Wrestling Information
Type: Capoeira influenced freestyle combat.
Preferred Matches: Any.
Physical Stats:
Endurance: ★★★★☆
- Endurance:
- Toughed by his early years, he is surprisingly resilient. He is able to enduring a an incredible amount of pain, mostly in part to the style of tattoos he obtained
- Strength:
- His strength comes from within, with perfect control over his own body allowing him to perform impressive feats. This however does not translate into his ability to grapple or lift others. Of which he is strictly average.
- Speed:
- Quick in both run speed and quickness of his offense.
- Defense:
- His defense is strictly his offense. Remaining mobile and hard to hit through use of his various street dance moves and capoeira. Cornered or grounded, he lacks any real skill beyond simple brawling tactics to defend himself.he prefers to remain elusive and not have to soak damage
- Technique:
- When it comes to his unique style, he is quite skilled. It's a shame he doesn't often apply himself to the full extent of his ability.
Wrestling Technique Stats:
Striking: ★★★☆☆
- Striking:
- Quantity over quality. He hits fast and often, able to wrack up blows relatively fast from places and positions hard to defend. His kicking techniques are to be feared, his fisticuffs are more straight forward. If he is too close to kick, he will tend to throw elbow strikes rather than punches.
- Submissions:
- He doesn't openly shoot for submission usage though.
- Powerhouse:
- Kicks are where his power lies and he knows it. Grappling seems almost a waste to him.
- Aerial:
- He makes use of quite a number of aerial kicks and flips. While he won't go out of his way to use them, given the chance to catch someone by surprise he will toss them into his assault.
- Countering:
- While in his rhythm, his offense can often be used to intercept and counter hit or capture attacking limbs for submissions. Without his momentum, he relies on being evasive rather than risking counter attacking.
Favored moves:
A variety of kicks. He's a simple man.
Signature Moves:
Tsuinfangukikku: Double backflip kick, designed to dig the toes of his boots into vital soft tissue on impact.
- Tsuinfangukikku:
Tobashi: Spinning back kick feigned as a heel blow. Used to capture and hold body parts. Primary standing use is hooking the head, it can be used to catch and hold attacking arms or legs as well. Generally he will follow these with a submission move, or simply wrench the body part grabbed for a quick and dirty followup.
- Tobashi:
Satsujin no kakato: Unrelenting offense of low center of gravity spinning heel kicks. He is able to cover huge areas of the ring with a fast and dangerous approach that most would find difficult to counter without having experienced something similiar before. The longer he goes, the more momentum he builds up leading to a potentially crushing blow capable of ending a match early.
- Satsujin no kakato:
Zetsuenjo: Kaiji is able to recover from a large amount of positions to launch himself into a corkscrew roundhouse. He will almost always use this to end a match when presented an opportunity due to the flashy nature of the move.
- Zetsuenjo:
Characteristics:
Personality: Kaiji in a normal social setting can come across as a relatively easygoing fellow, perhaps even a bit of a layabout. Unflappable and charismatic, he is usually all smiles, coming across as a pretty nice guy overall. Good natured teasing, some witty sarcasm, and no aversion to flirting, he can take people off balanced when used in tandem with his cool demeanor to push other people's buttons. Outside of work related matters he rarely takes anything or anyone very seriously knowing full well he had a degree of protection hanging over his position. This carries over into his dealings with Tension, if and when he is booked he couldn't care less about the results since he isn't really here to compete. When he's on the job, the level of autonomy he is given plays a huge role in how he handles things. Under oversight from his highers up, he has a very slash and burn take on things doing things aggressively and forcefully to get quick results, even if its sloppy. He's been around long enough to know what happens when he doesn't deliver results, especially with this pet project.
Past/History: "Raised" in a single parent home, Kaiji had always had to make his own way. He always was a smooth talker. In his younger years that didn't account for much. You can't reason with kids. Make them feel dumb by talking to much, and they just pound you into the dirt. He spent his fair share of time under the heels of bigger nastier people. Often time because he had stuck up for someone else. The idea of justice in the world was strong with him, the strong protect the weak. Everyone tries to do their best and they can succeed. It was all bullshit though. Any time he stuck his neck out for someone else, he took the brunt of whatever the punishment was, while his peer got off scot-free. There wasn't really anything to be gained in helping out other people, you can't buy cigarettes with smiles and appreciation. So he stopped and minded himself. Life improved after that, for awhile, eventually the came for him anyway. Branded a coward for giving up his old ways of sticking up for people. There was no escaping it. He had to toughen up or better yet, fight dirty.
He did what he had to survive all the way up through high school. That generally revolved around fighting. Over time he had gotten pretty good at it, not even needing to make use of cheap tricks and impromptu weapons to help him out. Soon he was not only running the the crews of delinquent kids that had tormented him growing up, but he was running them. When in a position of power, he found a better use for his silver tongue. Threats of violence and extortion seemed to be just as effective if not more so than the actual thing. It was around this time when his father got a promotion that took him to Shinjuku, alone. The cost of living was too great in the city so Kaiji was left under the care of a neglectful uncle. Money sent back from his father meant for his upbringing was spent on his uncles vices, leaving the boy under his care to live meal by meal at school. Having to find an alternative way to support himself, Kaiji took to dancing on the street, first alone but later with a crew of various foreigners who had migrated to Japan for the cultural scene. He had a natural talent and charm that did him well on the streets. Dropping out of school and breaking ties with his uncle, he used his new dance crew as a private army on the side, falling back into old habits of bullying the locals for quick cash.
Ordinarily they were able to roll most of the smaller establishments to shake people down for a payout, but he encountered a man who refused to pay up. Making an example of the man they took him into the back of his shop and laid into him, smashed up his wears, and gave him a warning if he didn't pay up by next week, they would be back to collect from something else. A week later they returned, and still the man refused to pay. So, making good on their threats then cornered the man in his shop once again, taking him into the back. Several well dressed men had been waiting for them. The shop owner was a protected man, affiliated with the Yakuza and Kaiji's crew had inadvertently overstepped into the territory of real gangsters. Forced to kneel before a man at the head of the table, he introduced himself and explained the situation.
His friends were not coming back, and he wouldn't see them again, but he, as a Japanese native, would be given a choice in his fate. Kaiji had shown qualities that they wished to have in their organization. He was a blade, finely crafted, but had yet to be tempered. He could sit and share sake with the man to become a member of the Yakuza, or die in the gutter for his transgressions. He took the former, gladly and participated in the ritual that sealed his fate by making him a made man. There was however, another price to pay. He had dishonored himself, and defiled a business under the protection of the Yakuza. Joining wasn't enough. They left him alone with a knife, a clean cloth and a bottle of sake after explaining what it was he had to do to atone. Twenty minutes later, he presented a section of his severed left pinky finger to the man who was not only his boss, but his new father figure on his journey through the ranks of the Sumiyoshi-kai.
He's been a member now for several years now. Having made his time though serving drinks, buying cigarettes, and running errands for his bosses. With a higher standing, he was finally able to get some investment in his own plans and with manpower to boot. With the surging popularity of AFW, it was time to get a nice piece of the wrestling business again. Investments are fine enough, but there was an untapped market within that arena. He's here to put out feelers to recruit Yakuza muscle from the Japanese and Korean talents found within the ranks of Friction and Tension as well as peddle a variety drugs along with performance enhancing concoctions. The further he can dig the teeth of the Sumiyoshi-kai into the wrestling organization, the closer Kaiji is to getting a seat at the big boys table.
Fun Facts:
Marked for Life: Kaiji has an ever growing amount of tebori tattoos which adorn his body. Many of which are incomplete. Over time he gradually has then filled in, as this process is not only extremely painful but incredibly slow. He will have a bit added to himself once a week as he works to complete his current tattoos. Each has a specific meaning to him, it also literally marks him as a made man for the Yakuza.
- Back Reference:
- Right Arm Reference:
- Left Arm Reference:
Drop the Beats: Along with being a fantastic dancer, he is capable of beatboxing extremely well. he tends to do this with his dancing or performing in the ring as a good way to keep his rhythm.
Legendary Cheapskate: The epitome of a freeloader, even though he has money to his name he will almost always push to have someone else front the bill.
Vice Grip: He loves gambling and drinking, though rarely ever paired together. He can be goaded into making wagers or even doubling down if the offer is temping enough.
Vaporware: Having recently kicked actual smoking almost a year ago, he bought into the electronic cigarette hype and is now something of a collector. Recreational smoking new and interesting flavors or as well as doing various tricks with the smoke itself. Don't both asking to share unless you're either interesting or a good looking woman. He will likely turn you down.
Crime and Punishment: He is missing a section of his left pinkie.
Shadey: He's the sort of guy who wears sunglasses inside, all the time.
