Ooo Cassie-deaaar...

Angel just stared right back at Mamouru as he breathed his threats down to her. Who cares? It didn't matter whether she was nice or mean, people were bound to try and hurt her. She understood that it was a risk of her profession, and learned just as well as anyone that it didn't really matter who she pissed off. Anyone could do anything, so it was pointless to be nice about things. Cassie was the final straw that made Angel what she was now. As much as she enjoyed Mamouru's rhetorical outbreak, it was a shame that Cassie hadn't seen any of it. Or so she thought.

Cassie's words startled her. As much as she wasn't afraid of threats, the girl had just choked her out. And the sheer shock of her being behind her made Angel jump. Immediately after she shook her head, slightly embarrassed. But the realization that she had heard Mamouru's words made her smile. Angel took a step back and looked at Cassie from an uncomfortable close distance. A lot had been said that day, and there was far more left to be said. But standing between both Cassie and Mamouru made her nervous.

"Alright," she answered straightforward to Cassie's request. "I wouldn't want to make you angry," she added. There wasn't much sarcasm in her tone. "See ya later," she then added with a smirk and a now clear rhetorical tone. Angel then adjusted her backpack and started for the door.

Mamouru's face blanched when he saw Cassie appear. As much as he wanted to hide it, he couldn't. He was mostly sure that Cassie had heard at least part of what he had said. All things considered it was probably the last part. But, he HAD been talking to Dark Angel and he had just finished saying that Cassie was smart. She could definitely put two and two together, couldn't she?

He definitely wasn't going to stop Dark Angel, however. It seemed that maybe, she had gotten to him as well and he cursed himself silently at the thought. He was going to make that bitch pay somehow, someway.

He watched her walk away, staring daggers at her until she was out of sight. He then turned to Cassie and with his face still white, he just stared at her. His eyes wide like a deer in headlights. After a moment, he tried to speak.

"C-C-Cassie-san..." He stuttered out. "I... Please forgive me!" He said, bowing his head deeply as his cheeks reddened into a crimson hue. He wasn't sure if he was apologizing for what he said, letting Angel get to him, or both. He could only hope that Cassie now understood that HE knew how SHE had felt a few minutes earlier after running out of the arena.

"For what?" Cassie said, her expression as blank as she could manage. She was really uncomfortable, though. "Ready to go?"

She didn't even want to ask him about what Dark Angel said. She didn't want to hear another word from that girl, second hand or not, and she honestly didn't want to hear too much more from Mamouru, either. She just wanted to go home and be by herself. She wasn't even sure if she had it in her to call home when she got there.

She pushed through the front doors and slung her backpack over one shoulder. She didn't say much during the walk home.

Mamouru let out a sigh. She was trying to play it off but he believed she was privy to at least part of what he said. He just hoped she didn't believe it. She already knew he wasn't a very nice person, but she was also one of the few who believed that there was SOME good in him. If that little glimpse hope hope was extinguished from Cassie as well? He wasn't even sure what he could say or anymore.

He didn't want to hurt her but he was definitely attracted to her. He would not pass a lie detector test if they asked him if he wanted her physically. He certainly did. But he was by no means pursuing things with her and his tone, as sick and depraved as it was, wasn't meant to be a confession, but a way to take away the power that Dark Angel was trying to wield against them.

"I was hoping she would have left before you arrived again. She's nothing but a menace."

He said the words simply and continued to contemplate things on the way to Cassie's home. Had his words worked? Had he taken away power? Or had he inadvertently created a larger rift between himself and Cassie than Dark Angel could ever accomplish on his own?

If he was certain about one thing, it was that if anything had managed to come between himself and Cassie, as they had stood before Dark Angel's arrival, then that masked woman would learn what it was like to have someone come after them and she would learn in a big way. Mamouru WASN'T as nice as the others and he could only pray Cassie would be able to extinguish this woman before his natural instincts took over and he had to take action himself.
