'Gentle' Jack Riley

'Gentle' Jack Riley
Real Name: Jack Riley
Nicknames: Mr. Brainbuster, Jack the Rapper, the Duke
Age: 28
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde
Height: 6”2’
Weight: 185 pounds
Nationality: United Kingdom
Entrance Music:
Jack the Ripper vs Hannibal Lector Instrumental
Wrestling Information
Strategy: There’s very little subtlety to Jack’s game. While his height gives him a great reach and he could, theoretically, play keepaway with most of his opponents, he seeks to be close to them, instead, wanting to deal heavy damage in a short amount of time. He favors punches and heavy slams, and has a penchant for ramming his opponent’s head into things - there’s a reason he picked up the nickname ‘Mr. Brainbuster’.
Style: Brawler
Type: Rushdown
Preferred Matches: Street Fight, Hardcore, NHB, Boiler Room
Physical Statistics
Endurance:★★★★★ - Jack can give as good as he gets, and then some.
Strength:★★★★★ - He’s in good shape, though most of his strength is due to his size.
Speed:★★★ - Faster than you’d expect for a man his size, not too impressive otherwise.
Defense:★★ - Tends to lack the reflexes for good blocking and evasion.
Technique:★★★ - A brawler through and through, he’s light on finesse overall, save for his slams.
Wrestling Statistics
Strikes: ★★★★ - Jack’s a solid striker, focusing on solid punches and the occasional knee.
Submissions: ★★- Has a few simple submissions under his belt, but nothing special.
Powerhouse: ★★★★★ - Where he tends to shine the most.
Aerial: ★★ - Not his style, though he has been known to break out a surprisingly good Shooting Star Press every blue moon.
Counters: ★ - More complicated than he likes.
Signature Moves:
Finishing Moves:
Appearance
Personality:
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Jack grew up entitled, being lead to believe that his family’s pedigree made him better than everyone else by default. His father being a cutthroat businessman who spent little time with his family, he was left to develop his own morals as he grew, seeing life as a constant game of domination, and that’s the way he tends to treat anything and everything - they’re all pieces on a chessboard for him to manipulate, to move around as he sees fit, and the game only stops when he stops breathing.
That’s not to say he doesn’t enjoy the fight - he loves violence, whether he’s the spectator or the one dishing it out. He likes being in control whenever possible, and will go to great lengths to achieve that control, even if it means cheating - in his mind, anything the referee doesn’t catch is fair game, and avoiding the official’s gaze is as legitimate a tactic as anything else.
It’s rare for him to get really made, but the few that have accomplished this have lived to regret it. Jack doesn’t forget slights easily, and he never forgives. Getting in the way of his plans isn’t tolerated, and he can get laser focused on eliminating perceived threats.
History:
Jack was born into money, but not just any money. His father, Arthur Danse Riley, was the CEO of Royale, the UK’s premier wrestling company, one of the longest and most successful federations in Europe. As such, he was born and bred in wrestling tradition from as far back as he could remember, with the knowledge that, when his father died, he would take the reins of this legendary company and lead it into the next generation.
There was just one little problem - Jack’s father wouldn’t die. The man was hale and hearty in his advancing years, and showed no desire of letting the company go anytime soon. As the years went on, this would become more and more of a problem, as the AFW’s popularity brought a new, lewder form of wrestling to the forefront. Believing Royale to be his birthright and wanting it to be intact when he arrived, Jack decided to take matters into his own hands - he invaded.
With the help of younger talent in Royale, he began to amass power in the company, starting the Bluebloods stable. It started small, with just Jack and his personal guards, Lock and Key, but as time grew, more and more joined their cause. Lock and Key managed to secure the tagteam belts, they put the Union Jack champion, Red Rider, in the hospital, and it all came to a head when the Royale Champion, Little Jon, betrayed the company and joined Jack’s side, using the title as leverage.
It seemed like Jack was on the cusp of getting all he’d ever wanted, until his father did the unthinkable: he challenged his son to a War Games match, with Jack, Little Jon, Lock and Key against him and three wrestlers of his choice. The winner would became the undisputed CEO of Royale, but the loser would not only be banished from the company, but the entire UK. Jack didn’t like it, but he knew he couldn’t refuse the challenge and save face. He accepted, and at the Ides of March PPV, they future of Royale was decided.
As you might have guessed, they lost.
It was a close bout, but Arthur eventually came out on top over his son, eliminating him after a hellish Shooting Star Press onto a table from the top of the cage. Bitter but defeated, Jack had no choice but to accept and leave the island, never to return.
Cut off from his family, he along with Lock and Key, found themselves on the street. Thanks to their fighting skills, they were able to scrape by, though they had no shortage of run-ins with the law. After a year in the wilderness, Jack was able to make some contacts with the AFW, and used the last of his fortune to bride his way into the company, promising to behave in this new territory.
It’s a promise he has little interest in keeping.
Fun Facts
+Is something of a knife aficionado. Has an extensive collection of blades, but swears he’s never used them on anyone.
+Has some talent as a rapper. He’s not the greatest, but he was talented enough to make a decent profit on his Jack the Rapper EP. How much his family named helped, who can say?
+Is quite proud of his hair. Spends an inordinate amount of time prepping it every day, making sure it’s just right before he leaves the house.
+Has something of a smoking addiction. Lock is trying to make him quit. He does admit, it’s a nasty habit.
+Works out religiously, and posts pics to Instagram, where he has a sizeable following and occasionally gives tips.
+Got the ‘Gentle’ nickname from his mother, who said he was a shy boy growing out. That’s not how Jack remembers it, but he doesn’t argue.
