Asserting control

It should have been simple to do or at least thats what she thought. make the contract, look over and see if its the correct one, send it to her and she signs it. Simple and clean like all other situations. The freaking lion already signed hers so she thought Kyoko, who by all accounts had een more of a team player by a wide margin would be able to comply with it. However that turned out to be wishful thinking.

Kyoko Akan returned the contract unsigned and making it very clear that she wasnt going too. Two guesses as to how well that went over with her. So now Marissa Keyes had to actually head out to met her at a desginated spot to negotiate the terms and see if she could get her to comply. Though of course negotiate was a broad term to her, Kyoko could try but by the end of the day she was either leaving the company or signing the contract.

She knew that it was a risky move on her part, not out of any fear of what would be done to her for her part in it but simply because pissing off the person who has your contract could usually just mettle with all that she already has plans for, regardless she knew that not doing something wasnt a good idea either. Marissa took too many liberties with what she wanted and Kyoko saw the writing on the wall pretty fast, at some point she had to put her foot down. And the way she did it worked in more ways then one into getting her attention.

Marissa wanted to see her of course and Kyoko knew she was in for a long and annoying speech with a lot of big words tat have smaller words for them and are only used when she wants to sound smart as she heard the car pull up to the office that she was waiting for her at one of the many places she has them go to discuss things. "Well...hear goes." She said as she stood up and waited for Marissa to open the door. "Hello Marissa" she said sounding annoyed.

Marissa came in alone and immeadielty looked at her with her a polite face, though her eyes were clearing giving her daggers as she lifted her cup of hot chocolate to her lips and drank, taking her time while Kyoko thought about how this was going to turn out. "Ms. Akan, I wasn't aware we were on a first name basis." she said as she walked in and closed the door. It was cold in the hall way, hell it was cold in here too.

"So you came to discuss your contract? I don't see what the issue is. Its more or less the same as the previous one you signed with me only on a longer timeframe. What on earth can be bothering you about this time around?" she asked feigning curiosity in place of the annoyance that was actually there.

Oh great, so she was in that mood today, she expected the nasty looks but once she dropped her politeness and started to call her Kyoko she knew that something else was on her mind which meant she had an even bigger hill to climb in this dispute then before. Kyoko took a deep breathe before starting.

"Well yes Ms. Keyes but there is part of the problem. You say more or less but I looked over the contract and I have less freedom then I did before, my choice of matches is restricted and you've had a bad habit of squaring me off with rookies for debut matches when I'm looking for competition, to say nothing of what you have me do with Amy and all those...POW and other matches."

Kyoko laid out her grievances. All the expected ones anyway, and some she might be able to work with. Plan B might not be so necessary after all. She always di prefer handling things with her words anyhow. Much less trouble on her part.

"Ms. Akan, Kyoko you see that this is a much longer contract of two years not the orginal nine month contract I gave you last time. So naturally it should be a bit more restrained, like something to ease you into our dealings. And you complain anout the tag matches and the other matches yet id argue that those have given you alot of exposure. Surely thats more important than competition, youll have the next two hears to take on the higher brass we need to build you up a little and give the fans and the wrestlers time to evaluate you." Marissa tried to justify, Kyoko had always been easy enough to talk to so she was hoping shed get it and be done with things.

Marissa was civil enough at the start and Kyoko could only hope that remained the same for the rest of the time they had to deal with this. Honestly she was starting to feel the nips of the winter in this damn office herself and was grateful for the warmer clothes on her back Right now. Though regardless her words failed to placate her and she knew that she needed to be more persuasive.

"But I had problems with the old contract and would think that you as a Manager would realize this and you know, get rid of them. Instead your trying to make me take more of these pointless chores. This may not be obvious but theirs no fun in no competition. Id rather take that on now and burn out in a year then coast for all of my damn career and do nothing fun. Theres more to then just what you want you know." Kyoko said looking at the time and wondering how long this would take.

"Your concerns regarding the contract while noted are ultimately rather pointless. You may be the wrestler but your actions reflect on me and every other client. To actually presume your career is more important then then that is selfish on your part. All your accolades have come at my assistant and that takes some sacrifices. And no offense but your not as important as you think. I can make anyone as popular as youve been in a heartbeat so id appreciate if you were a little more cooperative."

Marissa remained stoic in her approach to the matter but the signs at her annoyance were there as the grip on her cup tightened and her eyes began to narrow. Her body was shaking slightly from the cold but it almost felt her anger was starting to outweigh that.

Great now she was getting hostile with her. So much for this being easy. Now she might have a better odds getting Marissa agree to fight her...which would actually be pretty fun...maybe she could make Marissa agree to it if she did that instead. Would certainly be funny for her.

"Sounds more like your making this more about you then you are about me doing that, if were being honest here. I don't feel like having a bit more control over my career, nor being treated with some respect and not your little pet project. Ms. Keyes with all due respect, we need to compromise here." She said trying to sound polite.

It was growing increasingly clear the two were never going to reach an agreement that didn't end in one submitting to the other. Really it probably wasn't all that much of a problem for Marissa to just change things up a little to accommodate Kyoko a little better but that wasn't the point to her. her refusal was a blatant sign of disrespect that she would not tolerate. Plan B it was then.

Marissa looked like she was ready to throw her cup at Kyoko in anger before suddenly...she calmed down. Backing up she opened the door. "Very well I suppose we can talk about it more on the ride back to my office, its much warmer there wouldn't you agree? Lets be off." She said walking out the door and heading towards the exit."

Kyoko actually had to take a step back when she saw Marissa looking like she was actually going to fight her or do something. On her guard and on edge she readied for whatever before Marissa calmed down and relented. Pulling away and actually offering to get out of here and discuss things.

Now that was music to her ears. "Thank you Ms. Keyes, I assure you I wont mistreat this opportunity." she sad as she walked out with her following behind as the blonde went to her car.
