Watch Your Mouth: Zoey Jae Oh vs. Crista Zhang

Crista didn't notice that her kick mixed some ungodly combination of her old kung-fu experience and the straightforward brutality of a coarse street fighter more than Zoey's Taekwondo, with her failing to leave the mat and her leg straight and stiff. She didn't particularly care, either. The only thing that mattered was that her foot collided with Zoey before the other woman could strike again, and sent the smaller woman back to the mat. The ex-volleyball player dropped her foot, and was left looking at a downed woman who clutched at her chest. Precisely what she wanted. More than a few people in the crowd made it clear that the kick had been what they wanted, too. Bloodthirsty, apparently.

The larger athlete had a strength advantage, that was clear. At least enough of one to take Zoey off balance. The ever-analytical competitor, slowly forgetting her irritation and not one to toy, decided that now was the time to use it to negate Zoey's speed.

A press forward, and Crista, after briefly slowing as a twinge in her right knee reminded her of her last match, was moving towards her downed prey with a violent intent. Her school wrestling experience flashed as she drew in closer and stayed low. What she did when she got there, she decided on the way. Last time out, she had made the mistake of trying to convince a downed opponent to do exactly what she wanted, and taking her time.

Not this match. This match she was almost too sudden to be careful, taking a baserunner-esque dive towards Zoey's midsection.

By god was this a bunch of bullshit.

Not sure exactly what it was making her feel so cheated. It’s not like Crista had done anything particularly wrong. Quite the opposite, in fact. She’d been keeping in toe with the Taekwondo maven every step of the way. So what made her feel so fucked up? Aside from her stomach, at the moment. That could very clearly be labeled under the “fucked up” category with a gold star.

Nah, it was something else. She was starting to get the impression that this woman wasn’t just some volleyball player. Those kicks weren’t just strong, they were experienced. They had some hidden talent behind them that Zoey couldn’t help but try to snuff out. She couldn’t take this woman as lightly as she had been before. Even the crowd was starting to turn against her. Whatever few were there in the first place, that was.

She needed to stop this game before it ended up putting her down for good.

Now wasn’t the time to for that, though. No, Crista was quick to make sure of that. She came diving down on her like the track athlete she no doubt was in high school. The heavier woman landed square on her torso, giving the Korean’s already-mangled guts some additional and very much unneeded discomfort.

All Zoey could do was writhe weakly about on the canvas, hoping things didn’t That clearly wasn’t about to happen though. There was no way she was getting off this easy. If there was one thing Zoey knew down to a “T”, it was the ever eternal laws written in the vedic texts of “Talk Shit, Get Hit”.
