

She was more than happy to hear from her friend after quite some time. They weren't what some people would consider best of friends, but Mercy was already considered a close friend to Heather, different from the friends that she's made from the active AFW roster. Last time she hung out with Mercy, parts of the meeting were a bit awkward but other than that Heather had quite the fun time with the girl, the feeling alot different than how her time with her other wrestler friends was.

The girl seemed to bait her in with that photo op, something that gave Heather quite the grin on her face. Heather was big in AFW, but she never had too many chances to do things like that with her schedule. It was quite nice to know that she would be getting quite the good day today, having that on top of seeing her friend.

Taking Mercy's instructions, Heather headed straight over to the train as soon as she possibly could. She said her goodbyes to the Tension tag champions as she took off, heading quite excitedly to meet Mercy.

When she arrived she took in a good breather of the nice night air before quickly racing to the train, wasting no time in seeing her friend. She made her way there, spotting the girl who was settled in, listening to her music as always. The sight put quite the warm smile on Heather's face, Heather quickly going over to her.

"Mercy!" Heather let out, quickly going over to give the girl a nice, big hug, hoping she would take her greeting well.

Mercy was about to pull out a lap top and maybe get some work done when she saw Heather appear. She set it aside and stood up to greet her, only to get a big hug from her friend. She felt the tightness of the hug, the closeness and her arms wrapped around Heather's and she returned it with a light hug of her own. She was surprised by the girl's affection but welcomed it and smiled as they embraced.

"Heather. It's good to see you again." she said softly before releasing the hug and sliding back to her seat. "I hope you don't mind sharing a room with me for the evening. The train ride is kind of long." She then laughed and looked around. They were in the highest class accommodations which had their own bathroom and two beds along with a few places to sit. Mercy's luggage was already on one of the beds.

"But, this really IS like a suite. It must be nice to be a super star. No one sticks you, in coach." She winked at Heather. "Glad you could let me ride on your coat tails at least on the way up to Hokkaido." She teased.

Feeling Mercy hug her back, Heather's smile grew wider. It was just something about Mercy that felt like a friend that she never got to have and even though they haven't done much together, Heather held their friendship quite dearly to her. She hoped for a good eventful train ride with her, thinking she would be able to do alot of nice 'catchup'.

"It's good to see you too! Glad you made it through those meetings nice and safe." Heather let out, remembering all the trouble Mercy was having when they first met. She would throw her stuff on the other bed before sitting next to Mercy, lounging back as she did and letting out a long sigh. "Mind? I'm surprised you couldn't tell on the phone how excited I was for this."

"Haah weell you know. They spare no expenses when it comes to the fastest and all around best wrestler in AFW." Heather let out a little jokingly as she turned to Mercy. "I can let you live the lift for just one day." She continued, laughing a little before she let out another sigh.

"Really, honestly though. This IS nice. With a place like this, and sharing it with a friend like you, couldn't care less about how long it'll take. How's everything been with being Ms. Representing Aurelia Fortuna, the Chief of Talent Relations " Heather let out, teasing Mercy right back.

Mercy let out a soft chuckle at Heather's words. She HAD heard but it still seemed like something she could joke about. She didn't mind and Heather brought in a good and friendly atmosphere. Her cheeks reddened at the thought of ever having been so nervous around the girl. She already felt quite at ease.

Mercy raised an eyebrow at Heather's next words. She certainly was confident, but she really had every reason to be. The crowd seemed to lover her at least and Mercy could say she did as well, for various reasons. Her cheeks reddened a bit at the thought. She wasn't quite ready to get onto that subject quite yet.

"Hehe, well, I HAVE been lucky enough to be afforded the finer things in life before, thanks to my old bosses. Margaret and Lukretia were the kinds of people that rode in style and made sure everything they brought with them did too. "I probably could with Rally too, but" Mercy shrugged. 'The bullet train is faster so I don't mind. But, yeah... actually she's one of the best bosses I have had. Though." Mercy let out a deep sigh. "This pay-per-view has had me running all over the darn place! I think I've been back and forth between Tokyo and Kyoto more times in the last month than I have the rest of the time here combined!" She let out a soft chuckle. "This almost feels like a vacation! Heh, knowing Rally, maybe it was?" She chuckled again. Rally probably DID see the stress in Mercy's features as of late and gave her this assignment specifically to help ease some of the 'tension' that was knotting her up.

She leaned back in her chair, relaxing int he comfort and looking at Heather. "How about you? How's things been since... ah... Avalanche?" She said the last bit sheepishly. She sort of KNEW how things had been, but then again, maybe Heather was still sore over it.

Heather would nod her head as Mercy began to respond to her, listening to all that she spoke of. She kept an open mind to all she was saying, taking in the words of her friend that she hasn't seen in quite some time. She kept nodding at her words about her bosses before showing a little look of concern on her face as Mercy talked about how busy she's been because of the pay-per-view. Heather wouldn't want to be put in her shoes, and this was the first PPV since she's been in AFW that she had a break from, be that good or bad, it was a little bit of a relief for Heather not to have to go through another grueling match so soon after the hell that she went through in her match at Avalanche. "Weeell I'm glad to be here to help you relax a bit then." Heather let out with a shrug before she heard Mercy's question.

"Hah...since Avalanche huh.." Heather could just remember how sore she was for how long after that match, coming out with absolutely nothing to show for it after. She bit her lip a bit, It almost making her a little sad thinking about it, but she shook it off, putting a smile on her face. "I-I've been good. People loved that match...minus the result of course..since then I dunno..just been going my own way I guess! Taking what comes, trying to get right back to that place I fell off of." Heather let out, a little nod to the end of her Avalanche match as she did, shrugging her shoulders.

Mercy smiled weakly at Heather's words. The train had started to roll down the tracks and finally they would be off. One of the attendants came in to ask about getting them drinks. Mercy asked for a coffee and cream for now and the woman left once Heather had ordered, if she did.

Once she left, Mercy looked at Heather and gave her a soft pat on the leg. She figured now was as good a time as any to talk about what was on her mind. "You'll do it." She said with encouragement. "I mean... look at your last match?" She said. "I watched it, you know, the one with Clyde Gastin?" Of course she knew. Mercy's cheeks flushed lightly. Why did she say his full name anyway? She turned her head just to break eye contact. "I didn't know the two of you were a thing." She said suddenly, as though it had something to do with the match.

Heather felt the train start to take off, causing her to relax a little more before the attendant would come on asking for drinks. Heather ordered a diet soda after Mercy had her order. She t urned to Mercy and smiled at her again.

"Ah heh thanks." Heather nodded her head and her smile grew at Mercy's words of encouragement as she patted her leg. At her next words though, a blush developed on her face. She nodded her head before she said what she did. "A-aah..I didn't think all what we said would be picked up on TV.." She let out, blushing a little deeper as she sighed. "Y-yeaaah..we were for quite a while..I met him pretty shortly after coming into AFW and...we were together for quite some time...engaged even..but uhh...we just had differences a-and..Aah heh I-I'm sure you don't want to hear all this, talking about some guy I-I didn't mean to ramble on." Heather let out, laughing it off as she shook her head. "I um...Got a little carried away in that match" She continued with a nervous laugh.

Mercy listened to Heather's words. It wasn't really that things had been picked up on tv, it was just... "Clyde's pretty loud..." She added dryly. He was. But, still, she had done her homework too. "Well.. actually...' She said when Heather finished. "I don't mind a little gossip." She said with a smile. She turned her head a little, looking down at Heather's legs, just to keep herself turned and facing the girl but still avoiding eye contact.

"And yeah... you didn't really hold back on the poor guy, did you? The falling out must have been..." She paused and bit her lips for a moment. "bad?" She said, leaving it as a question. "ahhh..." She blushed and looked at Heather with her red face. "It was... pretty hot..." She admitted.

"Haaah..yeaah he really is." Heather let out, shrugging, not really knowing the fact that Mercy knew Clyde quite well it seemed. "...Really..Weeell alright then." Heather let out, making herself comfortable a bit. If they were gonna talk freely, then Heather was going to relax as much as she could.

"Haah..Well I don't know I..sort of felt bad. I mean..I dunno." Heather let out, shaking her head before she heard Mercy's next words, causing Heather to grin wide. "Oh? Mercy I didn't know you were into that...Aah I see..I get what this train ride was all about. The beds, the length of time, no one else here..You wanted to experience it yourself didn't you? Just had to come out and say it." Heather let out, clearly teasing Mercy and not meaning what she was saying, leaning into her a bit just to mess with her.
