Sunshine and Chipmunks

"Awww..." Adrian said, sulking back down from her previous enthusiasm. So she would have to confront Taylor "Maybe later... got a lot of stuff to do. That's kinda why I'm training... cause there's someone really tough who I want to beat, not Taylor, but someone really strong. So that's why I started to get back to training... and I should probably get back to it."

"Oh, wow, that sounds like serious business." Cassie said. Her eyes widened curiously, and she wondered who this really tough person was. Did she know her? It sounded like Adrian was looking for a way out, though, and Cassie supposed that she needed time to think things over. She didn't want to bother her.

"Okay, well, I should get going too. I have grocery shopping to do! Lunch with my roommates is demanding. Training is like taking a break." Cassie smiled warmly, and looking at Adrian she couldn't help herself. She had to hug her again.

"I'm so glad I met you! You're such a nice person, and I just know that you'll do the right thing. I hope we meet again!" She stepped back and gave Adrian an enormous grin and a wave.

"Yeah... it's real serious. Flowchart serious." She said, it was a good excuse as any to get out of having to settle things here and now. It was true, she did have other things she needed to focus on but still, she couldn't help feel bad for disappointing Cassie, even as she smiled. And hugged her.

"Ah! Give warning before you do that." She mock protested as she hugged Cassie back slightly. She didn't regret meeting Cassie, even if the conversation was awkward at the best of times. "Right thing huh..." she thought out loud. Her training schedule had gone out the window again but now... at least it had gone a lot better than the last time she went to the gym.

"Yeah. Bye!" Cassie chirped and turned to leave. As she walked away from Adrian, her face fell. She felt discouraged. She felt like everything was wrong with the world and there was nothing she could do about it. She wondered if her friend would even want to see her again... Maybe the reason they hadn't run into each other yet is that Taylor was avoiding her. It sounded crazy, but... maybe it wasn't so crazy.

She took a deep breath. She would just do the shopping and go home so Sininen could cook lunch. She was learning to assist in the kitchen, it was fun. Maybe she could talk to her hyperactive Finnish roommates and maybe they could help her feel better. Maybe Ash would want to go out somewhere, if she was home, or more likely, if she was awake.

Cassie sighed. Maybe next time good things would happen. Maybe Adrian and Taylor would eventually realize that they weren't so different, and that there was so much to like about both of them. Maybe Cassie would learn not to pin her hopes on what other people did, but that wasn't likely. She pushed through the exit and started the walk to the grocery store.
