Rain's sweep was successful! Though Maria immediately rolled away before she had a chance to do any more damage. Guess it wouldn't be that easy, which was fine, Rain didn't want an easy opponent despite her two loses. With the feeling in Rain's shoulder and neck coming back, she got back up, getting back into her stance. She'd have to be especially careful around Maria now. Someone that struck pressure points was not fun to fight, so she'd have to end this quickly. "Heh, you're pretty good Maria."

Maria slipped back into her stance as well, smiling and bowing as she pulled herself up. She winced slightly- the fall had hurt a little, and not been what she was expecting, but she was definitely not about to give up based on something as simple as that. She straightened up then nodded in response to the compliment.
"Ah... as are you Miss Rain... perhaps after this fight we can compare notes- It would be nice to have a sparring partner who can keep up with me!"
Maria continued to smile for a moment, then put her weight forward

"Alright, prepare yourself, cause here I come again!"
Maria gave Rain a warning, and a few seconds, before coming in for another series of attacks. She attempted to catch her opponent in the stomach with a quick strike, the heel of her palm coming forward, and then followed up with a roundhouse kick towards her opponent's side. Her red hair flowed behind her like flame, moving in her wake and matching her ruby eyes

Rain's sweep did a bit of damage to Maria, making her smile a little. This girl was going to be a good opponent, but getting around those pressure point strikes would be tricky. Hopefully that wouldn't be her only means for attack. "Yeah, I'd love to spar with you sometime Maria, but I'm not losing to you!" She said, giving a challenging smirk to her opponent. Hearing Maria's warning, Rai braced herself for whatever attack that she'd dish out. She smacked away Maria's palm with her own, then block the incoming roundhouse with her arm, pushing it aside to throw her off balance. "My turn now," She then sidestepped to the right, aiming a palm strike to the side of Maria's face, hoping to knock her off balance.

"I was about to say the same thing Miss Rain!"
Maria was agile as a cat, though, and she never wasted her energy or movement. When her opponent pushed her leg away to deflect the kick, Maria let the momentum take her and spun around, bringing her other side to bear against her opponent. This time it was her arm that came up, the back of her hand rolling up through the air and meeting Rain's wrist. She turned it aside so the attack missed her- but only just. She even felt the blow stir her red hair as it passed. Rain was strong and fast, and Maria knew her opponent was the kind who could give her quite the challenge... and Maria was determined to be the same for Rain.

So Maria turned her wrist as she shifted her weight, attempting for one aim- she was trying to grab Rain's wrist and pull her up and over, using the other girl's weight to throw her overhand and launch her through the air.

Rain grimanced slightly as her palm strike was once again countered. Hitting Maria would take a lot of effort, it had been awhile since she had fought another martial artist, and with the training she was getting from Alice, she kind of forgot the atmosphere. Calm down Rain, just focus and try to hit her. She thought, taking a deep breath as her strike was pushed aside like it was nothing. It felt like she was being shown up a little by Maria. Rain would have definitely have to spar with her to learn her training methods.

The moment Rain felt Maria's wrist turned she was one the offensive. She wasn't going to let her get in another hit again. Rain allow her hand to pushed and got it out of Maria's grabbing range. Then, with her free hand, she aimed a strike to the side of her opponent's face with the heel of her wrist.

Crack!
the strike caught Maria square on- she simply wasn't in any position to counter attack or to defend, and had been wide open for Rain's attack. Her head snapped back and she staggered back a single step, one eye closed from the force of the blow.
gotta keep calm... if I don't, I won't have a chance of winning!
Maria winced as she shook her head once, attempting to clear her head after the blow. She was dazed, but only for a moment, and she immediately brought both arms up in front of her, ready to defend herself again. She regained her stance a step away from Rain, her eyes focused, and she shook her head a second time. Now cleared, she was ready to continue- and she held back, into her stance, waiting for her next opening.

Maria's breathing was calm and steady, her gaze on Rain and unflinching. She was completely focused on the fight, shutting out distractions from the crowd and the the like. For her, right now, all that existed was her opponent and the ring.

Rain smiled slightly as her hit had landed. The first clean hit she got on Maria if she was correct. It looked like it did a good amount of damage too.

This match will probably be quick. Rain thought. It wasn't her first time thinking this either. From the way their fighting styles went, if either made a major mistake in their movements and left themselves open, it'd be game over. That was how it worked in most of the spars she had, one hit usually led to many more until you were knocked out. Her fighting style went that way, and Maria's probably did too. Just stay calm and don't hold back. She thought, steeling herself for what else was to come. She had expected Maria to counter, but instead she just got back into stance, looking much more focused than before. Her eyes were dead serious, Rain could see that. The blonde obliged her opponent and got back into stance as well. It was crunch time now. The first to slip up would probably lose or suffer a lot of painful hits.

Rain matched her opponent's intense eyes, nearly looking as if she was glaring at Maria. She wasn't going to let her win, she refused to. No words came from her mouth anymore, none were needed. She examined Maria carefully, circling around her to look for an opening. She wanted to be the first to strike, but she had to make sure she didn't leave herself open to a counter. She needed a strike that would cause heavy damage and she could still defend herself. For now, she'd be careful and watch Maria's movements.

Maria was well aware that her opponent had dropped into the same focused state she had. She let a small smile slip through, the tiniest one at the corner of her mouth. Most people would see the intense gaze that Rain was shooting her as an angry glare, but Maria knew that it was just focus on the situation at hand. In fact, despite all evidence to the contrary, Maria was enjoying the match so far- she hadn't met another martial artist in combat in a long time, and she had almost forgotten the thrill. But she had more than a few moves still up her sleeves, and she intended to start using them.

Maria was the first to make a move this time, however it wasn't to come right at the other girl. In fact, she moved to the side, just out of her opponent's reach, to the rope. She stepped up onto the lowest one and let the rope itself give way, feeling the tension grow- before suddenly pushing off with her free foot. She pushed up, going into the air and turning, her foot whipping around in a single motion, a high kick coming for her opponent's head. Maria kept her hands free and ready though, just in case as her red hair flowed around her
"hya!"

Rain felt a surge of excitement as she circled around Maria. The whole situation was so intense and serious. Both fighters of similar skill fighting to prove their worth and mettle. It's just like an old martial arts film! Rain thought excitedly. Well... except it was a match, but the feelings were still there. She never thought she'd be fighting someone like this before, it felt awesome. Rain could see the tiniest of smiles along Maria's face, showing how excited she was too. Though despite her adrenaline, Rain's body remained composed, still looking for an opponent.

It seemed that Maria was able to make the first move, surprising Rain by actually moving back. What is she planning? The blonde thought, watching her opponent move to the ropes, then taking off to the air. An aerial strike? Rain wasn't expecting that, but she wasn't distracted by it either. Selena and Songbird had used similar moves before and she had a counter in mind this time. Giving a smirk, Rain spin her body around, giving a little elegance as she dodged the kick. She then swung her leg to aim a high spin kick to Maria's back as she came down. "Haa!"

Maria dropped the moment her foot hit the ground, knowing that as soon as she missed her opponent would probably come around for a counter attack. As Rain's kick passed just over her head, catching a bit of her hair as it did so, maria inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. That had been far too close, and if it had connected she could have been seriously injured. Still, at this point, staying in motion was the name of the game. Maria was determined to win that particular game as well-
using her momentum from the kick, Maria continued on the ball of her foot, her other leg extending outward as she attempted to sweep Rain's ankle, hoping to catch the girl as off guard as she had caught Maria earlier. After all, balancing on two feet was one thing, but on one, and after a spin like that? She might actually have a serious chance of catching her opponent
