King peeked out from behind the curtain as the commercial break came to a close, watching as the audience started to fill back in from their bathroom breaks. In just a minute or so, her music would start and she would make her world debut. For some reason, she couldn't help but be surprised that there were actual people in those seats.
She knew it, of course. She was a semi-regular fan of the AFW before joining, mostly catching the straight-up fights and staying away from the hentai when it popped up. On a good night, Friction would get close to a capacity crowd. On the best of nights, it was full to bursting.
But knowing that and seeing it were two different things, and it only really dawned on her at that specific moment - she was going to perform in front of the largest crowd of her life. She'd done fights in the underground, but they never reached much higher than a hundred, at best. This was thousands on thousands, and that was without counting the viewer at home, or the people who might catch this later in a recording, or during reruns...
Millions. Millions.
"You look nervous." Sally's voice snapped King back to reality and she spun back around, looking down at the smaller girl, all bright, blonde and cheery. Her sister, Elizabeth, wanted to come, as well, but someone had to stay behind and tend the bar - Sally won the coin toss, so here she was. Her smile was infectious enough that it spread to King and brightened her enough to curl her own lips into a smirk.
"Do I?" She started to do one last check for her clothes, straightening out her jacket, adjusting the cuff-links. "I can hardly imagine why."
Sally reached up and pinched King's jacket, making a wrinkle that the lioness had to immediately flatten out. Silly girl, sometimes, but the levity was helping assuage fears and soothe nerves. "Relax. It's just a match. Another match. Of which you've had plenty."
"In the street."
"In the street, yes. Turn my way." King did as asked, and Sally stepped up, helping her with the last minute preparations on her attire. "Just ignore the crowd. Remember who you are, what you're fighting for. Remember Jan. You've always been confident, no reason to lose that now." Sally pushed up on King's ever-dropping chin, and that made her smirk grow into a more mature smile.
"You have a point, I suppose." She sighed, just as the music started outside. Smooth and easy. Jazz. The crowd was already mumbling with confusion, clearly used to more bombastic entrance music. It probably didn't help that the program probably read her as 'King', a name she shared with a rather infamous fighter in Tension. That confusion wasn't going to get any better. "Wish me luck."
"Good luck."
"No, no." King tsked her and gave the little waitress a playful shove. "In French."
Sally leaned forward and stuck her tongue about before speaking in their native language, making sure to smother it in her accent. "Bonne chance."
That brightened her all the way, a slice of home to hold her through the match. She gave Sally a wink and a frilly wave, then made her way out.
Sure enough, the murmurs and mutters began. The same old cliches.
"...is that a woman or a man?"
She heard that and plenty of variations as she walked down the ramp, with the occasional blonde joke mixed in. She paid it little mind. Physically, at least, she was a woman. She didn't care to advertise it, and she was fine with their jokes, spoken as if they didn't even think she understood the language. Let them taunt - King had come to a better understanding of herself long ago, and while she still had progress to make, she was far past the point where such taunts were more than static. She would shut them up when the time was right.
She walked up the steps and made her way through the ropes, walking over to the other side of the ring and waiting against the ropes for her opponent to arrive. She took a rose from her pocket, neatly packed for just this occasion, and held it to her nose, letting the sweet aroma waft its way in.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
Jocelyn rolled her shoulders back as she watched her opponent walk down the ramp. She looked like she was dressed for a wedding more than a fight. Though Jocelyn couldn't say much. Not so ,long ago she used to wear a regal Chinese dress to the ring. it allowed her free movement and was elegant.
She looked down at her attire, a tight fitting black sports bra and a white tank top with black track shorts and white piping. Sneakers completed her ensemble, the most difficult thing to get used to. She had lived for so long barefoot in the ring, the transition was difficult. But she was no gimmick. She was for real and she'd take down anyone who thought otherwise.
Her [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5l5xcO7AVU:263ootr4]music[/url:263ootr4] signaled her entrance and she burst from the backstage area and trod down the ramp with a grim scowl of determination. The boos were louder than her last match. She'd dismantled and humiliated a rookie in front of a packed arena. She'd done things before but never with that severity. Once the adrenaline of the moment had passed, it had surprised her even.
Jocelyn slipped into the ring and bounced on her heels. She sized up her opponent. Whatever it was, it was strange. It looked like a boy that looked like a girl dressed as a boy. Jocelyn scoffed. "This is a fuckin match, not an opera. Why the fuck are ya wearin a monkey suit, ya poofter?" She taunted with a smirk crossing her thin lips as her almond eyes sparkled.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
The music that followed was a harsh contrast. Metal? She wasn't too familiar with harder genres, but it seemed dour, rough, the sort of music you'd expect to hear in a club in with flickering lights and sticky floors. She was tempted to try and look it up later, but she wouldn't be able to do that by looking up the lyrics. The booing was too loud to hear them.
Whoever this was, the crowd distinctly did not like her. It was more than just a few scattered jeers, it was a full-on revolt, an introduction you only receive when you truly deserve it. Real, honest hate, and from a single glance, King couldn't be sure of the reason. She looked like a normal enough girl - rather pretty, actually, if dressed a tad mundane. Chinese, maybe. And that look on her face, so grim, so determined, a look she'd seen many times in the street and worn herself on a few occasion. This one wanted to win. Really and truly, plain and simple.
She couldn't help but be startled when the girl finally spoke, though it wasn't because of anything she said, really. King had heard far worse from far bigger mouths, but never from a woman with that accent attached to that body. Australian? A rare mix, and King couldn't help but wonder what the story was behind it. But that was a puzzle for another time.
She straightened up and gave the girl a little nod, keeping her composure. Infuriate the enemy with integrity. "It suits me." She threw back a soft smile and offered the rose. "Call me King. EnchantÃ."

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
What the fuck was wrong with this bitch? Jocelyn stared at King as she brushed off her insult and offered her a rose. "So does chokin down knobs." She said and took the rose. She held it and slowly crushed it in her hand, wincing as the thorns poked her and blood dripped off her hand.
"I'll call you a bloody office bike."
Jocelyn bounced on the balls of her feet as she tossed the bloody rose to the canvas and ground it into the canvas with her heel. She then looked up at King. "Alright. Let's go." She said and waited for the bell to ring.
Jocelyn bent her knees and ran at King, holding her hands at her sides and stopping when she was close to the blonde. Her first shot was a knee aimed at King's thigh. If that worked, she'd follow up with an elbow at King's face.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
King wasn't expecting the girl to sniff the rose or lay it gently to the side - clearly, she wasn't the type. She hardly expected her to crush it in her hand, either. Not simple the head, the entire rose, thorns and all, slicing up in her hand. King winced at the sight, but managed to keep the bulk of her composure, as another puzzle piece was thrown into the pile. She'd just gone to a rather ridiculous length to be intimidating. Why?
Still, this one had spirit, at least. Energy to spare. King was curious to see what she'd do with it.
She brought her hands up and moved into her stance as the girl did the same, easing into her stance - fists up, left leg out and bent, right leg back and ready. She bounced as well, moving into the girl's own rhythm and keeping time. She couldn't helpa little smile. She'd gone without a fight for far too long. "Let's."
King preferred to be the first on the draw, but the girl was too quick for that, closing the distance with stunning swiftness. She moved into close range and shot out with a knee, hitting hard on King's thigh and getting a fair hit. She was ready for the elbow, though, and leaned back, letting it pass her nose with only a few inches to spare. She struck out in the same motion, bringing her back leg up with a knee of her own, aimed for the girl's stomach.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
Jocelyn smirked when the knee hit but as the elbow swooshed past king's face, the velvety knee drove into her gut.
'Oof!"
Jocelyn curled over the appendage, her head pressing into the bartender's compacted bust as her arms wrapped around King's leg. The Chistralian then swiveled, pivoting as she threw her hip out to try and knock king off balance while still holding onto the blonde's leg.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
The knee landed perfectly, sinking into what little body this girl had, but King didn't have a moment to celebrate - quick hands, on this one. She managed to grab the knee before King could put it away, trying some kind of hip throw, more technical than you'd expect from standard street brawling. Good reflexes and speed, as well as skill, though King couldn't put her fingers on any style just yet.
King was going down earlier than she liked, but she didn't intend to make the trip alone. The girl's head was close, in prime position, and she tried to make the most of it as she pulled her in for a classic DDT, jerking back as they fell for an added snap.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
Jocelyn had expectations after she pulled King tot he ground. Unfortunately, getting DDT'd wasn't one of them. She felt, in the struggle, that her hip toss had jostled her head into King's waiting arm and she was driven head first into the mat.
Her legs flipped up and then flopped back down the other way as Jocelyn landed on her back, groaning from the pounding in her head. This was already going far different than her last match against Rosie.

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
It wasn't a pleasant landing for King, either, thanks to having her leg trapped. She came down a bit awkward, landing on her backside for a rough crash. A tad painful, but nothing major, and certainly not as bad as landing on her head. Integrating grappling moves into her style had been a slow process, but it was paying off, and the crowd showed their appreciation with a rousing wave of applause - so long as this girl was in pain, they seemed content.
She was down for the moment, but this was far too early in the match for that to last any real amount of time, so King moved to capitalized immediately. She rose and spun around to one knee, then reached over and sat the girl up for a rear naked choke, looking to lock the sleeper in quick. "I don't believe I caught your name, by the way."

Re: Lu Jiao Jocelyn vs King - Crass and Class
Jocelyn tried to get to her feet too but King was quicker to the punch, having taken much less of the impact. Jocelyn's head was still swimming when King grabbed her from the choke.
The Chistralian gagged at first, pressing her feet into the mat and trying to arch her back as much as she could while King asked for her name. "Your gammer's twat! That's my name!" Jocelyn growled through clenched teeth.
She reached up to sink her fingers into King's hair. Then she tried to give it a jerk and pull up her legs, looking to hit King with a jaw breaker.
