I heard Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang of Smallville) is starring in a Chun Li Street Fighter movie coming out next month. Michael Clarke Duncan will play Balrog. Chun Li also has her own comic series coming out this month just like Sakura did months ago.

*Shudders at the thought of another Street Fighter movie* I hope they do better on this one then the last. I will see it anyway! haha

Personally, I loved the way Raul Julia portrayed M. Bison in the 1994 live action film. He seemed to have had a lot of fun with the character, cancer and all. And the spin-off cartoon's Bison had some good lines, too. They should have just sold it as an original comedy movie, instead of a Street Fighter movie.
Now, the Dead Or Alive movie was a train wreck, at least for me. The Street Fighter movie attempted to properly portray some of the moves from the game. But the DOA movie? Everyone was high-flying, no exceptions. Even Bass was high-flying- and he's Kevin Nash " title="Smile" />)

Re: Chun Li fans
I also didn't hate the Van Damme Street Fighter. I found it kind of fun. And I happened to really like Dead or Alive the movie. I actually don't like the game series and always thought it was a watered down Tekken.
Maybe because I didn't like the game, I therefore liked the movie better even though some of the characters might have been done wrong. To me Dead or Alive was just as good as Charlie's Angels 1 and Kill Bill 1 (without having to be gruesome).

Re: Chun Li fans
when I first watched Street fighter, I was but a child and anything could impress me as long as it had an explosion and people flying around on wires (seriously, even Mario Bros film was good back then)... But then something happened, most likely as a result of one truly bad film I watched and then erased from my memory, now I've become quite cynical when it comes to films and everything that's been coming out lately hasn't helped my opinion.
Looking back at the previous street fighter film, I choose to condemn it contray to what I thought at the time... The main reason being that when you make a beat em up into a film, you need to make the film about a worthwhile tournament... Although my memory is warped, I can't remember there even being a tournament which leads me to believe that if there was one it wasn't worth it's time in the film. But don't get me wrong, I also disliked the way they turned Dhalism into a peace loving scientist that doesn't want to crush the petals on a rose, the way they made Blanka a euthanasia case, the way Ryu and Ken (the debatable main characters) took a back seat to Guile, the way they choose non martial artists actors for martial artists characters... And so on (Warned you that I'm cynical).
I never even considered watching the film DOA, particularly after seeing an ad... For me, films from games tend to have a bad track record. However I'm surprised Mortal Kombat hasn't been mentioned as I thought this was a lot better then Street Fighter (the first Mortal Kombat film that is). If DOA didn't attempt any moves but Street Fighter did, then Mortal Kombat took it one step further and put some special effects for the moves. They got points in my book for the tournament set up of which I can still recall specific match ups... Also the music always makes me want to fly kick someone while screaming "Finish him!!!"
That all being said I have looked at the trailer for the new street fighter... It doesn't look bad, but I remain skeptical cause only one of the last four films I paid to see at the cinema was good. I think its a good idea to set it on a specific character (Wolverine: origins style), but was a little concerned at seeing Balrog totting a rocket launcher... Some of the fight action does look pretty good and although it will always be impossible to find someone that looks exactly like people imagine a real life Chun Li to be, the girl they've found looks pretty hot and could pass as her too (And I've been told she is a good martial artist). I think this film will be better then the first street fighter, not bad... maybe good... but not great

I liked the original Street Fighter movie, but I'm easy to please. Yeah, it was pretty bad, but I consume and enjoy a LOT of really bad media. The humor was genuinely funny at times and it wasn't paced or planned out quite as horribly as... say... the second Mortal Kombat movie, which was terrible.
The Dead or Alive movie I also liked. It deserves special mention for having 6 or so hot chicks in a flying kung fu battle with one big bad guy, and making the big bad guy so stylish and cool that I was cheering for HIM. Of course, the wire kung fu stuff was a little irritating at times, but there was still enough decent cheese and scenery chewing to make it a fun B-movie.

Hearing from you guys, I wish I got to watch the first Mortal Kombat. I only saw MK2. And Konquest, the TV series prequel. -_-

Re: Chun Li fans
The only good thing about MK2 was seeing that blonde chick swho played Sonya running around in practically nothing. She had a fine body.

Lol. yea, but the fact of the matter is, both films focused on a couple of people. SF was focused on Guile when it should be everybody. Same thing with DoA. (I haven't seen DoA though. x.x thankfully.) I thought Randy Savage would be bass Armstrong. He was a high flyer. XD
