Strategy: His strategy is to try and get his opponent angry enough that he could capitalize on their blind rage.

Personality
Mateo seems to be inconsistent when it comes to his personality. Most people see him as this raucous and friendly figure that seems to get well with the crowd and the people around him. But those that actually know him (or think they know him) know that it's just a mask he puts on. The “real” Mateo seems to know not what’s right or what’s wrong, just simply what gives the harlequin a good laugh. To put it simply: you never know whether he’s just messing or going to clock you in the head.
Backstory
Although raised in Hawaii, Mateo was born in Portugal but moved when he was 3. Mateo grew up as a mischievous trouble-maker, getting into fights, being a class clown, and messing around with his best friend, Luiz. The two were inseparable, like Bonnie and Clyde. That was until the two found out about professional wrestling. It seemed like the most interesting thing to the boys since sliced bread. The flashy costumes, the death-defying stunts, the heroes, the villains. The boys were entranced by everything wrestling had to offer. So when they both reached the age of 15, they began to train themselves up for debut in the Kauai indie wrestling world, both bursting onto the scene in a fiery debut as an inseparable tag team!

4 years later they found themselves qualifying against each other for a contract in AFW, a big name company. It was a hard and emotionally-filled match that Mateo managed to come out on top. Once the match concluded, it seemed like the two would share one last hug before they went their separate ways and that’s when disaster struck when Mateo holding pulled Luiz into a brutal STO, leaving his former friend and partner a unconscious heap, much to the loud boos of the people in attendance. Whenever confronted by this, Mateo would simply just say “It was funny.”
