Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
“Oh, I'm sure you haven't perfected it,†Helvetica sneered, at Mai's mention of the figure-four. “Or much of anything else, since you're so busy figuring out your highly complex fursona, there ...†Helvetica's frustration's were beginning mount, behind all of the snark. It was clear this girl wasn't here to wrestle, but to play the part of the little pop star and pander to the crowd. But despite how obviously untalented she actually must be, Mai had managed to put Helvetica down hard to the mat, twice. Helvetica huffed. She was obviously going to have to stop taking it easy, on this little witch.
Helvetica was quickly roused from her inner grumblings, however, when she looked up to see Mai putting her legs into position for the figure-four leglock. “Oh, crap!†she shouted, startled. “Crappity crap!†Immediately, Helvetica started pumping her legs to kick wildly at Mai. Having fairly strong, fairly thick legs, the young American hoped to be able to be able to kick her feet free of Mai's hands, possibly even land a kick to Mai's midsection. It was far from graceful. Or technically sound. Or even terribly dignified. Helvetica told herself to come up with a justification later. For now, her only priority was to keep her opponent from locking in that hold.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
For the first time in the match, Helvetica finally shut up and actually tried to FIGHT the catgirl. In probably the saddest way she could think of. Mai held onto Helvetica's legs as long as she could until finally one of the bicycling legs broke free of mai's grip and kicked her unceremoniously in the gut.
"Oof!"
Mai released the other leg and backed away. She looked down at the turtled up Helvetica and smiled. "Ok, great!" Mai clapped her hands patronizingly. "That was a pretty solid kick, Lee-san. So, in your expert opinion, what would you follow that up with? Or, How should I defend or counter? It definitely appears that you've gotten me over a barrel with your expertise."

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Helvetica couldn't help but feel a swell of pride, as her boot found its mark, right in the center of the gut. From Helvetica's perspective, it looked like a lucky shot. But, the "student of the game" told herself that those sitting out in the audience clearly had a better view of the match, and probably saw all of the skill and acumen that was behind that kick. Yeah. That was it.
Still, it burned at the back of Helvetica's skull, as Mai stooped to trying to mock her. Rollling over to get to her feet, Helvetica glared daggers at the arrogant cat-fox-whatever-the-fudge. Who was this girl, to think she could try and talk some smack to the "student of the game?" Rearing up, pivoting her weight off of her ankle, Helvetica swung hard from her hips to deliver a solid, full-palm slap, straight to Mai's arrogant face.
"I'd respond like this!" Helvetica sneered. "By shutting you up, and getting down to the damned match, already!"

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
*crack!*
Mai's head snapped tot he side after taking Helvetica's hard slap. Mai wasn't too keen on eating damage but when she saw the slap, she wanted to show Helvetica that she'd have to do a LOT better than THAT if she wanted to get anywhere in this match, let alone this league.
She stumbled back a step and touched the red mark on her face. She didn't smile but she didn't look angry either. Instead, she pushed forward, trying to lock up in a proper collar-elbow tie up and drive Helvetica back towards the ropes.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Helvetica took a great deal out of watching that slap connect. Sure, Mai didn't seem that hurt, by it, but that wasn't the point. The point was to send a message. and Helvetica felt like she'd done her job in that regard. Sure, Mai's expression seemed to remain neutral, but Helvetica figured that on some level, it had to get under the little's pop stars skin. It was a slap to the face, after all. Obviously, even a singing catfox had to understand the implications behind that, right? Obviously.
Helvetica began to gain confidence, as she watched Mai step back. However, she was unprepared for Mai to lunge forward, and try for a lock up. Clearly, Mai didn't know when she was supposed to be reeling. WIth Mai coming in full on, trying to push Helvetica back towards the ropes, Helvetica was left scrambling to try and answer the lockup. It was Mai's left hand, over the ... Well, the elbow was ... Helvetica looked down at Mai's arms, grappling her, but couldn't figure out for the life of her how the lock up was supposed to work. Clearly, Mai had no clue what hold she was trying to pull off. That was the only real explanation, after all.
So, as Helvetica found herself being pushed backwards, she responded in the only way that made sense. Planting her back heel, the American shot her other leg out in a harsh kick, aimed straight at the catfox's belly. It was a simple strike, certainly, but Helvetica was convinced of its elegance. And if she managed to connect with it, the added momentum of Mai's forward movement would mean that she could really set the poor girl up, for something truly impressive.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Mai sort of felt bad for the way she was driving Helvetica back once they had locked up in the "collar elbow" Mai had strong legs for sure but when it came to brute upper body strength, she wasn't the best around. Normally she would never attempt a lock up like this but with the case of Helvetica, she just wanted to prove a point. The fangirl believed that Mai knew nothing about wrestling whatsoever when, in fact, she knew a LOT about wrestling. She was as dedicated to it as she was anything else in her life and having a good time with the fans didn't mean she slacked off in her training or took her fights lightly. Helvetica didn't even know how to tie up properly!
Mai was looking ahead to when she backed Helvetica into the ropes. She was going to Irish whip her and hit her with a hurricanrana on the comeback. She didn't think she had to worry one bit about the bespectacled fangirl until she suddenly threw her leg out and snapped a kick into her taut belly.
Mai's eyes widened and she stepped back. She was caught unprepared for the kick and it was definitely more painful than a slap!

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Helvetica could hardly believe it, as Mai managed to push her back to the ropes. How could someone so blatantly untalented, so clearly cut out to be a wrestler, luck into so many effective spots? And such a dominant position? It utterly baffled Helvetica. A weaker mind might have even started questioning how complete their grasp of wrestling was, faced with such concrete counterpoints. Helvetica's wasn't such an average human being, however. She was "the student of the game," and if hours of blogging had taught her anything, it was that she couldn't be so weak as to think an actual wrestler might know more than she did, about wrestling.
Helvetica drew a breath of relief, as she felt her boot connecting with Mai's toned midriff. A kick that was totally not luck, she assured herself, but coldly calculated strategy. The American had managed to get a strike in, and she knew that the best thing to do from here was to press the advantage. It was the professional thing to do, at least. Twisting at the hip, Helvetica aimed a another slap straight at Mai's pretty little catfox face. She tried to give herself some space, put some room between the two girls so that she could really show off.
When she'd managed to put a foot or two between them, Helvetica gathered herself. She was more than ready to step beyond those simple, basic strikes, and give the audience something more. Taking a deep breath, Helvetica bent at her knees, before pushing herself up into the air for a devastating dropkick. Helvetica had seen the move performed a hundred times, on tape after tape from wrestling promotions ranging from Ontario to Osaka. It was an easy one, but certain to get a crowd pop. Especially after they'd had to sit through crap like Mai's idea of "professional wrestling."
Helvetica made it about two feet off of the mat, curled into herself. She came down hard, crashing back to the mat, before she was able to extend her legs into that kick.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Mai was doubled over from the kick and then the slap came. Another loud crack! to paint a deeper red mark over Mai's cheek. Her head was turned and she squeaked in pain as she staggered again. The catfox blinked and looked at Helvetica as the girl leaped gracefully in the air. She knew it was a dropkick and unfortunately she'd just have to eat it. Until...
plop...
"Oro?" Mai's ears wiggled in confusion as Helvtica just landed in a ball on the mat. Mai's lips twitched and suddenly she brought her hand to quickly and impressively stifle her giggle.
"Ahh... Lee-san, what a devastating maneuver." She said, trying not to chastise the poor neophyte too much. "Um... what were you actually trying for, exactly/" She asked, peering at Helvetica with wide, bemused eyes.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Helvetica couldn't suppress a yelp, as her tailbone bounced unexpectedly off the mat. Everything had been kind of a blur, since she'd jumped up for the dropkick, but she was uncomfortably certain she hadn't felt anything like Mai's body being crushed under her boots. Instead, just a sharp, shooting pain from her buttocks on up to her spine.
When Helvetica got her breathing under control, she struggled to a sitting position. Glaring up a Mai through flush-red cheeks, it was clear that she was in no mood to be teased. Regardless of how much she might have deserved it.
“Th-that was your fault!†Helvetica snapped, propping herself up on her hands and feet, trying to take some pressure off of her bum. “For reasons that I'll come up with later, but you know are totally valid!†With that, leaning onto her hands and left foot, Helvetica lifted her right boot try try and stop on Mai's. The attack was sudden, but unfocused. Petulant now, visibly pouting, Helvetica seemed to be trying, childishly, to take her self-directed frustrations out on Mai, instead.

Re: Mai Nagasawa vs. Helvetica Lee
Mai furrowed her brow as Helvetica began to berate her for falling on her own ass. This girl was more full of excuses than an online distributor failing to deliver an otaku's prerelease super limited PVC figurine on time!
The catfox pulled her foot away with simple ease when Helvetica tried to petulantly stomp on it. The girl had a bad attitude but now she was just being a poor sport. Mai didn't care much for that one bit.
"Is this what you were trying to do?" Mai asked as she bent her knees, leaped straight up, pulled her knees into her chest and flawlessly shot them outward to slam her boots into Helvetica's own chest. A drop kick was a pretty basic thing and Mai could do them all day long from pretty much any position. The mecha neko was always a good sport but Helvetica's insistence that Mai was still just a hack was even trying the idol's nigh infinite patience. Anyone with half a brain could see how outclassed the fangirl was. Mai was pretty sure that the girl who thought she was a mutant that could shoot eye lasers was better than this girl.
