Kyo Akamatsu vs. Carmen Rodriguez - Let's You and Him Fight

Kyo's kick did better than expected: instead of simply winding Carmen like he thought it would, it sent the Latina tumbling out of the ring and crashing to the floor. As Kyo watched, the boxer weakly propped herself up on her hands and knees, while in the background, her fans began to chant her name and urge her to get back up. Given how little of a good offence she had managed in this match, Carmen was clearly seen as the underdog here.

Kyo found himself torn: the adrenaline-fueled warrior in him wanted to jump outside the ring and continue wailing on Carmen, but the rational, honourable part of him wanted to hold back, wait for Carmen to recover, and let her back into the ring so she could fight again on even terms. In the end, he settled on a compromise: he gave Carmen a few more seconds of recovery, before sliding out of the ring, grabbing her head, and pulling her back towards the ring.

Carmen shook her head as she started to get up, glad Kyo was giving her some time to breathe. he needed it. The submissions still stung like crazy, and falling on the apron hadn't done wonders for her body, either, but she felt some of her energy start to come back. It wouldn't be an easy trek back to solid ground, but she felt she had a chance, and so did the audience. The sound of about ten thousand people chanting her name was more than welcome.

Kyo wasn't about to ignore her forever, though, and soon enough he came to bring the fight to her, trying to get the fight back into the ring. Falls counted anywhere with this match and there was no count out, so she wasn't sure what his game plan was since he could win just as easily on the outside...but she went along with it, anyway. The more time she had to recover, the better.

Carmen rolled into the ring and tried to make her way up as soon as she could, get her feet on the ground and back away to the center of the ring.

Carmen was already getting back up as Kyo approached her, gingerly recovering from her sore state. Given that falls weren't counted outside the ring, Kyo briefly entertained the idea of throwing her into the corner post. He quickly thought better of it: ringside brawling wasn't his style, and besides, if he was going to defeat Carmen, he wanted to do it cleanly, in the ring.

As they rolled back into the ring, Kyo was on his feet first, as he was still in a better condition than his opponent. If Carmen was still on her knees by the time Kyo stood, then he would grab for her wrists and press a knee into her back in a classic surfboard hold. If she managed to get to her feet, though, then he would wrap his arms around her waist, hoping to surprise her with a quick belly-to-back suplex!

By some miracle, Carmen managed to make it up to her feet before Kyo could get to her, but she knew that was probably going to be all the leeway she was could ask for. Kyo was a real competitor, really pushing her to the edge, and if she didn't do something quick, he'd push her right off and watch her fall all the way down. She needed a turnaround, and if there was ever a time to go for it, it was right now.

When Kyo grabbed her from behind, she swung her elbow around and tried to clock him square in the face before he had the chance to execute, taking advantage of a brief moment where his head was totally unguarded to score a quick but brutal blow.

Carmen made no effort to resist as Kyo pulled her back into the ring. At first, he had thought she was still sore and stunned from the earlier holds she had suffered. This proved to be a mistake: Carmen's elbow suddenly shot back, nailing him in the cheek. "Gah!" he gasped. The blow wasn't very strong, and the angle it was at meant that it had just given him a minor glancing blow. Still, it was enough to surprise him and send him staggering back, releasing Carmen's arms in the process.

He shook his head, trying to clear out the cobwebs. For a few seconds, Kyo was stunned-- a vital few seconds that Carmen could take advantage of. But if she didn't, then Kyo would waste no time in launching a retaliatory spin-kick at her head!

She was out. Free. Thank God. Free to take him straight on again. Now, the only question was how to go about doing that, exactly. 

Kyo was still on the fresh side, and Carmen was under no illusions that her little elbow was going to do anything more than stun him for half a second, tops. Sure enough, when she turned around, Kyo was already on the move, looking to take her head off with a deadly spinning kick.

It was an all-or-nothing sort of move, and Carmen saw her chance. Right there, right then. She ducked under the kick, letting it sail so close of her hair that his heel clipped her hair on the way down. She popped back up and lashed out, looking to him before he could recover with a harsh right hook to the jaw, looking to score some head trauma. If she wanted a knockout, that was where she needed to invest her time.

Kyo's cheek ached from where Carmen had glanced him, a faint bruise already forming over his handsome features. He would worry about his looks later, he thought-- right now he had to focus on putting Carmen back down and making her tap out. To this end, he maintained his momentum, twisting his lithe body around and snapping a let up, completing his revolution in a well-practiced spin kick at Carmen's head. "HYA--!"

A kick which, to Kyo's surprise, Carmen managed to duck. Catching himself, Kyo manage to bring his foot back down just in time to prevent himself from falling over, and, on instinct, tilted his head. He was too slow, though, to bring his arms up, before Carmen did exactly what Kyo was afraid she would do: she landed a direct punch into his head.

"GUUUHHH--" Kyo's head snapped back, and everything suddenly seemed so far away as he tilted backwards. The roar of the crowds turned into a dull ring as he crashed onto his back, and for a few vital seconds he was lying on his back, staring up at the stadium lights as the ref girl began the countdown.

"ONE..."

There. There.

Carmen put everything she had into the vicious hook. Dedicated herself to it. Muscles. Her weight. Her speed. Her momentum. All of it came out in that single blow, and the results showed. Time seemed to dilate as her fist crashed into his face with devastating results, shoving one of the best blows she'd ever delivered right into his skull.

Carmen reeled back with her other fist, started to work into a rhythm, swung out hard with another hook from the left, but got nothing but air. Kyo was down. Dropped. It all happened so fast that her body didn't even register it.

She stepped back and gave the referee some space as the crowd roared all around them, more than a few of them even getting on their feet. She raised her fist up as she made her way to the middle of the ring, but only for a precious second. Then, she had to bring it right back down so could bend over and start catching her breath. If Kyo got up from that - if - she was going to need all the endurance she could muster.

A dull ringing noise drowned out all of the background noise as Kyo lay flat on his back, twitching and groaning. His skull reverberated like a drum, and he was no longer quite sure of where he was, or whether he was standing or lying down. Maybe he was floating? He couldn't tell, but maybe if he rested his eyes for a minute and--

He caught himself, dimly hearing the ref girl counting down in the background. He was not going to lose like this, taken out by one punch (although it had been a very effective punch). Groaning, he twisted to the side, getting a shoulder off the mat, before willing his dazed body to move, flopping over into a roll until he got to the ropes. He would crash unceremoniously onto the ring floor, and slowly but surely press his knees and elbows to the ground, trying to clear his head as he tried to force himself upright...

It wasn't much of a break, but it was better than nothing, and Carmen got as much out of it as she could. She watched as Kyo clambered his way back up, struggling for every inch. He'd get up, she didn't doubt that. The only question was what he'd have left when he did. Hard man. Tough man. How many times would she have to hammer this nail down before it stayed put? One way to find out.

The submission were still taking their toll, but she managed to limp over into position in the middle of the ring, waiting for Kyo to get back on two steady feat as the referee continued her count, getting closer and closer. Some of the crowd was cheering for him to get up, some were cheering for him to stay down. Carmen? She just wanted the fight. "Come on, Kyo. Know you've got more in the tank than that in the tank."
