Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
All right, Charlie was ready to build up some momentum. Army looked worse off than Charlie figured he would be, but beginners luck was a great thing huh?
Charlie ran up and sprang skyward from the ground floor to the top rope in one leap! He heard a few cheers of surprise from the crowd and held his arms out, motioning for the crowd to get louder. It was still early..... but Charlie wanted to infuse his special touch of fun into the match, all from a movie quote from Super Troopers.
Charlie reached into his pocket and pulled out a fake moustache. "All who, who wants a moustache ride?!" He shouted loud enough for the crowd to hear. Now for the turnbuckle hurricanrana.... provided his antics didn't waste too much time.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Yup, he was going for that high-flying shit. Took him long enough.
Army waited in the corner, patient for once, as Charlie did his thing. One of the many funny little difference between wrestling and boxing, the way people like Charlie spent so much time talking when they should have been fighting. Shit-talking was one thing. Charlie was practically doing an SNL sketch in the middle of a match. Wee bit insulting, really.
But Army was in a prime position to make him pay for it, and that was damn sure going to happen. He leaped up and wrapped his legs around Army's head, going for the hurricanrana, but Army sprung to life the minute he locked it in - this couldn't have been a better setup if he'd asked for it.
He ran out of the corner, hopped up, and slammed Charlie down with a powerbomb, driving his back down hard into the middle of the ring. "Word to the wise - if you make a joke and nobody laughs, it ain't funny."

That couldn't have gone worse. At least he got some laughs from the crowd..... Charlie groaned in pain as the powerbomb did a number on his back. He barely stirred as he realized his sweet fake moustache was knocked clean off his face. So much for looking like Blake Anderson with less hair for the duration of the match...
Charlie rolled onto his stomach and began to get up to his feet, unfortunately he was so jarred by that powerbomb that he was at Army's mercy.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Oh, that was immensely satisfying. Army was going to have to do powerbombs more often. The look on Charlie's face through that the silly mustache, the way the crowd all winced when he came down, the shock of the impact...sweet. So sweet.
Army stood up and dusted himself off, watching as Charlie started to do the same, only much, much slower. "You okay, bro? Need some help up? Here, I got you."
Army came over and helped Charlie to his feet...by wrapping his arm around the guy's neck and pulling him up with a rear naked choke, powering down around his neck and putting on some extreme pressure.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
"Unngh fuck..." Charlie grunted as he was lift up and put into a nasty hold. He really needed to get away from this powerhouse who was choking the life out of him. How the hell was he gonna pull this off?
Charlie didn't think this hulk would expect a bunch of elbows hammering into each side of his ribcage. If he could just get Army to loosen his grip Charlie could slip away and charge towards the ropes. The extra momentum from springing off the ropes could help him set up something to turn the tide back in his favor.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Army grunted with each blow to his rib cage, and found himself wishing he'd done a bearhug instead and trapped Charlie's arms. The elbows started out as just annoying, but the more he did them and the faster they came, the worse they started to get. Hit something hard enough and often and it will break eventually, and Army's ribs were no exception.
He let the hold go and pushed Charlie off, figuring there was no sense in getting busted ribs this early in the fight, had to think about the long haul. He took a hot second to rub his side, then charged at Charlie the moment he bounced off the rope, coming at him with a harsh clothesline. "Going down!"

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Finally free! Charlie felt himself get shoved against the ropes. As he sprang back at Army he saw a monsterous clothesline coming his way. Out of desperation Charlie rushed forward fast, leaping up knee-first directly at Army. He didn't think Army would be prepared for a knee flying towards his chest or head.... as long as Charlie was the one making contact he was a happy camper.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Charlie was, in fact, not prepared for a knee to the chest. He really wasn't prepared for a whole lot of things, but that especially.
The knee crashed into his chest and let out a loud thud as bone met muscle, the force enough to even knock him back on contact. He fell to a knee, shaking it off. Had to admit, Charlie was good. Good and a pain in the ass.
"Little guy's working you over, in there." Carmen leaned on the apron, still lazily watching the match. "Sure he's not too much for you?"
"Not helping." Army didn't even both getting to his feet - just bounced forward and threw a punch low, going for Charlie's leg to take him off guard. Up top, down below, his punches would still sting.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Charlie was pleased to see his counter work, but when Army punched Charlie's left leg it took him by surprise. Charlie felt enough pain to fall down onto his back.
This wasn't really where he wanted to be at all. Army was in front of him, still on a knee but perfectly capable of knocking Charlie senseless. However, Charlie still had his right leg and Army's face in range. If his plan failed he'd have a skilled boxer pounding his face into next week. If Charlie could swing his foot up, aiming to kick Army in the jaw he'd buy enough time to get to his feet.

Re: Army vs. Charlie: Boxer Against Flyer
Once again, the old mainstay came back to help him - his punches were always a good fallback when anything failed, enough power to turn around any situation. At least, that's what he thought until Charlie kicked him in the face.
Charlie was a skinny thing, but he had to give the man credit: he knew how to swing that leg and make it hurt. The kick connected with a loud smack that had the audience wincing, and Army wobbled away while grasped his jaw, holding the ropes for support. Nothing broken or unhinged, but it wouldn't stay that way if he took too many more of those.
"Hey, Army." Carmen called out, as she pulled out an extra seat from the announcer's table. "Think you should watch out for the kicks."
