Dave "Obsidian" Blake vs Jean Richards

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Dave had finally been booked for his debut match at AFW. Was he nervous.......yup. This was much bigger than his wrestling league back home.

He was busy listening to random music on his mp3 while he tightened his gloves, made sure his boots were cinched up and ready to go.

Jean paced back and forth back stage before the match began, anxiously going back and forth over his strategy in his head. After an embarrassing loss against Juniper in his debut, it had been a while since he had found another match. He had used that time to practice and improve himself, but he still had doubts whether it would be enough. He heard from the promoters that he'd be facing another rookie, but that didn't tell him anything about their skill or potential.

But Jean wouldn't have to worry much longer, a stagehand ushered him towards the entrance ramp while his music began to play. After making it down to the ring, he did his best to keep a calm exterior, but his eyes were still anxiously trained on the ramp to see who his opponent would be.

Dave took a deep breath as a stage hand usherd him to the entrance, where the theme to Iron Man 3 could be heard blaring on the speakers, making him smile to himself as he ran out, giving a wave to some of the fans who cheered for the new arrival. He had learned long ago that giving off a positive attitude would no doubt leave a good first impression. This was his big moment, and he was going to do the best he could do.

Sliding into the ring, he looked at his opponent who was only a few inches shorter than he was. Smiling, he offered his hand to him.

"Nice to meet you. Name's Dave." He greeted with a good mannered smile.

Jean was momentarily confused when the entrance theme for his opponent began to play on the speakers. It was strangely familiar but he didn't immediately recognize it as the Iron Man theme. Looking over his opponent, he seemed like he'd be a similar challenge to Juniper; Dave was taller and a bit bigger than Jean.

"Jean" he replied, offering his hand to return the handshake. He seemed like he'd be an interesting opponent, they were similarly built which meant the extra height wasn't too much of a deciding factor.

Jean backed up a few steps and nodded to the ref to let them know he was ready to begin.

"Alright, it's party time." David smirked to himself. To be honest his opponent wasn't bad looking, but he quickly pushed those thoughts aside as he nodded to the ref, ready to start the fight.

The bell clanged three times when the ref called the match, causing Jean to ready himself both mentally and physically. He didn't want to give Dave the first move, so Jean took it upon himself.

He held his hands up and wiggled his fingers like he wanted to start things off with a classic test of strength. But if and when the test was accepted, Jean instead planned to do a hip toss and throw his opponent to the mat.

Dave looked at the offered hand before raising his own to grab it, bracing himself for whatever was to follow. If this guy was gonna toss him, like some had in the past, he had to be ready to act.

Jean's fingers laced with Dave's and he stared him down for a few seconds, to keep up the pretense that he was intent on the test of strength. However, a few seconds later Jean suddenly sprung into action, pivoting his center of gravity and twisting his hips and attempting to use Dave's size against him with the hip toss.

Dave grunted as he felt himself being lifted in a hip toss. 'Wait.' he thought, 'I can use this to my advantage.'

Dave landed with a thud on the mat, but used the momentum to roll toward the ropes. Getting to his feet, he bounced off the ropes and shot like a bullet towards Jean, lifting his foot up in a surprise dropkick to the chest, putting all his weight behind it

Jean chanced a smile when he managed to throw Dave, it felt like a good omen to have success this early in the match. However, he didn't think that Dave was going to get up some quickly; in fact he was surprised to see him use the momentum.

Jean tried to jump to the side but Dave's dropkick, and the weight behind it, still caught him. Jean was knocked off of his feet and sent sprawling on his back with an audible 'OOMPH'. Shaking his head out, he scrambled to get up before his opponent had a chance to make use of his downed state.
