NewPerson Arrives

Hello everyone, I am the NewPerson, in more then one way (Sorry for the terrible name).  Right now I am bit new to wrestling (goes well with my terrible name) but I am starting to get into it.  I think I know the basics and I am willing to learn more.  Currently I am still reading up on all the rules and trying to figure out how everything works.  I do have an idea for my wrestler in mind, a heel.  Anyways I look forward to getting to know you all and rping with you girls and guys.  If you have any questions feel free to ask.

There are tons of ways to learn more wrestling jargon and moves! There are long lists of moves to give you ideas and there are tons of good wrestlers out there to learn from. I have found this site to be particularly useful when trying to come up with the names of moves.

Oh wow, it's got pictures and all for every move. I wish Wikipedia was as good as that site when it came to wrestling. Thanks for the help.

That's a pretty good site, though. If you're trying to learn more about wrestling, my advice would be to do a little Youtube surfing - there are a lot of compilation videos out there that show highlights and can give you some ideas. Find a few wrestlers you really like, watch them wrestle, and pay close attention to the way the matches flow and work. It can really go a long way.

I think right now what I truly need to work on is how the flow of the match works. Due to my previous rps being just pure combat and not wrestling, I have the tendency to always be trying to counter attack and never just laying down and taking a beating for the show. Though I hope I can quickly improve and get rid of this flaw.

There is something to be said for not just sitting back and taking it, but you should be mindful of how much you counter and strike back. It sounds like you are already aware that this is wrestling, not MMA. It is competitive, but it is also entertainment. I have struggled with finding the right balance, and it is hard to pin down. But once you get a few matches under your belt, things become a lot more clear.

Also, it might be a good idea to get a Yahoo Instant Messenger. A lot of dudes on the board have it, and it can be pretty darn useful.
