So I was just curious...
This is more out of boredom honestly, but, I've just been kind of curious about what you think about my RPing ability as a whole. Do my posts tend to get boring when the fight goes on? Do all my characters seem kind of like the same person? Which of my characters are you favorites?
I'm not too worried on this, but if you ARE going to post on here, please offer some constructive criticism. I can take suggestions fine, so don't hold back. And yes, I know it's tempting, but if you could, please refrain from posting sarcastic or 'lolzy' posts on here. This is a serious thing. Heh.. kinda mixing messages aren't I? ^^; Honest answers, possible suggestions, and maybe a couple names of my characters that you like over others?

Re: So I was just curious...
I may have not done a match with you, but maybe my post can help somewhat, as well as help those with similar issues.
Would you believe me if I told you that the best RPs can come from two people who can genuinely enjoy each other on a casual level other than creativity? This might seem a bit awkward, but I'm actually serious, here.
If you feel as if you're RP ability is in a bit of a rut, don't blame it on your writing ability completely. Sometimes, it has alot to do with the chemistry you have with the next person you're RPing with.
That's why it's always ideal to make as many friends as you can and be on good terms with people who you might potentially RP with. An RP can always be more fun when its between two people who enjoy each other. Not just for the players, but the spectators as well, since when you're reading a match with two people, you can tell that those two people were having fun, simply because you're having a blast just by reading it. Hope this makes some sense.
I truly hate to see someone beat themselves with doubt. I'm not saying its you, Pat, but just in general. Besides that, I suggest you try letting go and just try not to add any of your IRL characteristics in your characters. That is, if you feel as though every character you play as carry the same aura. As far as making the matches boring the longer it lasts, you should simply try and make them shorter " title="Very Happy" />.
If you need help about getting into character, you can let me know. I'd seriously love to help.

Re: So I was just curious...
Personally i have loved some of the roleplays we had together, while i found some others only half-enjoyable (for both us, i guess).
I agree with Iffy on the fact that it's often a matter of pure chemistry:
Sometimes, when we were playing a Sex Wars match, i was having fun but had the impression you were willing to finish it soon.
Likewise, i happened to be less taken than you by Friction matches, basically because my imagination runs "faster and happier" in mixed matches, i guess ^///^
As for personal favorites i have a personal wish... that you might decide to bring back into activity Comatose, your evil nurse charachter from the old times of Gaia. But i know it's not likely to happen ;P

O.O In all honesty, I had forgotten about her. She was just a carbon copy of Anesthesia though.

Re: So I was just curious...
Yeah what Iffy said pretty much nailed it on the head. RPs are 100% about the relationship between the two players. You cant have a good RP if you don't like the person you're playing with right? And if you have problems with acting and being fun you should try getting into charactrer. It sounds lame but its what real time actors do before they start shooting for a film. Just let go and have fun.
Oh yeah and Gaia is dumb.

I know Pat... but trust me, you had made her much better than the original, so i'd not call it a carbon copy after all ^_^O.O In all honesty, I had forgotten about her. She was just a carbon copy of Anesthesia though.

Re: So I was just curious...
This isn't my first rodeo, and this question often comes up in my head on a variety of topics (usually RPing). Your post really boils down to, "Am I good enough?" Good enough is rarely so. No matter how good you are you can always be better. There is always a better way to describe an act, a more verbose description of a quark, or a more succinct post. There is no formula. There is no broad exercise that anyone can suggest to make you better... but that's not going to stop me from trying.
Let me start by expounding on Mrs. Iffy's post:
Goodness can only be described as the actions between you and your partner (or partners you kinky people you). There are relationships where a few words are all that is needed in each post, and both of muns were in RP heaven. Conversely, I've played with people who only gave a few sentences that made me feel like retching... even those that gave me paragraphs of text per *action* and I felt like retching. In another group, I find myself making paragraphs to reply to paragraphs and being absolutely in love with everything. Unfortunately, I've found that dialogue prior to a play can sour the play when you start placing mandates on the technical. What I generally do is post at a length I enjoy for whatever particular moment or action, then work any direction in length as I feel comfortable. Assuming you are playing with someone new, see what their reaction is, maybe work towards their post length. Not everyone views or expects to get the same out of RP as you do.
In my experience, it's nearly impossible to know how much a new person likes in a post (read: I have no idea how to read people). Some people get intimidated by long windy texts, and others get frustrated with short and quick blasts. Some people feel speed is more important (to more quickly progress in a story) or others believe lengthy diction is the best way to truly savor a plot. Veering away from length of a post, most people I've encountered (read: the five people I can think of at this very moment) prefer good grammar over bad, third person over first, and the avoidance of 'filler' content.
As for character diversity:
When a person writes for a character, they draw on whatever knowledge is available on that character... all the knowledge they've created about that character. Anything that is pulled that isn't already in that reservoir of knowledge is created on what the person does know best (usually themselves). This causes most people to generate characters or portray characters that are very similar in attitude. Something I did to help break myself of this is to play stereotypes of people you would normally find yourself hating. Further, you need to know why your character is there, consider what your character is thinking at any given moment. I've seen a lot of otherwise good characters (in other groups, not ya'll) that are entirely vapid in the act of RP (Going through the actions but noone is home).
Don't take any of what I said personally, again I've only really glanced through probably 1% of your total fights, and prolly 0.1% of all the fights on this board.
tl;dr - I have a torch, and I hope I am lighting a way and not slapping bridges with it. Everyone can be a better RPer no matter what.
