Wow, Sheamus came from looking like Ronald McDonald to looking like a punk on roids with the mohawk. It has a certain tribal warrior theme, but it looks rather funny then intimidating.

Just looking at boxing, George Foreman was 50? when he came back, Ali was 45+, and both of them became World Champions in a "real" sport. The older Klitschko retired undefeated at an age over 40 and is still champion emeritus.

The record national soccer player of Germany, Lothar Matthäus, was 43 when he made his last game for the national team, in a sport where the top players retire with 35.

I am not that much into football, basketball or icehockey, but Madden, Gretzky or Michael Jordan were not that young either when they still were playing top in major leagues.

None of them is really broke I guess, maybe some poeple simply love their profession.

Although i have to admit that whenever I read, "Terry Funk retired", I have to laugh.^^

Roman was getting "Worse than Cena" chants. Ouch. I mean it's true, but it really sells how much they fucked up trying to push him.

And Reigns is not even the worst choice for the position of WWE´s chosen champion in the last years. Caveman Ryback, the Miz as WWE champ and Sheamus in his Cena 2.0 phase spring to mind, or luckless Alberto del Rio.

Reigns was very easy to like when he didn't say anything. They just really really really really really...

really really fucked up with the material they gave him. I could have lived with "BELIEVE THAT" but the fairy tale and loony toons bits were a bit too much. Some people should just never speak. Those people are Ryback, Batista, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and to some degree Undertaker. Just their presence is enough to speak for them.

All those people you mentioned are way better than Reigns.

Even if Ryback can be dangerously sloppy, he can do pretty impressive things in the ring and DOES have the ability to get over.

I love the Miz as Champ and I love Sheamus as well.

At least all of the above have SOMETHING to work with. RR is pretty much lacking in all areas. He pretty much only worked in the Shield because he had two AMAZING talents there to talk for him, sell for him, wrestle for him. All he needed to do was come out and Superman punch a guy and say one line every once in a while.

To which I always said: "Shut up, Roman." even during the Shield days.

I agree that everyone else I mentioned is way better than him all around, but I feel like there was at least something about him that was interesting in the Shield before they schlepped all over it. That could have just been the other two carrying him, but I gave him a bit more credit then than the nothing we all give him now.
