Yuko is an absolute daredevil and a somewhat technical wrestler. A true veteran that’s more than capable of squeezing out a submission should the opportunity arise, but the air is where she feels most comfortable. She’ll experiment with a wide range of attacks early on if she’s uncertain about an opponent to get a feel for them. Momentum and speed, however, is the name of the game. She’s extremely agile and absent any fear factor. Mainly uses high-flying throws and takedowns to disorient her opponent and soften them up for harder attacks. Expect bigger and bigger attacks towards the end of match. High risk, high reward, with a bit of planning to minimize the inevitable damage. It’s a strategy that would either make or break her career in Ring Dream.

As the Hero of Darkness:
This change in her strategy is marked by a heightened aggression and lack of empathy towards her opponent. In essence, she becomes more akin to a berserker, tearing into her opponent with reckless abandon, unwilling to stop for mortal issues such as “pain” or “doubt”. She becomes less concerned with high-flying antics and prefers to use her momentum to simply crush her opponents with straightforward takedowns, throws, and whatever painful submission holds she can muster.

Signature Move:
BDM (Brave Damn Hero) - With her opponent on the top turnbuckle, Yuko will shoot forward to intercept them, jumping off the adjacent midrope to the other top rope, reaching up and grabbing them by the neck. She will then flip backward off it, taking both her and her target to the ground with a springboard Spanish fly. A heroic sacrifice for a truly courageous feat.

Dragon Rider - Leaping from the top turnbuckle or top rope, Yuko will front flip and  wrap her legs from around her opponent's head. She will use this headscissors lock to force her opponent down before catching them in a double cradle hold pin, executing a dragonrana!

Excalibur -  “I will show you...the power kept in this right arm!” Summoning an unbelievable amount of strength, Yuko will toss her foe into the air before channeling all she has into an almighty right uppercut into their jaw. She’s been known to collapse backstage after pulling this off. Always with a smile.

Personality:
    Filled to the brim with endless pride in both herself and the world of wrestling, Brave Yuko is a courageous, spirited woman. She’s trusting of just about everyone and likes to see the good in people, even if they don’t present themselves as such. Her confidence in her abilities can be rather inspiring, and she tends to rely on them to remind others of their own potential. Her favorite RPGs have rubbed off on her, seeing herself as the hero the world deserves, amongst other effects. She's loud and boisterous like the heroes of old, but also has a curious habit of speaking in the third person and through dialogue trees. She's lost one or two bouts in the past this way, believing the match was acting on a turn-based system at times.
   As plain old Yuko Yamada, she's more or less the typical tomboy. She has a ton of energy both inside and outside of the ring and it's almost impossible to get her to stop smiling at times. She's far more rowdy and impulsive than Brave Yuko, but nevertheless sticks to her morals. She is selfless, kind-hearted, and one of the few individuals within the federation without any ulterior motives. What you see is what you get, and most people wouldn’t have it any other way.
     Past all of it, Yuko is a reliable woman that will always strive to do what’s right and help those in need.  Harm her friends, her fellow wrestlers, or besmirch her former promotion in any way, you wont get away with it. Respect and kindness, to her, are universal, and those who would exploit either for their own gain are less than scum in her eyes. If it means giving her heart and soul to defending the sport she loves so much, she’ll do it.

As the Hero of Darkness:
    The brighter the light, the greater the shadow it casts. In the rare event her monstrous blood spikes from agitation, or demands to be satiated, Brave Yuko will transform into the Hero of Darkness. A creature of malice latent within her very soul. Yuko will speak with a degree of haughty arrogance and taunts while staring unblinkingly into the essence of one’s soul. There is an almost regal air about her and an indifference towards the harm she causes. She is aware of her evil and sees it but as a means to an end. It is as though she becomes the voice of the abyss residing within her.
    In the ring, this will manifest with malice behind each of her movements and an almost playful attitude towards her opponents. She looks upon them almost as prey, simply existing to be vanquished. Mortal concepts such as pain and fear no longer concern her. All will submit and bow before their dark champion. There is no other option. She is still human, however, and retains some bit of her former self that will occasionally break through the cracks. Perhaps someone could reach through to her if they knew her well enough.
     At the end, however, Brave Yuko is a true heroine with an unbendable will of steel. If she can manage it, she’ll do her best to stop herself before going overboard and getting someone hurt. It is rare for this monstrosity to come out, and when it does, it will not stay for longer than the match duration before she manages to suppress it.

Appearance: A bright individual with a refreshing, yet contagious smile. She’s adopted a new look, considering her glory days behind her. Wears a usual top and belted short skirt with high socks and converse boot. Wears a scarf in place of her usual cape. She’ll bust out the classic attire for special occasions. As the Hero of Darkness, her hair turns to white as the evil takes over her mind. She’ll adopt a darker attire to illustrate the depth of the once noble hero’s depravity.

Hailing from the officially appointed “most boring city in Japan”, Yuko Yamada stepped forth into the world as a little ball of energy that could plow through anything in its path. Everywhere she went, Yuko would find some way to fashion a stick into a sword, or a grocery bag into a cape. Her very first memories were of how badly she wanted to be a hero when she grew up. Not like those of literature or the days of yore, mind.

Rather, her heroes came from RPGs. The valiant youngster from humble beginnings that persevered through all for the sake of others. Single-handedly defending their homeland in the name of justice. A person with no great destiny or heritage, but one who simply swung his sword for what they believed in. For what was good. She wanted to be a hero in her own right and explored every avenue she could that would bring her closer to her dream.

Nothing really worked out right away. The most obvious start for her was kendo. Swinging a sword was fun for about a week, but all of the instruction weighed on her. Then it was martial arts. Then track and field. Heck, even the piano. She was desperate to make something click, but nothing sat well with her. Her passion began to fizzle, leaving only embers fading away in her heart.

Then, a spark came. She’d caught herself watching pro-wrestling for about the umpteenth time that afternoon between glances from her Famicom. For weeks, she’d find herself tuning into the high-flying figures and dazzling aerial displays that rally the hearts and minds of an entire stadium in one fell swoop. Seeing her favorite figures take on the most terrifying men the world had ever seen. She loved it all. Eventually, her two loves would mix. She gave the sport a try, and she was good at it. That’s all really. Her natural talent and athleticism left her more than prepared the rigors of the wrestling ring. All she needed was a costume.

Drawing inspiration from everything from Dragon Quest to Chrono Trigger, Brave Yuko stepped into the ring as a hero looking to test her mettle against all that would have her. Her time in the amateur circuit was short, but every show never failed to amaze. Seeing the high-flying heroine in action was simply mesmerizing to many And unbeknownst to them, the young up-and-comer would feel their affections. Yuko’s day, night and dreams were all staked on the chance to become a real wrestler. With enough wishing, it finally came to her in the form of an offer from Ring Dream to come to their Fantastic World Women’s Wrestling league.

The Burning Blood Division. The most explosive personalities they could find all mustered into one place, yet she'd make a splash all the same.

Yuko was nothing short of amazing. With her natural ability and refreshing personality, it was no surprise that she would emerge as the leader of a gathering group within the division. The cape fluttering behind her into the ring became an ever prominent symbol of pride and respect for the squared circle. From one victory to the next, she’d lead her friends upward and onward through tag titles and midcard championships alike. Her reversal play in the FWWW Championship semi-final, in the last remaining ninety seconds, has become a story well known in the industry. A heroic tale to call her own. She herself had managed to attain the FWWW Throne only last summer. Her well-established reputation marked her as one of the league’s best talents since its conception.

A major turning point in her career began after her first title defense. A long and hard bout against an up-and-coming woman who’d taken up an interesting habit, slashing through and harvesting upon those fallen to her feet. When it ended in her defeat, the woman marked Yuko on the neck, as per tradition before the former champion was carried off to the hospital. For the first time, however, her fangs pierced the skin, drawing an ever so slight amount of blood. A minor accident, one that had gone unnoticed for a while even, but it corrupted Yuko down to the core. Her heart pounded relentlessly and her eyes grew twice their size. Her hair turned ashen white as she let out a feral scream into the ether. A beast of darkness latched its jaws onto her soul, permeating its sharp wickedness throughout her being. She let from the window and sprouted her wings, disappearing into the endless Tokyo skyline. For seven days and seven nights, she would stalk the wards of Japan as a monster of the night, devouring all unfortunate enough to tread the same paths as her.

That’s her version, at least. Going by the hospital records, Yuko had recovered in a matter of hours and was out the next morning. Her opponent came by often, feeling terrible about how everything had ended between them. The two had lunch together in her room, laughed the whole incident away, and left as friends to the arena. Supposedly, one of their conversations found Yuko joking about the idea of actually turning into a monster. It was amusing to the both of them, but as the time passed, and the possibilities came to the fore, they’d both agreed that it was simply too good an opportunity to waste. Together, they’d work to forge her inner beast long and hard, all the way until the nightmare was ready to become a reality. Yuko accepted the Hero of Darkness into her being, debuting the persona not long after her return.

Eventually, things began to change around the federation. Or rather, they didn’t. Things changed, but everything was still the same. New faces were coming into the ring. Old faces were starting to leave. Just as things always were. More and more of her friends and colleagues had begun to move on with their careers. Even her most recent friend and rival had been accepted into a world-class federation and the two shared a heartfelt goodbye. The hero was left with a choice. With the new talent coming in and many of her fellow veterans moving on to greater heights, Yuko decided to go with the tide and leave the Ring Dream promotion. To let nature take its course and give the new talents their time to shine. To create stories of their own one day.

She returned home to Nagoya for the following months, whereupon she entered a bit of a rut. Though she still loved wrestling, her professional career hadn’t quite developed to the stage she needed it to be. She was popular, but perhaps too much so. Promotions got cold feet about having such a rising star alongside their meager rosters. Yuko considered herself too overqualified now to go amateur again and risk harming the natural pro-wrestling ecosystem. She found herself standing on the pinnacle, yet with no idea where to go. Yuko would spend the time at convention center tables, signing promos years old and being forced to watch glory both old and new pass her by. Facing stagnation, she considered trying her luck at the professional scenes abroad and starting again perhaps in Korea or China.

She was just about to board the plane, in fact, when a scout from AFW stopped her. Between exasperated breaths, he’d explained that they’d actually been searching for her ever since she’d left Ring Dream. Yuko never changed her home address, however, thus her old manager had given the federation a dead end. It was only now, as she was about to step down one of the crossroads of her life, that the federation had given her some proper direction. Yuko would humbly accept.

Fun Facts:
- Fascinated by the female body. Breasts specifically. Expect compliments. (“Huh? What’s wrong? I’m normal.”)
- Her role as the Hero of Darkness is largley influenced by the Castlevania series, though she may take a few liberties here and there.
- She’s a big producer for fantasy games and has gotten quite a few major projects off the ground. While critically-acclaimed, very few of them were financial successes, so her contributions have largely gone unnoticed.
- The beast’s bloodlust is undying, keeping her tossing and turning long into the night. It’s unknown whether or not she will ever sleep well again. In actuality, she just needs white noise. Leave a fan on, she’ll be out like a light.
