Alicia Wells vs Gallium Heart - Debut Match

With no warning whatsoever, the arena was plunged into darkness, every light cutting out as one even as the sepulchral opening chords to Buck-Tick’s The Nightmare cut in, echoing around. As the first words sliced through the fans’ whispering, a single red spotlight stabbed down through the murk to illuminate the tall form of Alicia Wells, standing alone in the dead centre of the stage. Stood with her hands causally resting on her hips, the muscular redhead was garbed all in black – sports bra, cycling shorts, MMA gloves and boots all in the same stygian hue. She took a long moment to glance around the arena, taking in the sights with a decidedly unimpressed mien, before she strode down the ramp, still shrouded in the crimson light.

Entirely focused on the match she was about to fight, Alicia didn’t look to either side, completely ignoring the fans in favour of keeping her eyes fixed on the ring ahead. She’d been waiting for this since she’d come out of that sparring match with Valley Doll and, if she was feeling any nerves, they were extremely well hidden behind eyes gleaming with excitement and the wolfish smirk splitting her features. Of course, this might be her first match in the AFW but she’d competed on a local level before.

Her opponent tonight was one Gallium Heart, although her best efforts had turned up surprisingly little about her – she seemed to be almost as new as Alicia herself. Fair enough, she supposed, although it was not heartening – hah – that Gallium had lost her own debut match. On the other hand, she was supposed to be the protégé of Silver Ace, who was someone she’d definitely come across in her binge watching of old matches. So that boded better, at least.

Better than the entrance. She hadn’t really had much say in either the music or the set up but she supposed it was ok. Maybe she'd get to change it down the line. If not... Well, it could be worse.

Coming to the ring, she rolled under the bottom rope and popped back up to her feet, moving immediately to the middle of the ring as the lights came back up rather more slowly than they’d faded. The response from the fans seemed more one of interest than real excitement just yet but the newcomer did manage to get a decent cheer when she unleashed a swift series of kicks at an imaginary opponent as the theme music drew to an end.

Or possibly that was because she was a busty redhead with killer legs and most of the audience was male. She didn’t really care. She wasn’t there to make anyone like her in the ring, after all. They could cheer, they could boo – whatever.

Stretching out her limbs, Alicia paced around the ring like a caged tigress as she awaited her opponent’s arrival.

"Haley, you sure about this? I mean, look at her! She's got more than 40 pounds on me, and she's taller than you! She's gonna clobber me!"

"Cmon Gallium! You know better than to adopt a defeatist attitude like that! I told you when you said you wanted to join AFW, that stuff like this would happen. You're going to have mismatches, you're going to end up losing here and there, and yeah, much as it sucks, sometimes you might even get squashed."

"Yeah...I know..."

"Do you remember what else I told you?"

"That if it happens, it'll happen, and that its a learning experience to toughen myself up, and that there's no shame in losing, even getting dominated, by a stronger and better opponent, as long as I can honestly say I gave it my best effort and learned something in the process."

"You're damn right. I know it sounds weird, being told to fight, if you don't think you can win, but that's exactly why you fight anyway, to learn and grow and experience so that you CAN win these fights! Got it?"

"Right...I'm ready!"


Ace and Gallium had their little pow wow as Alicia entered the ring, seeing the girl on the screen, the size and weight difference making the pink haired rookie nervous as her own theme, "Where's My Thing?" by Rush, played, the instrumental signaling her turn to come out onto the entrance ramp, with Ace clapping her on from behind.

Clad in her white one piece, that was good to move in for her speed, even if Ace had picked a revealing one that showed off her back and legs while clinging to the rest of her tight enough to leave little to the imagination. ("Sex appeal is like, 60 percent of making it big in AFW" she had said, a mostly true statement)

Still Gallium didn't mind too much, blushing only a little at the various whistles that came her way as the barefoot fighter slide under the ropes and into the ring, stretching lightly as she looked Alicia's way.

"Hey there! I'm Gallium! Don't let the size fool you, I can still win this!"

She boasted, hoping there was more truth than what she thought to what she was saying. Having lost her debut match, the rookie was nervous about losing again. The last thing she wanted was to disappoint her childhood friend Haley, or worse, have people think Silver Ace was some kind of bad trainer.

Alicia’s first glimpse of her debut opponent didn’t really give her much to go on – the petite wrestler was considerably smaller than the tall kickboxer, but that didn’t say much. Pausing in her movements, the redhead leant back against the ropes to watch Gallium approach. What sort of name was Gallium Heart anyway? At least Silver Ace meant something…

And it didn’t take much in the way of brain cells to see which of them was destined to be the fan favourite here. In this corner, the plucky underdog wearing white while over here in black…

She was distracted from her musings as Gallium slid into the ring and promptly declared she could still win this.

”I guess we’ll see.”

Her answering smile was a slasher’s grin of bared white teeth. Alicia pushed herself off the ropes, nonchalantly tugging one glove into place before clenching her hand into a fist.

”Just make sure it’s a good fight.”

As she spoke, she’d stalked close enough to offer Gallium a polite handshake before they kicked things off. If the pink haired girl took it, fine, if not Alicia would back off until the bell rang.

Gallium shivered. That smile...that was scary... still, despite her nerves, Gallium stepped up, shaking Alicia's hand and backing up.

When the bell rang, Gallium, arms out in grappling stance, came out of her corner, bravely coming closer to Alicia. Once they got close enough, she'd starting trying to circle her, the barefoot fighter going back and forth, thinking of how she could take the bigger and heavier fighter down without getting caught!

Handshake done and formalities over, Alicia too backed up into her corner, her eyes never leaving Gallium as she waited for the bell to toll and smirk still firmly in place.

As soon as it did, she was out of her corner as well and closing on the smaller woman with a fast, practiced shuffle. While she could probably have just overpowered her if she got her hands on Gallium, the redhead had other plans. She wanted to play to her own strengths, hence the kickboxing stance she was using by contrast to her opponent’s choice.

She certainly didn’t intend to just stand there and let the wrestler circle and circle until she’d worked out a plan. Against Valley, she’d been considerably more cautious by her standards. Here, given the situation and her opponent, Alicia was happy to go for it.

Instead, feinting a lunge once, the kickboxer then shot forward faster than she’d been moving up till that point with a powerful front kick aimed right at Gallium’s solar plexus.

Gallium had never fought a pure striker before, and it showed, as the rookie moved in closer than a more experienced fighter would have as she circled the bigger fighter.

It cost her in the end, as Alicia suddenly moved far faster than Gallium had expected, the pink haired wrestler taking a hard kick right to her stomach, the foot sinking into her thin body, bending Gallium over even as it knocked her back onto the mat, the girl rolling around on the mat holding her stomach in pain for a few moments before scrambling up to her knee's, panting, a gust of air having been knocked out of her from that kick.

"Y-Yo won't get another of those!"

She said, trying to sound bold while still wincing from the kick, breathing harder as she got up, taking a deep breath and getting her arms up again in a grappling stance.

Her kick landed home, which didn’t surprise her, but the results were decidedly more than she’d expected – not that she was happy about it.

Alicia watched with lip curled in disdain as Gallium gasped for breath, distinctly underwhelmed at this first showing. Sure, she hadn’t been holding back, but was that really the best she was going to get? Because she was definitely disappointed right now. She hadn’t been expecting Valley’s level of skill, but taking that long to get up from the first kick?

Pathetic. And she certainly wasn’t convinced at the statement that she wasn’t going to get another of those in.

Keeping her own stance up, the kickboxer didn’t wait for the smaller fighter to get back to her feet and get back in the game. Instead, she was advancing as soon as she saw Gallium get to her knees. Not bothering to reply, she went for the double collar tie, intending to use it to pull Gallium’s head down to meet her upcoming knee.

While she had lost, Gallium had showed in her last match that she wasn't fragile, having taken some hard drops and painful holds and lasted a while before getting pinned.

But that was against an opponent her size, who was probably holding back a bit. Against a girl taller and heavier than her, kneeing her hard right in the face, it was needless to say Gallium was at a disadvantage.

The swift knee smashed into the girls face, dropping her onto her back as she cried out, hands quickly rubbing and pressing against her face, hoping her nose hadn't been shattered in the process.

So, she’d heard this girl had been training with a major Friction star. And, based on what she’d seen of Silver Ace, the woman had earnt her cred. Alicia was seriously starting to wonder if she’d taught her protege anything about defending herself from a striker though. So far, this was feeling less like a fight and more like target practice.

Colour her unimpressed as her knee sent Gallium right on her back again, this time crying and not even trying to stand.

Looking to keep the pressure on, Alicia went to drop her knee right into Gallium’s belly from a standing position, ignoring the fans’ reaction. If that worked, she’d go to switch to mounting the smaller girl, looking to smash a few forearm strikes into her face.

At this rate, her ‘opponent’ would be crying and screaming the second she got a scissors on her but Alicia was hoping that maybe Gallium would show some spark. Preferably really soon.

"FOR FUCKS SAKE GALLIUM, COVER UP!"


Ace yelled, slamming her fists onto the ring apron. Sure, her student was still new, and maybe it was a bit early to put her in the ring with a striker, but still, she was letting the size difference get to her way too much.

Desperate, and with a knee dropping onto her stomach and knocking what air she had gotten back forced out of her again, Gallium did what she was told, getting her arms up over her head and trying to cover up as Alicia rained down hard blows on her arms, a couple getting through to peg the smaller fighter in the face!
