is last run as face was actually a decent length of time. And when he was with some of his tag teams he was like... kind of facey even when he was in a heel tag.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
The fuck happened with my post?
Stupid computer fucking up on me I think.
Anyway, I was saying
The problem with this story line is that WWE is basically trying to cook up a nice, juicy, thick steak. Steak takes alot of time to cook correctly. The issue is that their trying to serve that steak to an audience of people who are used to eating Mcnuggets and McDoubles that only take a couple minutes at best to have and enjoy. Said people are used to instant gratification and don't WANT to wait for steak. Much like how promo's now are basically nothing more then catchphrases and a couple words, because people don't want to sit and wait and listen through an intelligent, heartfelt promo.
Was hoping Punk could change that, but sadly no.
The other issue with this story line is that its going to last about 4-6 months before ending, probably at Mania 30. Guess who's supposed to be back in that same amount of time?
Yep. I'm calling it now. Ortons loss of the title and the Corporations ultimate defeat will come at the main event of Wrestlemania 30, with Orton losing the title to the new Rebel Hero......John Cena.
As for Big Shows contract, didn't that happen like...last July? If so, then a year HAS gone by. Besides, a contract would mean Big Show DOES have to do at least SOMETHING on his own side. They have the right IDEA in mind regarding him, they just don't seem to know the best way to go about it. Though I'm pretty sure even a person with a contract can't just tell their boss "No, I won't go do this", which was the whole point of Stephanie talking to Big Show, because he was REFUSING to go face DB, even though his contract would, at the very least, require him to wrestle.

*I think you can give people more credit. I am sometimes also baffled at the stupidity of the public, but exposure will reel the majority in, at least I hope that.^^
*I'd legit facepalm if John Cena is portrayed as rebel leader. The guy is simply heelish when dealing with mature people with his mocking heel turn and skid mark promos and is so corporate in heart and demeanor that nobody over the age of 10 would ever, ever buy it.If it happens, I can see Cena getting booed out of the building(like at the last 7? WMs) with a forced Orton face turn on top. If Brock Lesnar with it's brutal beating of Cena could not gather him lasting sympathy, Orton surely can't either.
*Full in the WWE's corner with Big Show. He could indeed have squandewred all his money or lost his ass in stock trading or whatever. He could have made it a *fingerpoke of doom* style match(which would have been hillarious^^) or something like that, but he of course had to wrestle if he did not want to risk a breach of contract. I also guess he'll stay face for a longer time now.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
WWE has only brought his contract up twice anyway, once for HHH to try to turn DB against Big Show, by pointing out that Show could have helped when he didn't, and to force Show to wrestle after he flatly refused to.
Again, contracts only count if they are followed and adhered to. Big Show flatly refusing to wrestle a match the higher ups wanted could, and certainly would, qualify as breach of contract.
As for the "Big Show needs Money" issue, its not exactly far-fetched. Everybody is either in, or knows of someone in, a situation where they are working and making money, but only just making ends meet or not being able to pay every bill. Big Show is a big guy, and with his traveling schedule and having to find things like cars he can fit into and plane tickets and such, he's probably got a lot of expenses, in addition to whatever his taxes, house/car payments, and other such things are. Lending money to friends, which seems like the kind of thing Face Big Show would do, or losing money in the stock market, which happens to plenty of people.
Hell, maybe he just pulled a Ric Flair and blew the shit out of his money on nice expensive toys.
Point is, it wouldn't be all that surprising or unrealistic to happen, and if Show breached his contract by refusing to wrestle, then WWE would NOT be required to honor the contract themselves.
Note: All this is referring to the WWE's current storyline. Obviously Big Show has money in real life. XD

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Of course it does. It's basically a remake of that angle.
For better or worse, depending on how you look at it, most wrestling fans aren't like "us". They tend to get caught up and watch for around 3 years or so, then fall out of favor with it and move on to something else.
Because of this, WWE, just like plenty of other wrestling companies, past and present, they will recycle their storylines and fueds and such, usually with different players involved, though sometimes we get full on repeats, such as Kane betraying and burying Undertaker alive both in 2003 and 2010

Jim Cornette called it the Seven Year Rule. After seven years, give or take, there's enough turnover in the fanbase that you can re-use storylines and gimmicks and most people won't know or care.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
People like us tend to fall under the term of "smart marks"
We are like the people in the audience that know the magicians tricks. We remember stuff, look stuff up online, learn the backstage workings of the company, things like that.
We are in the minority regarding wrestling fans.
The "7 year rule" is meant for the so called "marks" who don't do any of that, and it covers any child, teen, or regular adult who simply sits and watches the shows and orders the pay per views.
"Smarks" also tend to make fun of "Marks" simply because they are "Marks"
Though considering Smarks tend to spend a majority of wrestling-related time doing nothing but bitching on internet forums about how the product sucks and we totally know better, and marks spend their time actually enjoying the product, I would ultimately say they have the better deal.
Sometimes its good to be a sheep.
