Are Ya Feeling Lucky?

It was a nice spring day outside. Warmer than it had been which was a welcome change to many. The sun beamed down on Alaina as she sat waiting for Ace. She was wearing black workout shorts and a blue tanktop along with white and blue sneakers. She had mostly healed up, her face still showing some signs of her match with Brittany Luuve. That would go away soon thankfully.

Alaina wanted to clear the air with Ace. She did take a title shot away... and was cheated out of a win the same way Ace was cheated out of a title. Alaina felt like she had to explain herself, and in her mind she was justified for taking the title shot when she could. Alaina had a coffee and spent more time looking into her cup than drinking it while she waited.

She really did hope Ace would understand why she did what she did.

Ace let out a small sigh as she jogged, taking advantage of the nice weather and the outdoor meeting Alaina had asked her for to go for a run, clad in running shorts, tank top, and tennis shoes, getting a few stares during her run before she slowed to a jog, getting nearer and nearer where Alaina wanted to meet.

Finally she saw her, sitting on a park bench not far off, moving to join her. In truth, Ace was nervous about this meeting. Alaina and her hadn't seen or spoken to each other, aside from Alaina's text to meet up, since Alaina had been offered a title match from Gwen, and had cast aside a chance to give Ace her deserved rematch for a shot.

In truth, Ace hadn't taken it well, storming off and watching the match backstage, leaving after so as not to see either fighter. Later, Ace felt somewhat ashamed of herself.

She sat next to her friend, worried about what her reaction would be to seeing her again.

"Heya..."

Alaina saw Ace coming and was mentally preparing herself for a multitude of possible reactions Ace would have. Was Ace going to be angry? Happy? Upset?

Alaina had no idea. When Ace approached and greeted her in a non-hostile way Alaina felt a wave of relief sweep over. "Hi Ace, how've you been?" Alaina asked. She would get to her piece shortly but wanted to at least try to engage in a pleasant conversation.

An added bonus was that as Alaina left this morning, she saw almost no signs left over from her last two matches. The gash on her forehead finally healed, as well as the bruising from Brittany's fists pounding her face.

"I've been alright I guess..."

Ace said, leaning back on the bench and looking at her friend.

"I saw your match, you did great, really, you had it in the bad...You got screwed over man..."

She looked down, still feeling embarrassed.

"You really should be champ right now. You deserve it."

Alaina smiled and nodded to Ace. "Thanks, I appreciate it." She said of the praise. "It should have been you I faced as the champion though... she screwed you over too."

As nice as things were, Alaina needed to clear the air and get things off her chest for better or for worse. "I... listen, I felt bad about taking that title shot but for all I know it was the only title shot I will ever have. I had to go for it. I wasn't trying to screw you over, or steal anything. You did deserve that title shot, and the crowd wanted that rematch. I just couldn't turn down a chance like that." Alaina said with a sigh. After a moment she shook her head, looking down. She wasn't sure if her explanation would help or hurt things. She just knew she felt justified in what she did, and wanted to at least explain herself.

"I just wanted to explain where my mind was at when I took Gwenniecakes up on the offer for a title shot."

Ace smiled, putting her arm around Alaina's shoulder and giving her a small hug.

"Hey, I get it...and I'm sorry. I acted like an idiot. It was a big opportunity that you deserved and you had to take it. Honestly, I would've done the same thing. I should have just supported you. I was just pissed off that Gwen stole my belt and instead of getting a rematch I deserve, its being ignored. But still, I shouldn't have taken it out on you."

She looked at Alaina head on, offering her hand.

"Friends?"

Alaina smiled and shook Ace's hand. "Friends." She was glad that Ace was being cool about the whole thing. If Alaina were in Ace's shoes she wasn't sure how she would have reacted.

"Speaking of rematches, you are feeling better right?" Alaina said with a grin. "I think we have a little match that has been agreed to for quite some time huh?" Alaina knew facing Ace would never be easy, but after what happened with Brittany she needed to get back in the ring. She knew it was the best way to get her confidence back and the best way to show the world that she was more than some psychopath's punching bag.

"Hmm? Oh yeah, trust me, I'm fully recovered. I won't be as easy for you to toss around this time around!"

Ace said confidently, glad to have put their issue behind them.

"How about you? I uh...I saw that match with Brittany...that was messed up..."

Alaina sighed and looked down. "I kept trying to get back into it, throwing everything I had at her and... I dunno, she just took it like it was nothing and kept hammering me." Alaina said as she swallowed. "I was powerless and helpless. I've never felt like that before and I will never feel like that in a match again."

That was the truth. Anyway, anyhow Alaina would never allow herself to be a helpless victim at the hands of anyone in a match. Especially not anyone like Brittany Luuve.

Ace reached out and hugged Alaina again, knowing exactly how she felt after facing the likes of Akashi and Iron Maiden in the past.

"You'll kick her ass next time, no doubt about it!"
