The Jerk, a 1979 film starring Steve Martin.
Awwww, I wanted to see you let loose....
Anyway, Soiuku, I have to agree with what Bluemouse said. Its like that whole "Why are all your characters boring/not unique while mine are all" thread that popped up a while back. You were asking a neutral question, not trying to accuse one way or another, but since you were attempting to be neutral and were basically distancing yourself from the question, it made you come off as a egotistic jerk. The neutral stance you took also explained why you appeared to legit have not a single clue why every single person that responded on that thread was offended by what you said. Since you were being neutral, you didnt think you could be criticised by what you said and didnt seem to think there was any problem with your statement in anyway.
To make it simple. Being neutral doesnt work, in the end, it just makes you look arrogant, above everyone, and stupid when it comes to not understanding criticism.
Next time, pick the side that has the most beer.
Beer is good.

Re: A Serious Revision~
To be a bit more blunt, there's nothing neutral about self centered. Your usage of the term neutrality is a meaningless buzz word that you're trying to use to justify why despite all the people saying that you're an egotistical jerk, you're really just too smart and committed to higher ideals that they don't understand. You're not clueless, you have just chosen to lodge your head far enough up your ass that you never have to actually look at yourself in the mirror.
I'll emphasize this: other people are the very best mirror. If everyone else in the world told me I was acting like a jerk, I wouldn't try to think up a reason that they're wrong. Being a jerk is defined by how other people feel about you. There's no objectivity to it. There's some room for misunderstanding, but even if you're well intentioned, if people say you're coming off as a jerk, that's on you and not them.
Being able to develop and maintain deep and satisfying interpersonal relationships is beyond crucial. The trick to managing it is that you have to be willing to set your own interests aside in favor of those of the people around you. Hope I wasn't too rough here, but I'm sure instead of taking offense you'll come back with more talk about being neutral and misunderstood and how you're just too smart for any of this to be true.

Re: A Serious Revision~
I am well meaning usually; but I try and balance what I say Blue~
If I admit to everything you say then its acceptance of being called a jerk, egotistical and esssentially using neutrality as a fake and non existant buffer zone so to speak; yet if I defend myself too much then I just rub off worse whereas doing and saying nothing leads people to question my stance on what you think about me. So really, I'm not sure about how to respond to that comment because there is no neutral ground or good outcome for all involved; how should I answer then?~
So. when do I directly, intentionally and openly bring my intelligence or others into direct question? I don't do that and I find that comment to not help me much other than saying I come off as being too superior sounding I really can't help how people read my posts and interpret the tone so honestly I'm lost as to how to do anything about that part~
I assume neutrality not because of intelligence or a mask to hide behind but because I want to avoid causing fights, not have to take sides and lose friends, and because I just want to get along~
And if the world says you're a loser, the world isn't right because they believe it, being a jerk was a personal discovery whereas IRL people I know say I'm one of the nicest people they've ever known, but that I talk too much and that even though I'm awkward and hard to understand at first I'm a dreamer at heart. But yes, if people say I'm ajerk it might very well be true; in fact I do consider myself to be a jerk, but its what you really are on the inside, not what people say you are, because not everyone knows you well enough to make a definite decision. This is the internet and its not easy for me to say what I want without coming out wrong or being offensive by accident~
What I'm trying to say is that my tone and feelings aren't easy for me to say without causing problems; if I took offense then would that actually help me? Then I just come off as a jerk who is attacking someone over words said on the internet, but while it would show a break from neutrality I can't see that part helping me when it leads to hostilities and breaks my personal code of avoiding conflicts and making friends and moving on, but reall I'm not sure if that post was meant to be humorous~ ^^"

I agree that the last thread I made in General was badly handled and I do regret that one~
However, I have no desire to rehash that bag of Badgers~
Judges are neutral and so are mediators and middlemen?~
Understanding criticism isn't the problem; while it looks like I don't understand criticism I do try and adjust to cause minimal problems; this thread seems far more civil than the other one right? I don't immediately adjust, I try and defuse the situation first because it seems right to clean up your own mess and apologize rather than leave a trail of enemies in your wake~
I much prefer Brandy, Irish Malt or Rum please~
