Kyo Akamatsu vs Mindy Priest

"Battery" by Metallica began to play as Kyo Akamatsu, the nicknamed "Samurai of AFW," entered the arena, greeted by a chorus of cheers from his fans. Kyo's response was the usual smile and stoic nod to the audience as he walked down the ramp, never once breaking from his serious, professional demeanour. This was Kyo's trademark, the personality trait he was known for: quiet, serious and disciplined both in and out of the ring, treating his opponents and the match with the seriousness and respect that they had deserved. This had given Kyo a reputation as one of the true "faces" on the male half of the Tension roster, though it also meant that he would never have even half as many fans as the bad boys such as Clyde Gastin or Damien Miller. Kyo didn't care about that fact one way or the other: he was here to fight, not collect a fan club.

Wearing his usual knee-length black tights, along with matching pads and boots, Kyo made his way to the ring and slid under the ropes before hopping to his feet. His body had only recently overcome its lingering soreness from the brutal tag battle against the Northman siblings, and his clash against Cecilia Northman had been a painful lesson. I still have a lot of improving to do, he thought to himself. I'm not yet ready to take on the best of the best. The aftermath of the match had left him all the more proud of his younger sister Makie, as she had been the one to win the match for them, but at the same time, it had also left him more determined than ever to improve and better himself. If we was going to challenge the top fighters in AFW...and maybe make a bid for the Tension title belt one day...then he needed to get better.

He rotated his shoulders as he watched the opposite ramp for his opponent, arcing his neck slightly to clear out some lingering stiffness. This was the part of the match that always held the most anticipation, the part where he wondered who Miss Sellers had matched him up against this time...

Mindy was very shy around boys. There was no way to deny it. Tall, shapely and muscular as she was, she was prone to attracting other people's attention, and the opposite sex was no exception. She was used to it inside the gym, where everyone showed off their bodies; it was just the way things were. However, some of the stares persisted even outside, and the way she was often looked at didn't make her very comfortable. Because of that, she normally kept a friendly but safe distance from men.

This was the reason why Mindy had turned down mixed matches when she first got into the AFW. Wrestling a man, holding her own body in close contact with theirs, maybe even being pinned down by them with no strength left to fight back... just the thought of it was enough to make the muscle girl blush. But recently, after her first win, her confidence had reached an all-time high, and she was seeing things in a different light. She had just fought a match in front of a huge audience, with her body exposed to who knows how many men, and she hadn't felt even the tiniest embarrassment while doing it. If anything, they made her happy with their cheers when she finally triumphed. She had never felt so strong.

Maybe she could take an extra challenge. She was a strong girl! "If I can fight in front of hundreds of men, surely I can wrestle one of them!," she said to herself as she waited in the backstage, waiting for the music to start. She had come to the AFW to prove herself; she wasn't going to shy away from fights anymore, even if they were against the opposite sex.

Mindy took one deep breath and made her way into the main stage, stepping onto the ramp in her usual attire of a white sports bra, tight black gym shorts and fingerless gloves. She was met with the crowd's cheers, and she smiled and put her fist into the air, greeting them back. The muscular girl then made her way down the ramp and pulled herself up by the bottom rope into the ring, just seconds away from her first ever mixed wrestling match. She took a tentative glance at the wrestler in the opposite corner. "Hi! I'm Mindy," she said, trying to sound confident.

Despite himself, Kyo found himself raising an eyebrow once his opponent slid into the ring. She was tall-- easily his height, from his estimation-- and had the body to match. Her skin was tanned to a darker shade than his, and although her body was as slender and feminine as a model's, Kyo could see the strength it contained as well. Her arms rippled with well developed muscles, her abdomen was visibly firm and taut, and her thighs looked thick and powerful. She was strong, of that Kyo had no doubt, and in terms of raw strength was probably a match for him, if not better. She was also, he had to admit, very easy on the eyes...

He suddenly realized he was staring at the girl, and looked away sharply, blushing a little as he inwardly cursed his impoliteness. Great job, Kyo, make her think you're a pervert just before the two of you do battle. Clearing his throat, he looked back at her, just as she introduced herself as Mindy.

Giving her a warm smile, he stepped towards her and extended a hand. At least, he thought, she was being friendly, so at least he wasn't dealing with a heel. "Kyo," he replied. "Kyo Akamatsu, pleased to meet you." He thought he'd heard a trace of tentativeness in her voice earlier. A rookie? he wondered. Mindy certainly didnt exhibit the outward confidence of a ring veteran.

Even if she's a rookie, don't go easy on her, he reminded himself, you can see that she's got the brawn to make up for any lack of experience. A small part of him wondered why it was that was matched up against so many strong women-- Haruka, Rebecca, and most recently Cecilia Northman. Not that he minded-- he was always up for a challenge.

Mindy noticed the man was staring at her; as usual, it made her a bit nervous, but she told herself it was alright. It was common to inspect your opponent before a match... right? Swallowing her shyness, she took that as a license to have a better look at him, who was now looking away for some reason. Trying not to mind the fact that he wore nothing but tights and boots, she looked at his build. She recognized a well-developed body when she saw one; he was no weightlifter, but nevertheless his muscles were lean and toned, and the way he moved made clear to Mindy that he was used to this.

When he then stepped towards her and introduced himself, Mindy walked closer as well, taking his hand and shaking it. "Let's have a good match!" Kyo had a firm, confident grip, so she didn't loosen up either. After that, she would back away a few feet, doing some stretches while she waited for the bell to ring.

Kyo gave Mindy a firm handshake, feeling the strong grip she gave him. If she was still nervous at all, Kyo noted, then she was now doing a better job of putting on a brave face. She also seemed to be looking him over thoroughly, just as he had done earlier.

"Yes, let's," Kyo agreed as Mindy released her grip and took a step back. He did the same, and found himself resisting the urge to stare too much as Mindy did some stretches, showing off her fit, slender body. In many ways, her fit body, bronzed skin and short, blonde hair reminded him a lot of Haruka Tenou...except without Haruka's ever-present confidence. He tried to put Haruka out of his mind-- he couldn't afford to let himself get distracted with memory.

I'm not going to win this battle by trying to match her in strength, he thought to himself as he used the nearby ropes to rotate his body back and forth in a quick exercise. I'll need to rely on quick strikes to keep her stunned and holds and locks to wear down her arms and legs. Defeat her by systematically taking her down and making it harder for her to fight back.

Backing into the corner, Kyo let the ref girl quickly check him over for weapons. As she backed away, the bell rang. Keeping his eyes fixed on Mindy, he rushed out of his corner and began to circle the muscle girl, raising his arms for a lockup.

The match finally started, so Mindy advanced and got into a wrestling stance, wary of Kyo's quick movements. As the two circled each other, she saw him offering a lockup, which made her smile internally. Her physical strength was the thing she was most proud of, and a grappling contest was the best way to use it so early in the match. She approached him cautiously, looking out for any sudden movements, and would lock her arms with his.

As soon as her grip was secure, Mindy would push Kyo back for a few seconds, wanting to test out his strength against hers; however, the pushing wouldn't last for long, as she would then twist her body to the side and drag Kyo with her, aiming to unbalance him and toss him to the mat!

The two of them locked up in the centre of the ring, push and twisting against one another as the grappled for supremacy. Kyo clenched his teeth as his chin rested against Mindy's shoulder, his boots digging against the mat. This close, he could feel just how strong Mindy was, felt the muscles constricting in her arms, and was forced poured everything he had into opposing her. For a brief moment, the two of them were stalemated in the centre of the ring.

Kyo's plan had not been to engage Mindy in a test of strength, though, but to transition quickly into a side headlock. He was quick to discover, though, that Mindy didn't simply want to overpower him either: to his surprise, Mindy suddenly twisted, throwing him in a simple hip toss! He landed on his butt, and did his best to ignore the pain that shot up his tailbone as he instinctively rolled out of Mindy's reach to get back to his feet. He had made a mistake in assuming Mindy would just keep grappling him. I shouldn't undersetimate her, he thought to himself.

Even with Mindy locked up with Kyo and pushing him back, he did not budge from the center of the ring; it seemed that his toned muscles weren't just for show. Mindy didn't have to use all her strength to keep him in place, so she felt that maybe she could overpower him if she pushed harder; however, she would have to try that later, as she had other plans in mind for Kyo right now.

With a smirk, Mindy flipped Kyo to the mat in a hip toss. She actually wanted to mount him once he was down, but he was too quick on the uptake and was already away and getting up by the time she turned towards him. Oh, well. Since her opponent didn't show any signs of being hurt, she decided to stay on the defensive. As Kyo got to his feet, Mindy circled him so that he would be standing between the turnbuckle and herself. Cornered like that, she hoped, Kyo wouldn't have the space to pull off anything fancy. She waited in her stance, looking at Kyo.

The moment Kyo rolled away, he sprung up into a crouch, ready for any follow up attack from Mindy. None came: his opponent was being cautious, eying him warily as she circled him. He realized at that point that he was now between Mindy and the turnbuckle-- between a rock and a hard place, essentially. But he knew how to turn things around in a situation like this.

Getting back to his feet, he quickly rushed forwards, arms raised to lock up aggressively with Mindy. This was just a feint, however: at the last second, he would shoot a knee up, hard, into the Mindy's toned midsection to stun her. If the girl doubled over, then he would follow up by grabbing the back of her head and pressing both knees against her stomach, before falling back to flip her head over heels, and send her either crashing onto her back in front of the turnbuckle, or slamming into it.

With her cautiousness and her positioning, Mindy was pretty sure that she would be able to see Kyo's next attack coming and counter it. She waited for him to get on his feet, fully expecting him to rush her - and he did. Everything was going according to plan. Now she would grapple him, stop him dead on his tracks then push him back towards the turnbuckle...

But reality turned out to be lot more painful than the pretty picture Mindy had on her mind. At the last second, Kyo's knee buried itself into her abs, knocking the air out of her lungs and forcing her to double over in shock. Kyo's following movements were just too fast for her to follow in her stunned state; all she knew that, half a second later, the world was upside-down and she was flying in midair, with her head in Kyo's grip. She let out a soundless scream as the small of her back was slammed against the turnbuckle before slumping, with her back flat on the mat and one of her legs caught over the middle ropes. Wincing, she tried to prop herself up, but until she regained her breath her recovery wouldn't be very fast.
