Southpaw Regional Wrestling is the kind of thing this company needs to be doing more often.

Good News and Band News:
Good News: WWE is negotiating to possibly buy Ring of Honor and host ROH TV weekly on the WWE Network. This would be fantastic for ROH. ROH has been fucking DYING for the last few years. Nobody watches the tv show, they lose promising mid card and main event talent all the time, their only asset is hosting The Bullet Club and jobbing all their stars to NJPW, because they are nothing but NJPW's bitch right now.
The best thing they have to offer, by far, is their video library, and guess who would most benefit from having that library? WWE. Plus it might even lead to getting NJPW and WWE to make a deal to air NJPW stuff here too in the future, which would be amazing.
The Bad: After suffering serious injuries from a collision with a car while riding her vespa, Jim Ross's wife has passed away from her injuries. I speak for all of us when I say we offer our condolences, thoughts, and prayers, for JR and his family during this time.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
For the good news, Ill believe it when I hear of the deal being officially signed
For the bad, I heard about what happened, but I hoped she would survive. Extremely saddened to hear she passed away.

I don't see the increased monopoly on wrestling as a good thing

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
ROH would just go from being NJPW's bitch to being WWE's bitch if that happens.
I don't see how ROH being bought out would mean anything about NJPW and WWE. And frankly I hope the two never even consider anything like what's being talked about going on with ROH and WWE.
Totally agree with kerflubble too. Wouldn't say it's a monopoly right now just because there are tons of different promotions where people can work right now. But if WWE just throws a fat check at anything with a reputable history or that is starting to gain serious traction, then that just fucks shit up for fans of those promotions, especially those like me who have absolutely no interest in WWE.

Ill put it another way, under wwe, roh has a shot at surviving and improving. Under njpw and how they are currently managed, they are dead in the water

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
The number of RoH matches I have seen can be counted on both hands, but I can understand why people fear WWE buying it.
At best, it stays the way it is but looses edge and its own identity, like everything WWE has under its command.
At worst, it is ECW all over again.
I am in general baffled how nobody can make serious money with wrestling beside WWE.
Either it is a terribly small market with such low margins that it simply can´t be done or everyone who wants to open a promotion is a terrible businessman or woman.
A noble benefactor and probably attitude or ruthless aggression wrestling era fan who does not loose sleep when his promotion reels in a net loose of lets say 50 million dollars per year for the first years would be a way I guess.
Kind of a guy that buys Goldberg and Lesnar for a no holds barred match in a ring that is surrounded by burning pillars with Stone Cold as the guest referee, the Rock with a surprise drop in from a helicopter while Kelly Kelly strips outside for every near pinfall under the eyes of commisioner Hogan just for the heck of it.
In european soccer, these benefactors exist and gladly fire half a billion euro through the chimney to get their chosen club going if the need arises. The 8 Million that Cena probably gets per year is probabably enough to lure a reasonably good international football player to an internationally acclaimed club. But Ronaldo, Bale, Messi or Lewandowski don´t leave their comfy homes for such low payment, and if you really want to win the Champions Leagues, you better have two or three of these guys.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
tl:dr: Just wondering why WWE is the only company to make real money with wrestling and a little crossover to football and its rich benefactors.^^
