Personality: Hime is a difficult woman to pin down with any single word. If you ask her students, you find a driven mentor and an unshakeably passionate leader. Despite her unflinching matriarchal rule over her students, she dedicates her entire being towards training them, if only to snuff out any sign of weakness. Fear, intimidation, and strength are the main methods by which she rallies those around her. A revered warrior and a strict instructor.

The thrill of battle reveals the true Hime. Excessively arrogant and proud, Hime carries herself as the heaven-sent child of martial arts with a confidence matched by her skill. The only thing she loves more than victory are the wounds left behind. The quintessential blood knight, Hime loves to have her abilities tested and revels in the adrenaline of a tense match. The closest bonds between her have been found standing on the surface of a bloodstained floor, be that a tense rivalry or more “intimate” affairs. Strength is the only true measure of a person in her eyes.

Being weak is not disgraceful in itself, but rather in being content with one’s weakness. Hime would sooner die than fall into such depravity.

Usually dressed in her infamous dark gi; it’s bright red in-mesh often drawing the eye with the blinding speed of her techniques. It may change forms. It may require several ruthless steps to obtain. What defines power and where it may reside is an ever-shifting aspect of reality, but it is power nonetheless. And the oldest, most potent power dwells within.

Across the Ryukyu Islands, rumors lingered of a young woman traveling from one corner of the land to the next in search of that fleeting brilliance; the key to her center and the path to inner strength.

Over high mountains and across grass fields, Hime found humble tutelage under several schools of karate. Fighting desperately time and time again, she refined her technique through a long, personal journey of countless lessons and hard-fought battles that left their mark in the forms of deep scars across her body and the calluses lining her knuckles. She studied diligently on each schools' respective philosophies and worked to identify the weaknesses in their core tenets.

The importance of decorum, the value of mutual respect, and maintaining a clear mind; she found them all useless. Rather, Hime consolidated all the most practical elements of her learnings into what would eventually become her new foundation. Whether to paralyze, to break, to bleed, or to kill, nothing was beyond the pale. Hime's thoughts were devoted to a single-minded mastery of destruction. She often ruminated on how a blow should be dealt, but her body always seemed to move first.

Years passed her by. Seasons came and went. Teachers and students followed with them as the woman traveled on the wind, drifting as a leaf on the seaside winds. One day, in a school high in the mountains of Okinawa, she penned the last words in her esoteric text. Promptly, she turned on her comrades and demanded a fight. A fight that would see the clear mountain streams run red with their blood. On that day, she finally tasted true power.

When Hime finally arrived on the mainland of Japan, she came not as a seeker of knowledge, but a force of carnage eager to test her skills. Single-handedly, she toured every established dojo possible in the country and disgraced their masters one by one. Each battle allowed her to refine her technique and perfect her craft. A path of reckless violence fueled by an inharmonious spirit in search of a challenge destroyed the livelihoods. A hundred belts decorated her attire, a hundred names driven into obscurity and crushed beneath the weight of their humiliation. Atop the resulting field of fire, the Raijin School of Destruction was created.

The school maintains only one central tenet: Never lose. Strong fists and strict discipline were the only traits that her dojo would value. There was no place for humility, no room for openness, no time for peace. No hard and fast rules. Only loyalty to the master and the will to do what was necessary to win. Striking without remorse was the only path towards victory.

Naturally, there were very few students that could align within the Raijin School’s strict ideals. Injuries were a common occurrence and treated as part of daily instruction. Few would find acceptance into her school, yet Hime sought her pupils out all the same. Those seeking strength and a path to the realm of the highest.

The Raijin School quickly developed an infamous reputation that, with some hesitation, allowed their entry into tournaments on the regional level. Hime’s disciples were proven time and time again to be unmatched in open bouts. Although, this seldom garnered any degree of respect or admiration amongst the other schools. The other masters came to look upon her with savagery and her school filled with nothing but unworthy, unruly delinquents. As the Raijin victories mounted, so too did the number of injuries among various contestants participating from all over the world. The final straw came when the final round of the Kanto Regional ended with a victory in disqualification for an opposing dojo. The imminent rise of the Raijin School would only precede a disastrous fall only months later.

Raijin was banned from any further competitions nationally, with the international venues catching wind rather quickly at a worrying pace. Too worrying even for Hime. With her dojo struggling, she would have to expand rapidly and garner a significant amount of interest. She had to show the world what the Raijin School was truly capable of. If the current state of martial arts was not enough to sustain her, Hime would find another stage deserving of her ambition.

Soon, her attention was brought to Osaka, where rumors of a new league traveled on the wind and hummed to the dancing steps of a war drum...


Fun Facts:

-The Raijin School operates on a separate kyū system designed by Hime herself. New recruits are given a plain white belt with several circles lining its length. A single line continually connects one circle to the next for each level progressed until the final dot is reached, and all the chakras connected. Unlike typical dojos, however, progression is not defined by technique. Students advance based on greater and greater victories, regardless of their level of mastery. After all, a master that can be beaten by a novice is no master at all.

-Rock n’ Roll? Heavy Metal? Nope. Chillhop and lo-fi beats are the only songs you will find on Hime’s sparring playlist. It’s odd, because her intensity does not waver in the slightest.

-Hime is a frequent hair model for several well-established companies within Japan, Korea, the UK, and Australia. Lots of people in Osaka have recognized her because of it and frequently ask her for tips. She hates all of them so much.
