Wrath vs Kei
*Note, the match was was originally done over IM, but sadly the entire match, as well as it's pre-match content was lost. Below is a summary of the match that both writers came to the agreement of to show what happened. Most of the post match content was recoverable.*
Jill's daughter Jenny was in the upper section of the arena as her mother (Wrath) was getting ready for her match against the returning veteran of the ring Kei. She looked around and wondered if there were any other kids near by that she could place with. She spotted some in a near by box that was also occupied by Kei's family and their friends. Mistaking it for a daycare she went over but was invited to stay. She met Daisuke's son Excel, who is around the same age as her and they talked while Wrath and Kei got it on in the ring.
Wrath was heavy on offence and had a good defensive game early in the bout, but the veteran Kei would not go down without a fight and she was able to keep herself in it. Kei worked more of a grapple style of match while Wrath was mostly striking, though she had to adjust on the fly as some of her strikes were warned as illegal by the referee as excessive closedfist punching was being watched. Whenever Kei did go for striking attacks her method of choice was use of sidekicks to her opponent's ribs, as well as forearm strikes and a bionic elbow.
Around the eight minute mark of the bout the two got in a duel of chops. There was some action in the corner and when the referee was able to get them apart Kei told Wrath to take her long sleeved shirt off and to show her what she's really made of. Wrath thought about it for a moment but accepted Kei's challenge of each taking and receiving a handful of knife edge chops, five each. Both girls saw their chests change different shades of red as result of that exchange. It was a classic exchange and one of the chops was loud enough that it broke a glass cup someone had in the upper deck. It looked like Wrath won the veteran's respect for being able to take the abuse, despite going down to a knee at one point, but in the process she let her guard down for a second too long and was almost pinned after Kei snuck in a DDT, reminding her that there are no timeouts in wrestling.
Wrath was also able to escape Kei's Prison-Keys submission move a short time later, but found herself being thrown from the ring after she escaped the hold. The two had a mini exchange on the floor until Kei connected with a suplex on the outside, then she took a risk by putting Wrath on the broadcast table and going to the top rope.
This gave Wrath time to recover and avoid the contact, while Kei crashed and burned, almost breaking herself in half. The referee almost stopped the fight after checking on Kei, but the almost unconscious ring vet was able to say that she wasn't finished yet, even though she wasn't feeling too great at the moment, so the match continued.
Wrath brought her opponent back into the ring and applied a boston crab. She eventually broke the hold on her own as the referee attempted to see if Kei wanted to stop things here or not. Wrath had a moment of hesitation, unsure to go for the kill or what, which during that guessing game, and with the crowd trying to feed her momentum, Kei was able to get back to her feet, but she could barely keep herself standing that even a simple bump of the legs would have send her back down to Earth.
Wrath was able to connect with her finishing combination move a couple of moves later, but under caution from the referee for using illegal strikes, which she decided to just go for the final headbutt. That final headshot wasn't needed as at this point her opponent was out and showed no signs of getting up. She did step back after the final blow, thinking the referee would stop it, but she then decided to pin Kei, and after the academic three count she was declared the winner.
After the match Daisuke and Excel agreed to bring Jenny to the locker room area to see her mother while Kei was brought back to receive medical attention. Daisuke shared a brief conversation with Wrath/Jill and she asked Daisuke where Kei was *The summary ends here.*
Jill nodded as she said, "OK. Umm, is it alright if you came with me? I...I want to talk to her and her family on who I really am. I feel there might have been some mistrust about me during the match." Jenny tugged at her Mom's arm as she wanted to go with her.
"I guess that should be ok." She tells her. "Let me know when you're ready."
Jill nods before telling Jenny to stay with Daisuke for a while. She took at least two minutes to fix herself up in the locker rooms before getting back out. She took a few deep breaths to relieve her nerves before saying, "OK, let's go."
Daisuke takes her to where she thinks Kei might be. When they get there Sion is on the outside of the door. He holds his hand against his face and sighs. "How is she?" Daisuke asks him. "More stubborn than ever...But she'll be fine." He then notices Jenny and Jill with her. He tries to smile at Jen, but can't as he has a hard time also looking at Jill with a straight face.
Jill said nothing and looked down a little before making her way through. It seems like Sion has an idea about her already, but she didn't want to think about that now. She would walk over to Kei who was resting on bed and said, "Umm...hello? Kei?"
Kei was sitting up and leaning back against the wall when Jill came in. "Hm?" she looked over towards the door as Jill came in. "Yes?"
Jill gulped as she slowly walked to her and stood at her side. "Umm...hi. My name's Jilly...Jilly Rolig. But I think you might have known me already."
She nods slowly. "How's the chest feeling?"
Jilly felt her chest and said, "Still sore, but I think I'll pull through." She then sighs, "Listen...I know what people may think of me, but I'm not a monster. I'm sorry if I had hurt you too much."
"That little back and forth we did is the only thing I clearly remember. I was told that you were unnecessarily excessive at the end there but I'll have to look at the tape and judge for myself. I'll say this though, it's ok to get hurt and to show it. But if you're affraid of getting hurt you're in the wrong line of work. If from what I look at is true to what other people have told me except what we use to call back in the day a receipt. Other than that you weren't bad. Since it is something I do remember though show me please." She was referring to the damage she did to Jill's chest earlier. She wanted to see how marked she was after the fact.
Jilly would slowly unbutton her coat and then pull the top half of her shirt down a little to reveal a bit of her chest. It was very, very red almost like a strawberry, so the damage was quite good considering it was from a veteran. "I know...I may have been necessarily excessive in delivering damage, but it was the only way to go with what the others labelled me as. And also maintain my cover of who I really am."
"Hate to break it to you but there's no sense hiding, especially here. Everyone eventually has their darkest secrets discovered. Tell me this though, why listen to what others label you as? In case if you didn't know, a couple years ago people labelled me as done, washed up, crippled, finished. If you don't count the end result did I look like any of that out there?"
Jilly examined Kei from top to bottom and shook her head as she said, "No! No, not at all! In fact, even though you may be older, you still got it and we can see that you are still willing to carry forward." Then she turned away and added, "As for me...I kind of grew into accepting that all because when I reflect back to all that's happened...I feel they were right."
"Who says they have to be right?" She tells her as she tries to stand up.
"I...I don't know...I just don't what to say to them other than glare my "beastly" eyes upon them and be feared...They wouldn't understand anyway."
=
She decides it be better to sit back down for now. "Maybe I can be the first who does."
"You?" Jilly gulped in hearing that. "Umm...you may not like it."
"Maybe so, but who says I won't understand it. I could list a lot of things I've either have had happen to me or have seen it happen to people I care about. Humour me." she motions for her to go on.
"Okay," Jill clears her throat as she knew that the others may be listening. "I wasn't always a fighter, I started out just as a bookworm. I enjoyed reading and I was pretty smart, which of course leads to others teasing me for my "bug-eyes" glasses and nerdiness."
Jill then chuckled as she added, "And it came to no surprise that we...fell for each other."
Kei continues to listen.
Years after graduating, Vilfred became a professional wrestler and I was a librarian, but mind you, I have exquisite taste in stories so I have made my own. They are already on it's third volume!"
"You will have to tell me about that some other time, but go on."
Jilly would go on to say about Vilfred being Denmark's champion 3 years running and eventually getting married. Vilfred soon retired when Jenny was born into their family. "Everything was just perfect. A wonderful husband and father for our beautiful girl, who put violence aside for good and settled more peacefully. We would've had the best years of our lives...until..." Jill seems to tremble just thinking about the next part.
"I do remember the name. I can't recall if we've ever fought, or if my husband ever faced him, I can't remember, but I have heard of him." She told Jill, being a wrestler herself she did have a habit of learning about local heroes wherever she went. "until?"
Jill had a long pause before continuing on. "We were out walking back after our date...and we were stopped by this gang. Vilfred recognized the leader as someone he once knew in the wrestling business. Vilfred refused to throw a battle and now he was told he has to pay. A couple of guys grabbed me and held me close so I won't escape. And then, I witnessed...a flashing light...the sound of a bullet....and my husband's blood splattered on my face."
Kei says nothing, letting Jill continue, it did sound concerning what she was hearing so far.
"As soon as they released me and ran off, I was horrified at the sight of my husband's body. Not moving. I held onto him as I tried calling for help. None came from the streets. And as soon as the ambulance comes in, I knew it was too late. Nothing can be done." Jill's tears streamed from her face in remembering that incident. But then her fingers clenched up against her hands in fists. "No one...came to help. The world didn't seem to care...They had no idea how much I was in mourning!!"
Kei holds out her arms, offering to hug her in support."
Jilly would fall in Kei's hug as she sobbed against her chest. "And since then...I felt the world has always hated me."
"There are a lot of asshole yes, but not everybody is against you. If you got your daughter, shouldn't that be all that matters? I don't blame you for thinking that though, but you don't have to believe the negative hype. You're not a bad person. People will come around and except you for who you are. No need to hide things."
Jill sniffed when she thought about her daughter. Even without her husband, Jenny has been the greatest thing in her life. "Thanks...but that wasn't all. Ever since the incident, I have had this sort of reaction inside me. Every time I feel threatened, I lash out as if they were the same gang that took my husband from me. I...I just couldn't help it!" She cried a little harder as she felt ashamed of that.
Kei pulls back a bit. "I know it'll be hard but you'll have to one day shake that. I hate to say it but if you can't then that gang will have won. Every time you lash out, even if you can't help it, they win. It doesn't have to be like that though." Kei holds Jill's head up. "I know you can do it. I know because from the sounds it you have something that I that didn't have when I started. A healthy relationship with my family." Her daughter and oldest kid who is in her mid 20s, who is in the room but off to the side in case if Kei needs any emergency assistance, Kei gives a glance to. "Ask her. A lot of times I made the mistake of putting my wrestling before my family. But you, I don't see you making the same mistake I did."
Jill's head would be lifted up to reveal her tear-stained face. She looked to the daughter and saw that she was beautiful. "I know what you're saying, Kei...but every time I try to move on. The voice in my head tells me that I could've saved my husband. I could've prevented all this. But now...look at me. I am a single mother trying to provide for her only daughter. And you have a lovely family and husband."
"I do, but sometimes wish our relationship could be better, this isn't about me though. Sometimes you gotta tell those voices in your head to shut the fuck up. It won't be easy but if you want it bad enough you can do it."
Jill sniffed and leaned her head back against Kei's chest. She knew that Kei was right. "Kei...I need help."
"yes?"
"Well, you're older than me...I need to know how I can control my emotions and still be a good mother...and defender."
"How to be a good mother....." she had to think about that "I'm still trying to learn that myself, but my kids haven't said they hate me yet so I think I'm doing ok. As far as your emotions go, part of it is being able to let go." she was starting to feel a bit better. "Your mask. Let me see it."
Jill would reach into her jacket and pull out her mask to show it to Kei. She is willing to anything she has to say.
"I know it's something you consider very special, but I feel that it might be part of the problem. Hand it over." being involved with wrestling almost her entire life she knew what the mask meant to people who saw it more than just a cool gimmick.
"What?" Jill handed the mask over to Kei, not knowing what she was trying to tell her.
Kei takes hold of the mask and checks it over. "Just by holding this I can tell a lot of things. Stuff about your husband, and stuff about you. Now it is your choice, but if you want to beat those that torment your mind you got to be able to let this go. Or at the very least be able to fight without it, or in moderation. It may sound crazy but please believe me. I can help you in other ways too but this will be a big step."
Jilly would look at Kei first and then at the mask. "But...this is something that reminds me of my husband...I don't know if people will accept a bookworm without the mask..." She didn't know what to do not say at this moment.
"I understand that. I'm not saying throw it in the trash. More like keep it in your bag or by your bed at night. Plus there's more to hiding a face than just wearing a mask. You don't be in the sport for over two decades and not learn alternatives. Besides, while I fully understand and accept that you're wearing it in honour of your father, some traditions in some circles state wearing someone else's mask, even if related by blood, is the greatest insult you can give someone. Tell me, does your daughter like to paint?" She sounded like she had an idea
Jill would feel even sadder when she was told that even wearing someone else's mask is an insult. Then she looked to Jenny before replying, "Yes...she loves to paint actually."
"Most kids do right?" she comments with a smile. "I haven't seen anyone here do, maybe there is someone and I haven't seen it but I know a lot of wrestlers from my travels that have their face painted. Maybe you can come up with a design to wear each time you wrestle, and have your daughter help you put it on. I bet that would be a real bonding experience."
Jill would think about it and it did sound different. But perhaps it can work. "Hmm...perhaps that can work. And it will indeed help me bond with my little girl."
"If you want my help I will give it to you, but for now I think I need some me time. I'll give you a shout in a day or two. Leave your number with my daughter and call you." She wanted to take a shower, which would be a bit difficult, but since she is getting more feeling back into her she thinks she'll be ok. Worst case Kayura is still there.
Jill nods as she is willing to meet with Kei sometime. "Okay. Uhh, one question: what do you children think of me?"
"Of the two that are here today..." she looks back at Kayura. "I think she doesn't mind you either way. As for my son Sion I don't know. I want to say things got clouded for him with what happened in the ring but it'll be ok.
"I think your son doesn't like me at all. His wife is alright, but I hope I can gain everyone's trust."
"I wouldn't say that" Daisuke tells her from the door. "Even I wasn't sure of what to think about how you decided to end it. I can assure you he doesn't hate you. It'll be alright. We'll make sure he understands if there's any doubt.
Jill would smile as he said, "Thanks, Daisuke."
Before she leaves Kei tells her "Remember though, after I look back at the match and if it turns out I should owe you one, I won't tell you when it is coming but when it happens you will know and we'll be even. Anyway I'll talk to you later, congratulations."
Jill nodded as she took the mask back and said, "Got it. And remember, when we meet again, I won't go easy on you." Then she would smile and give Kei one more hug to show her appreciation. "Thanks again, and nice job on your part. You certainly proved that you still got it as a fighter."
"Thank you." Kei told her softly.
Jill nods to her before saying her goodbyes and thank you's to Kayura, Sion, and Daisuke. Hopefully, Sion won't be angry still. Meanwhile, Jenny ran over to Kei to hug her in a very cute manner.
Kei didn't expect Jenny to come up to her. "Hi there, uhm, could you let go of my legs please?" She knows Jenny was just trying to be nice but she still felt a bit sore down there.
"Oh!" Jenny immediately let go of Kei and stepped back with her hands behind her back. She blushed as she said, "Sorry, Miss Kei. I was going to say thank you for helping my Mommy
"I'll do what I can. Did you have a good time today?" she asks her.
"I did, Miss Kei. And Miss Daisuke, Mr. Sion, Excel, and Sky were very nice too!"
She patted Jenny on the head before Kayura went up to Kei and offered to help her out of here.
"Come on, Jenny, let's go home now," said Jill offering her hand to her daughter. Jenny would ask, "Will we see them again, Mommy?" "Oh, we will, honey. We will."

We will."
