Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Mikoto didn't let up her hold for a minute, despite Marina's struggling. The burning sensation in her ankle just got worse as the shrine maiden lifted her leg higher and higher. "G-Gh..." The hell she's settle down. Even if this hold wasn't the worse, she wasn't going let Mikoto start out with an advantage if she could help it. Though the kick to her leg definitely stopped her struggling for the moment. Mikoto wasn't a TKD fighter, but it still hurt get kicked in Marina's current position, and she knew if she continued she'd just get kicked into submission. Dammit! It looked like she had no choice be to stop struggling and hope she could survive whatever Mikoto was planning.
And was Mikoto was planning wasn't hard to guess. The moment Marina was flipped she knew what was coming. A boston crab, and that submission hold would hurt. "Don't you da-" Marina started, but was quickly cut off by a small yelp of pain as Mikoto on top of her and pulled her leg back. The gamer instantly clamped her mouth shut, refusing to give out any other cry of pain that might had shown weakness. At least it wasn't with both legs, but this would seriously cut back her own offense once she got out of it. "Mikoto..." She growled out in defiance. With her free leg, she started to kick and thrash about, trying to make it harder for the miko to keep up with hold.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Mikoto cautiously pulled back on Mari's ensnared leg while her backside scooches down her opponents tortured spine until she was seated just below her shoulder blades. After witnessing the devastating effects of her Japanese leg bar on Miss U.S.A.'s crippled limb in her last match, Miko now took greater care in the application of her judo repertoire, knowing not everyone has the tools to competently handle it. In comparison to Miss U.S.A. the priestess was actually taking it fairly easy on Mariko up until now, taking care not to overwhelm the rookie and gradually ease her into the submission and the discomforting pain that came along with it.
Mikoto flicked one of her bangs of hair out of eyesight before resting her hand on the knee of Mariko's contorted leg, the match now slowed to a grinding halt with the Japanese audience appreciating both Mikoto's technique and Mariko's resilience so far. The priestess felt Mari's leg muscles tighten up under the renewed strain, with an embarrassing side-effect of the boston crab being Mari's cute skirt flipping upside down to reveal her white gym shorts to the world. Mikoto struggled to maintain her seated position with Mariko clearly panicking and flopping around like a fish out of water, eventually relinquishing the hold and gently setting Mari's worked over limb on the canvas.
"You're hanging in there just fine Mariko-san, but you should know that everyone here is a superb athlete...as to whether they can handle themselves in the ring is an entirely different matter." Mikoto advised while slowly striding over to kneel in front of Mari, then attempting to lift her back up again by her arm. She was showing some restraint in this match by not continuing to punish the same leg, somewhat sympathetic towards Mari at this point who was clearly struggling...

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Despite all of Marina's struggling she couldn't get Mikoto to back off, and the hold only got more and more painful as the miko pulled back further. Even Marina's back was starting to hurt now from it. Fuuuuuck... She thought bitterly, doing her best to keep any sound of pain clamped down. It was so hard to resist the urge of screaming. This was starting to turn out like the sparring matches she had before she joined the AFW. The only thing worse than this was the fact that she knew Mikoto was just playing with her. Well, alright, not so much playing with her, but Marina knew her opponent was holding back and still kicking her ass. That's what really hurt her pride. It might had been a nice gesture to the newbie, but it still left Marina pissed off.
After a bit more torture, Mikoto finally released her, probably figuring Marina would tap out from that, or just wanted to try something else out. At the shrine maiden's words, the gamer just scoffed. "I told you, I'm not weak." She said, clearly irritated. Even if she didn't show it, that hold did a bit of damage to her legs. She could still walk and kick, but her strikes would probably be weaker now from the soreness and pain. She allowed Mikoto to lift her to her feet and began fixing her skirt. Thank god I wore shorts. She thought, dusting her skirt off. "Alright Mikoto-chan, first point goes to you, I can admit that much." She said reluctantly. She could instantly feel the sting Mikoto gave her with that damn boston crab while on her knees. It caused her to wince a little, but she refused to give anymore away than that. "Anything else you wanna' say before we get back to it?" She asked, getting back into her fighting stance. Now she was definitely going to let this girl have it. "Because fair warning, I'm gonna' come at you hard now, and I won't let up until you're knocked out or submitting."

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Gingerly lifting Mariko back to her feet, Mikoto took extra care not to allow Mari to put too much of her weight on her injured limb to prevent the gamer girl from buckling under the pressure. Once Mariko once was standing again, albeit with a somewhat crooked posture now, the priestess would take a few steps back while her opponent adjusted her outfit. She bounced on her heels and stretched her arms out while Mariko regained her composure, knowing someone as pridefully arrogant as Mari would be not taking their lop-sided exchange of wrestling moves in a particularly positive light.
Still, hearing Mariko begrudgingly admit that the priestess was the clear victor from their little tussle gave Miko hope that maybe Mariko wasn't entirely a lost cause. Perhaps she could still be taught some humility if the match progressed in the same direction...
"Mmm....not really, no. Well, except that I offer my apologies if you think I you made look bad just then, but it was just my response to being taken lightly. However, if you still think you can handle me so easily...than I invite you to try again..." Mikoto boldly retorted with her steely eyed glare narrowing in concentration. She could never quite get the hang of 'trash talking', hopefully she didn't come off sounding overly pretentious...
The priestess resumed her widened judo stance and gradually encroached upon Mariko, stealing glimpses down towards her opponent's clearly damaged limb and the soreness from it which Mariko struggled to hide. Something Miko would have given her kudos for, fighting through the pain like that. Nevertheless, knowing Mariko 's lethal kicks were her greatest asset, Mikoto kept a watchful eye on her legs until she was within grabbing range of her opponent. If uninterrupted, Mikoto would swiftly attempt to clamp onto Mari's left arm and spin in place to press her back against Mariko's chest, attempting to heave her up and over in an over the shoulder judo flip.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
With her leg still stinging with the pain of the boston crab, Marina had to be careful with how much wait she put on it. Her stance was really relying on her good leg now, which sucked. Marina watched Mikoto's eyes shift to her legs, a little more than worried about what was going through the miko's mind. Was she looking at it out of concern, or locking in on her target point? Given her previous statement it was probably the former, but she was ready for her either way.
Marina eyed her opponent carefully, watching as she went to grab her leg. She wasn't going to let Mikoto grab her again so easily. "No way!" She quickly jumped back to avoid Mikoto's grasp. The moment her feet hit the ground though she felt her bad leg start to get to her as she put pressure on it. "Ah!" It was only a split-second of hesitation before Marina went to fight back. "Hah!" She immediately stepped forward, lifting her good leg to give Mikoto a hard sidekick to her face.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Examining Mariko's disjointed stance and how her shifted weight made it obvious that the gamer girl was favoring one leg over the other led Mikoto to assume that she would be too sluggish to react appropriately towards her grab attempt. So to see her opponent nimbly hop back and out of arms reach came as a surprise until Mariko apparently buckled under the sudden strain on her ankle. Mikoto's initial reaction, regrettably, was to lower her guard and approach Mari with a concerned look on her face...
"H-hey, take it eas-" In that one brief opening Mariko's wicked kicks would finally hit their mark, smacking into the side of her face with enough force to spin the priestess to the side and cause her to collapse to her knees after drunkenly stumbling forward a few groggy steps. The impactful blow echoed towards the rafters though at the moment all the priestess could hear was a high pitched ringing in her ears, now hunched over with one hand nursing the noticeable red welt on her cheek.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
If it wasn't for the damn pain she was feeling in her leg from that kick, Marina would had probably been showing a lot more excitement from landing her first hit on Mikoto. And what a hit it was, the crowd pulled back along with shrine maiden it looked so painful. Marina got a good look at it herself. Damn, that had to hurt. She thought to herself, seeing Mikoto trying to pull herself together after her kick. She got a good look at the red mark she made from her kick's impact and held back the urge to wince herself. Despite that though, she continued to lay on the pressure.
"I'm not done yet!" Like she said before, she was going to let up on the girl now. She got a good hit in and she'd be damned if she was going to just let Mikoto recover so she could counter. With Mikoto on her knees, Marina would get behind her opponent's and push down on her back with her foot to get her on the ground.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
"Hggh..." Mikoto flinched from even the slightest touch on her bruised cheek, the stinging pain and immediate loss of her equilibrium from the jarring kick bringing her down to her knees. The first actual bit of offense taken from Mariko and she was already left reeling in a heady daze after easily relinquishing control of the match back to her opponent, a strike so swift and seamless the priestess questioned if she could have dodged it even without her concerned distraction.
Mikoto's blurred vision was only just beginning to come back into focus after some forceful blinking before the disrespectful shove to her back tipped her forward onto the canvas in a slump. Groaning with the side of her face pressed against the mat, Mariko's earlier warnings about being unrelenting in her wish to see Mikoto taken to the brink of unconsciousness echoed in her mind, compelling her to lethargically work her forearms under her and attempt to slowly push herself up...

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Marina's lips curled into a small smile as Mikoto still struggled to stand. That kick certainly did a number on the shrine maiden, and this would probably be the gamer's best shot at doing some damage. She pressed her foot down a little harder on the girl, rubbing in the small victory a little as well as trying to keep Mikoto down and helpless.
As her opponent attempted to get back up, Marina would try to sit on her back to keep her on the ground and start to wrap her hands around her opponent's chin to set her up for a camel clutch. Marina wasn't a seasoned wrestler, but she knew some of the basics, and she'd make Mikoto her practice partner for this match.
Okay Miss Shrine Maiden, let's see how you like it. Part of Marina really wanted to continue the whole TKD vs. Judo thing she thought they'd be doing for awhile, but she knew that'd be too risky given how quick the tide could turn if Mikoto countered her again.

Re: A Gamer's Debut: Mariko vs. Mikoto!
Allowing her opponent the chance to recover was an overtly noble characteristic of Mikoto's that many of her peers have scolded her for in the past. They admired her for her gentle nature and sense of fair play, but insisted that it was a noble characteristic that would cost her greatly and had no place in in the ring. Mikoto nevertheless still found it a difficult habit to break, even towards someone like Mariko who outright predicted her doom at the offset of the match. Though now she inwardly cursed herself for it, finding herself suffering for her decision as she was pinned back down to the mat with Mariko's foot between her shoulder blades.
"Nngh..." Along with Mariko seating herself on Mikoto's spine came the old familiar sense of dread that came with being put in this position numerous times before. Although she recognized the setup, the throbbing headache lingering from Mariko's sidekick still left her too dazed to resist it's application as the gamer girl would easily synch in the camel clutch. Gritting her teeth and shutting her eyes from the sudden strain on her neck, Mikoto resisted the urge to cry out in pain as her cupped chin was yanked back. While not expertly applied it was still enough to keep Mikoto grounded in the rookie wrestler's clutches...
