It´s WM 6 all over again, you know, where Warrior defeated Hogan and won the WWF Championship, laying down the US championship instead of the IC championship. Well, not exactly the same, those two were icons already then, this one is the merchandise of WWE vs the random guy that wears the WWE championship...

More than likely. They're panicking because while Cena: King of the mid-card putting over the new talent sounds like a good idea on paper, in practice they're still relying on Cena to sell the merch because the Network isn't the sure-fire money maker they'd hoped for. So he can't lose because when he does his merch sales dipped. That's part of the reason why Kevin Owens lost, they panicked because Cena sold 5 less T-shirts because he got his ass kicked by a new up-and comer.

So you have a guy who can't put anyone over in the midcard fighting guys who really need a win to get over, and no-one in the wrestling business besides maybe Sid (who probably had a softball game to go to and wanted to go see that instead of work a full champion's schedule) is going to lobby for themselves to lose. So they really need Cena back on top of the card despite every live audience being sick to fucking death of him for the past 5 years at least. /Cornette

Honestly I don't find Cena to be that bad a wrestler. He's definitely not the greatest by any means, but the guy's put on a lot of great matches too. People tend to just write those off as his opponents carrying the entire thing, which may be more true for some than others, but definitely not ALL of his good matches. And he's been regularly adding new things to his move set rather than just sticking with the "4 moves of doom"

Still, it does get annoying that WWE is so afraid of letting him lose against people who need the win WAY more than him. And I hope Cena doesn't win the WWE championship at SummerSlam, because I feel like that would cheapen his entire run as U.S. champ. But the match will still probably be excellent, and hopefully they book it so Seth walks out still the champ. Idk how likely that is, but I guess we'll see.

Oh and last mania was the first one to make a loss. And this includes WM7 where they had to switch venues because they couldn't sell enough seats for the first.
