I have no idea how WWE comes to often book his top face as asshole with neither loyality to his fellow wrestlers or bravery for years now. Maybe this is how a face is in the world of Vince McMahon?

When has the top face not been an asshole? I think the last time that was the case was with Bruno Sammartino.

Don't forget Cena himself. Cashing in Rey, AA-ing Seth inbetween his second match of the night against Sting, to name a few.

It's just weird booking man.

I never understood how Seth wasn't supposed to be the baby face that night. He wrestled Cena to another great match, lost clean, then took an AA outside the ring, then defeated Sting, clean, in his second title defense.

But Seth has been a weird mystery since his return in 2016

Reminds me of the Summerslam that same year, when WWE knew for a fact that in Cena vs Rollins, Cena wasn't getting the chants. So they clad Rollins in white, had him do face moves (The three suicide dives with gestures to the crowd come to mind) and even the huge rub of doing the catching AA to Cena.

I read a interesting take on that match by someone, that it was Cena trying to show Rollins how well he could do if he was an honest character (turned face). Rollins was winning that match right up until he started playing dirty, which is why he needed the chair from Stewart.
